Crooked House (2017)
A Very Delightful Watch!
I am not really a fan of crime, drama genre but I decided to give this a shot because of the rating and the plot summary.
I would say this movie was worth every second. The suspense was intense, I was glued to my screen all through. Solid acting from all the actors plus an impeccable but sad ending.
In a nutshell, it shows how controlling the lives of people against their wishes can make them twisted beyond measure.
Mayhem (2017)
10 times better version of Belko Experiment
If you've seen the Belko Experiment, then you already have an idea of what to expect in this movie only that it's way better in terms of story, plot and acting.
One of the things I really loved is that the cause of the mayhem is a virus which is more realistic than explosive chips put in the skulls of co-workers of a firm who were ordered to kill each other by a mystery voice (Belko Experiment). This makes the violence and chaos more enjoyable. Plus it's not all about violence, though majorly violence. I also feel the corporate environment was better portrayed here.
So if you're looking for an action movie with lots of blood, suspense and little hints of comedy, you can give this a shot. It is very enjoyable from beginning to end.
Brawl in Cell Block 99 (2017)
This is quite disappointing!
Ouch! I had high expectations. I really was expecting the same thrill and action as with "Shot Caller" seeing it's a prison-related movie and a 7.3 at that but....
First off, I feel the role Vince Vaughn played was off. He wasn't the right person for such a role. He seems more like a nice family man than a hardcore criminal. Throughout the movie it looked like he was trying to act tough and hard but it didn't go down well. Secondly, the drug pushers, the prisoners and the prison guards to be specific were terrible. The shoot-out with the police and the fight choreography throughout the movie was very unreal. The skull crushing, bone breaking, head cutting etc. was fake and unrealistic.
One of the ways I personally judge a good movie is for it not to appear in anyway as acting but in-between, I could almost hear the director's "action's" and "cuts". It was just so vivid that they all were acting (to me at least).
I really wonder how this movie made a 7.3? I feel like I wasted 2 hours. It was a painful watch especially at the ending to be honest with a lot of face-palms. I say this with utter disappointment from a broken heart.
