Killers of the Flowers Moon
22 October 2023
"Do you see the wolves in this picture," Ernest Burkhardt (Leonardo DiCaprio) reads aloud as he works his way through a children's book early in Martin Scorsese's "Killers of the Flower Moon." The wolves aren't really hidden at all, and they won't be in the film that follows either, a masterful historical drama about evil operating in plain sight. One of the most disturbing things about Scorsese's ambitious adaptation of David Grann's non-fiction book of the same name is how little of its vile behavior stays in the shadows. This is the story of men who treated murder almost mundanely, issuing orders to have people killed like they would order a drink at the bar. Scorsese walks that fine line between telling a very specific story of a couple at the heart of a tragedy and commenting on the larger nature of evil. The wolves in "Killers of the Flower Moon" don't hesitate to think that what they're doing might be wrong as long as it profits them in the end.

In his sixth collaboration with the legendary director, Leonardo DiCaprio delivers yet another memorable performance in the role of Ernest Burkhart. What makes DiCaprio's character so intriguing is his indecisive nature, in that he is torn between supporting his own white family or his Osage wife Mollie. On one hand, Ernest's loyalty towards his birth family is what made him go ahead with his uncle's idea in the first place, while on the other hand when he truly falls for Mollie he cannot bring himself to end her along with her entire tribe. DiCaprio displays his signature range of emotion here, alternating between a strong family man and a submissive weakling doing his uncle's bidding, both of which he pulls off quite effectively.

After working on ten films together, Robert De Niro steps back from his usual spot as the Scorsese lead and into the supporting role as William King Hale, where he is essentially the main antagonist of this story. Hale is a man who is determined to weasel his way into wealth, regardless of whether or not he has truly earned it. His intentions are malicious and are only meant to serve his own personal gain, with little regard for the wellbeing of others, even his nephew. What I consider to be his worst character trait is that he believes all of his actions are justified by what the Bible says about spreading the Word of God. His claim that God wants him to participate in the genocide of an entire race of people is nothing short of evil, and he demonstrates this at numerous points throughout the film. A role like this is perfect for an actor like Robert De Niro, and what better director to show this to the world than Martin Scorsese?

However, the film's true standout would have to be Lily Gladstone as Mollie, who is truly the heart and soul of this story. Here is a woman who has experienced so much pain and heartbreak in her life, whether it's her own physical ailments or the sudden death of her relatives. Yet, despite all these hardships, Mollie remains as steadfast as ever, choosing to be a loving wife to her husband and caring mother to her young children. Mollie essentially represents all of the positive values that her tribe upholds, and she is among the last of her family who hasn't completely sold herself out to the ideals of a rich lifestyle. This is easily a career defining role for Gladstone, and she certainly has potential to be noteworthy star one day.

With powerful performances, truly terrific production design, and outstanding cinematography. Collectively it all works to tell a gripping and heartbreaking story about greed, corruption, and entitlement. Simply put, it's one of the year's best films.

Meg 2 mess
3 August 2023
As a Ben Wheatley stan, Meg 2: The Trench breaks my heart. Too many things going on, not enough Meg action. The majority of Meg action is in the last 20-25 minutes. This film should've been called "Creatures of The Trench", instead. This reminds me of my experience with Jurassic World Dominion where the giant locusts and the humans take center stage. I just want more Megs, goddamnit.

Jason Statham is on autopilot Jason Statham and the supporting actors don't help much either. The performances range from downright poor to unconvincing to okay-ish. The saving grace of this film is its CGI creatures and Statham vs. Meg Part 2. The Statham and Megs showdown isn't even that exciting, to be honest.

The story is painfully generic and super predictable. Of course, I knew what I got myself into. I enjoyed the first Meg! I'm okay with generic or predictable, but at least make it thrilling and fun! This isn't the Ben Wheatley I know. The worst thing any film could do to me is to leave me emotionally detached. It's better to feel hate - at least I felt something. With Meg 2: The Trench, I felt almost nothing.

