Joe Pickett (2021)
I'm hooked
I'm hooked. Believable characters in the great outdoors, with a good storyline and the occasional heartwarming or comical relief. It's easy to look past minor flaws, when the acting is as good as the writing. (Not that there were flaws to gloat about.). I watch a fair amount of fantasy-sci-fi, which have much more visible flaws.
Prodigal Son (2019)
I'm hooked!
I really enjoy the psych-crime-drama and this one is at the top of my list. I don't understand why there are so many negative reviews.
Prodigal Son is all about the psyche of its protagonist (Tom Payne) and his psychopathic father (Michael Sheen). In order to get "into" the mind of each leading character, their relationships to the psychopathic father are extremely important.
The PTSD flashbacks and night terrors are critical to delve deep into the Son's personal psychological paradigm. The Prodigal Son's mother, sister, doctors, and the detective (Lou Diamond Phillips) have their own psychological issues or personality facet related to the antagonist-father. These are all important to the story and theme of the show.
The actors are believable and the tormented psyches are excellently presented. The scripts are well written and the scenes evocative. I'm hooked!
The Christmas Chronicles (2018)
Heartwarming!
This was so heartwarming! Laughs & tears from start to finish.
