Run Sweetheart Run (2020)
Not a classic but a nice change of pace
Not a classic bit derivative but a nice change of pace if you have done terrifiers Halloween end, hell raiser 2022 and the awful keepers creepers reboot. Just not as good as recent Netflix and Amazon horrors. I won't give spoilers but the gore is more psychological as is the evil character. Nice to see someone trying to do both tension is strangely missing despite both leads been good so guessing that is the effect the director wanted. Bit more tension which the case could cope with and a few more glimpses and this could have got to a seven. Probably generous at six but I appreciated the change of pace and hidden hammer style horror.
Stranger Things (2016)
Ignore the posters and trainers just try it
TV perfection. I was put off by the original ads and thought it was for kids and modern retro is usually poor. This is tv perfection brilliant uplifting retro with horror thrown in but you can hate both those genres and love this. Amazing casting story telling and cinematography, right up and beyond breaking bad for me.
Gangster No. 1 (2000)
Best British Gangster Film of this century
Stellar cast that have either were or have gone on to amazing careers as leads or the kind of outstanding support actors that make films great
Anyone outside of the UK needs to watch this to see some quality film that never hit the global mainstream.
Smoking Guns (2016)
Terrible one for mockney bankers
Just poor. Mockney bankers only feels like a first year college project with papa paying for a decent budget.
Annihilation (2018)
Thoughtful sci-fi with a touch of young Cronenberg
Thoughtful sci-fi with a touch of young Cronenberg thrown in. Scored it a 9 mainly because it was so refreshing to see a different pace and to have an emotive and immersive experience. If you like to read proper sci-fi and have ever enjoyed a David Cronenberg film like Scanners or Existenz then you will love the experience this film offers. Can't believe it is a mainstream release so kudos to Netflix