Greta Gerwig Masterpiece
19 July 2023
A fun and clever enough comedy and twist on the world's most famous doll with wonderful production values, a charming Margot Robbie and an absolute hilarious Ryan Gosling.

Ultimately, Barbie is so many things: a stereotype, a toy, an idea; a vessel of imagination; a cultural relic. But in Gerwig's trusted hands, this is Barbie like you've never seen her before.

Cinematography is great here, Set pieces are outstanding and the Soundtrack is a masterpiece.

I want to take a minute to take about Greta Gerwig she is so clever and talented hope this movie will push her to direct big blockbuster movies that she deserves.

The Father Of The Atomic Bomb
19 July 2023
Plays like a chain reaction, bouncing between past and present, actions and consequences. This is a blistering piece of filmmaking that's only flaws are small shortcomings from its gargantuan ambition

Elevated by Cillian Murphy's exacting performance, Nolan's biopic on the father of the atomic bomb is majestic and morally complex.

The cinematography is magnificent no worries when you have Hoyte Van Hoytema, capturing the awesome power of a bomb while also showcasing the vulnerability and flaws of the humans that created it.

Ludwig Göransson Soundtrack is surreal it will make you on your toes.

For me it will always be Robert Downey Jr. And Cillian Murphy Performances that carried this movie everybody else was just ok.

It's not Nolan's best movie it will always be Inception for me but it's up there with the top, A great cinematic experience that you don't want to miss especially in IMAX.

Tom Cruise as always
12 July 2023
Tom Cruise runs! Tome Cruise jumps! Tom Cruise drives a motorcycle off a cliff and then opens his parachute! It's the Tom Cruise show again this summer, which means it's time for Ethan Hunt to sprint his way through...more show-stoppers than ever.

This is the third movie in the series that Cruise and the director Christopher McQuarrie have made together, and they have settled into a mutually beneficial groove.

The action in this movie is beyond insane and that train scene reminded me of one of my favorite games of all time "Uncharted 2".

This installment is a little light on the emotional elements that made "Fallout," the best of the series. But given all the pleasures that "Dead Reckoning" has to offer, complaining about that feels like whining that Baskin Robbins only has 31 flavors.

I loved Dead Reckoning the movie is not perfect but it's one of the best in the series can't wait for Part Two. I suggest anyone to see it in IMAX.

Asteroid City
27 June 2023
Asteroid City's heart comes from Jason Schwartzman's captivating performance. The film explores grief and the complexity of performances with a beautiful pastel daydream-capturing the mid-century modern atomic age through its use of color and space.

Asteroid City doesn't represent Anderson in peak form but it's an occasionally enjoyable diversion that offers enough smiles and low-key laughs to paper over a few the filmmaker's annoying tendencies.

If you are a big fan of Wes Anderson, this movie is specifically for you. This doesn't work for general audiences though and even people on the fence with his work will probably be disappointed. I know I was.

No Hard Feelings
25 June 2023
With jerky tonal shifts to make you feel as though you're experiencing repeated whiplash, the movie veers off course in several directions that don't make very much sense - not that we expect this format to be remotely plausible.

Not even J-Law off the nice-young-lady leash can save something this lazy and desperate to offend, however. The movie simply isn't on her level. Or really much of any level at all.

This R-rated sex farce only plays at being dirty. Behind the carnal jokes lurks a Hallmark heart. But a never-friskier or funnier Lawrence, as a 30-ish Uber driver hired to seduce a college-bound kid, is well worth the watch. The rest gets a hard pass.

The Flash (I) (2023)

DCEU END
15 June 2023
Long on fan service and littered with incredulous plot manipulations, "The Flash" will work for DC diehards but only mildly entertain everyone else.

While director Andy Muschietti's time-travel crowd pleaser doesn't blaze any new narrative trails, it does result in a fun superhero nostalgic dive, for the most part.

Definitely wanna see more of Sasha Calle's Supergirl in the future. One of the major standouts in the movie. Really liked her.

34 years after he first played Batman on the big screen, Michael Keaton returns to the role (and the big screen) and he doesn't miss actually he is MVP for me.

Batfleck is back he showed for a short amount of minutes but i enjoyed seeing him for one last time.

In the end, The Flash triumphs through its ability to connect emotionally and deliver moments of genuine humour. These elements, coupled with impressive action, make it a worthwhile watch.

Rise of the Beasts
13 June 2023
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is a soft reboot that has the spark to reinvigorate the franchise. Steven Caple Jr. Does a rather impressive job at showing us a world closer to the source material in both story and spirit, that feels both new and familiar

The best thing about the Transformers franchise has always been the sound the Autobots make as they transform... although I'm still unsure why they would want to be disguised as a Volkswagen Beetle.

At the end, There is enough good entertainment here to make it a perfect summer matinee movie, especially for younger audiences and for general audience as well.

The Little Mermaid
24 May 2023
Happily, The movie flaws aren't enough to sink the film. Bailey's Ariel is radiant throughout and, in places, Marshall's hyper-stylized visuals add oomph and dazzle to the songs.

Halle Bailey was born to play Ariel! Her "Part Of Your World" is a true revelation. I love the new additions to the story that let her and Eric form a real connection. They were able to add suspense to a classic story we all know and love.

Although money was undoubtedly the primary driver for remaking The Little Mermaid, at least on this occasion the filmmakers have proven able to engage in something more than nostalgia-mining.

Fast X (2023)

The End Of The Road Begins
17 May 2023
Fast X is another example of a series that's a lot more fun when you stop trying to inject realism into it and just go along for the wild, nitrous-fueled ride. You'll laugh, you'll cheer and you'll feel, for a few hours, like part of a family.

Director Louis Leterrier...puts his petal to the metal, keeping things moving so quickly - bodies and vehicles are perpetually in motion, drivin', fightin', explodin' or dyin' - that there's little time to worry about how far-fetched it is.

Momoa is what these films have been missing forever: a flamboyant supervillain and all-round chaos merchant, who likes to perch on the tallest landmarks and dial in carnage.

Brie Larson's Tess was a good introduction to the series at first but turns out to be a missed opportunity. I would like to see more of her in the next installment.

The Action was top notch and the visuals were great and those engine sounds 🔥.

Finally, If you're a genuine fan of the franchise, you'll be more than happy with Fast X ; if you're not, it's still a fun and mindless time to enjoy watching something new in theaters.

Last Dance
4 May 2023
A tremendous closure of the MCU's best and most consistent trilogy. Great fun, with insane action and doses of classic Guardians heart & soul! It will leave you emotionally shattered, but filled with so much hope and optimism.

First, The MVP of the movie and i will not be even exaggerating when i say the whole trilogy, Bradley Cooper as Rocket is the emotional core of this one, so much time is spent exploring his past and it leads to the most emotionally devastating moments and he absolutely brings it.

Chris Pratt is just as strong as before as Peter Quill, there's always been a sadness beneath the charming exterior but after all the previous losses its starting to come to the surface in terrific fashion as he's determined to protect his family this time around.

Chukwudi Iwuji is an amazing villain, eschewing the usual tortured past of most villains for a character who is just plain evil and larger than life, played to perfection.

Dave Bautista and Pom Klementieff remain really funny throughout but the film wisely still takes time to offer reminders of their dramatic chops as well.

Groot is just Groot that we love i will not say anything more.

I think Will Poulter's Adam Warlock was a mixed bag at best. Though I liked how seriously Poulter played the character, there weren't really enough parts in the film that let him to stand out too much Nevertheless, Im excited to see him in the future.

Cosmo is a New addition to the family and what a Great one i loved it so much can't wait for the character future because Cosmo is great in the comics. On the other hand Nebula arc is one of the best arcs in MCU history that is all I'm going to say.

John Murphy Music shares more stylistically with The Suicide Squad opposed to Tyler Bates work but it still remembers to use that iconic theme at the right moment and Awesome Mix - Vol 3 is excellent. No longer focusing on a single decade it creates something much more unique.

Finally, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 may be an uneven film at times, but it remains touching and endearing, with a fascinating study of its characters. Overall, it's a fitting and satisfying conclusion to one of Marvel's most beloved franchises.

John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)
24 March 2023
As thrilling and relentless as any action movie before it, John Wick: Chapter 4 is an adrenaline injection with Oscar worthy stunt work, assured direction and Keanu Reeves as magnetic as ever. The best Chapter yet...

John Wick: Chapter 4 feels like a film where Director Chad Stahelski understood that he finally had the freedom and the budget to do, literally, anything he wanted on the screen-and might never again-so by God, he was going to do it.

With characters able to dodge bullets left, right and centre, the film is a homage to the classic martial-arts genre with a sprinkling of old Hollywood Westerns where protagonists never seem to run out of ammunition or ways to stay alive.

The movie also deepens its mythology, exploring more aspects of The High Table's history and hierarchy. We learn more about John Wick's past and his connection to other characters in this world. We also meet new faces that add more flavor and diversity to the franchise. Donnie Yen plays Caine, a fellow assassin who shares a bond with John Wick. Bill Skarsgård plays Marquis, a mysterious figure who has ties to The High Table. Hiroyuki Sanada plays Shimazu, a ruthless leader of a Japanese crime syndicate.

Donnie Yen brings not only his skills as one of the finest martial arts movie stars in the world, but lends his presence as a charismatic and riveting figure. He plays the role of Caine with complexity and humanity that is a terrific mirror to Reeves' Wick; his friend and adversary by circumstance. This was a fantastic choice to take the Wick series to a new level.

Overall, John Wick: Chapter 4 is a satisfying conclusion (or is it?) to one of the best action franchises of recent years. It delivers more of what fans love about this series: stunning action sequences, cool visuals, charismatic performances, and intriguing lore. It also leaves room for more potential stories in this universe.

The Father (2020)
17 March 2023
The Father truly broke me. Florian Zeller's take on dementia is a heart-breaking, Surreally realistic approach to what could be conceived as a sensitive subject matter for many. The story follows a man (Anthony Hopkins) who refuses all assistance from his daughter (Olivia Colman) as he ages. As he tries to make sense of his changing circumstances, He begins to doubt his loved ones, His own mind and even the fabric of his reality, Culminating in what, for me, Was the most emotional I've been watching a film for quite some time.

Dementia is a gruelling disease. It takes a person you love and care about and turns them into a fractured consciousness of what laid before, Staring back at you with hollow eyes unsure who, or what you are. They're still themselves, But the information they remember becomes sporadic to the point that, One day, they might look at you with those hollow eyes. Forgetting their family, Their friends and even their children is all too common as you watch someone's memories fade and their confusion take front and centre stage.

There was one line in particular, Around the hour mark, That truly got me. Hopkins turns and looks at Coleman's character and gently exclaims "Anne, thank you for everything". This line, The delivery and scene that surrounds it shattered me into a thousand pieces and what followed can only be described as remarkable, leaving me heavy hearted with a tear in my eye till it's inevitable heart-breaking conclusion. Colman is sure to garner critical acclaim for her performances as Anne, and rightly so, But it's Hopkin's performance within this movie that the film truly thrives on. He's phenomenal, utterly, utterly breathtaking in the leading role.

Creed III (2023)
8/10
Jonathan Majors rules.
1 March 2023
Creed 3 is a confident directorial debut from star Michael B. Jordan that shows he's already achieved a mastery of the formula that's brought the series so much success.

Let Me Start By Saying That Michael B. Jordan and His Co-Star Jonathan Majors Steals The Show. I Will Talk Especially About Majors in a Little.

If anybody here is a Rocky fan, that should sound as familiar as a boxer working a speed bag. Structurally, Creed3 doesn't do much to break that mold, but it doesn't necessarily need to. Jordan's understanding of the formula that brought success to the franchise is one of this film's strengths. To bring something fresh to the eighth sequel in a franchise, you have to get what works about it in the first place in order to effectively Add Something New.

One of the strengths of the movie is that the characters around Donnie are all effective foils for his struggles, but they're not limited to that role. Each of them is given their own agency in serving the story being told. Tessa Thompson's Bianca is there to challenge him. But she's also portrayed as somebody dealing with similar issues in a much healthier and productive way. Phylicia Rashaad's Marry Anne makes mistakes but has her reasons and owns her responsibility for them.

I Want to take a moment to praise jonathan majors performance in this movie and in hollywood right now this man is a rockstar who can carry movies by himself.

At The End, While Creed 3 may not stray too far from the very familiar format of a Rocky movie, seeing Creed truly begin a legacy of his own apart from Rocky Balboa is an exciting chapter for the series.

Kang Rules
18 February 2023
After a frustratingly rough act 1, Ant-Man And The Wasp Quantumania finally gets going, only to end where this story should've began. While the external stakes are clear & weighty, emotional drive felt slight (and levity even lighter). That said, Jonathan Majors rules.

My biggest issue is that I wasn't fully engaged for at least the first half of the movie. I was enjoying it but I wasn't locked in. The story was unfocussed. When the villain becomes prevalent, the movie jumps a level. But it doesn't completely make up for the much weaker first half.

The other thing that surprised me was not being mesmerized by the visuals. It's very creative and I didn't notice poor CGI like some others. But it didn't wow me like it frequently does. Maybe we're just getting spoiled with the visuals in movies like Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness and more recently Avatar 2.

M. O. D. O. K Was Good But Not As i Wanted, I Understand Where The Hate Come From.

Michelle Pfeiffer Was Amazing Maybe the Third Time is Charm Great Dialogue And Backstory.

Of Course Jonathan Major Steals The Show So Excited For What Comes next for Him The Man is A Beast.

One of the things I didn't like in the movie is the misuse of The wasp Even Kathryn Newton Had a better writing in the movie pitch. As always paul Rudd delivers and Proves that he is one of marvel's best casting.

One of the best aspects about the movie is the soundtrack Christophe Beck fascinates once again.

At the end, I enjoyed watching Quantumania. It's a mostly solid and fairly entertaining movie. But relative to MCU standards, it's a bit underwhelming and feels like more of a throwaway movie than something memorable I will keep coming back to.

A Fitting Tribute
13 November 2022
In a cinematic universe where half of all living beings have already died and come back to life, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever reminds us that losing one person can feel just as devastating. The death of T'Challa - and actor Chadwick Boseman - weighs heavy on Wakanda Forever, with the fictional nation struggling to replace both their monarch and their champion, and Marvel Studios deciding how to honor a man it was clearly ready to work with for years and years to come. Wakanda Forever is an effective, emotional farewell to T'Challa - a meditation on forging one's own future out of a painful past - but with a plot that has to introduce an entirely new nation and pave the way for a new wave of Marvel stories, it does struggle under the weight of all that expectation .

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever wastes no time addressing Boseman's passing, with a chaotic and tense opening scene leaving Shuri (Letitia Wright) feeling responsible for her brother's death. The funeral procession that follows speaks to the incredibly fine line Wakanda Forever has to walk: even in their mourning, there's joyous dancing and celebration of what T'Challa brought to the nation, but Shuri's solemnity as she moves through holding T'Challa's Panther helmet is a strong reminder of the conflicting emotions she and the movie at large have to balance .

I liked shuri's arc in this movie both her and namor are the two that carried the movie. Riri williams is a great addition to the movie and i cant't wait to see her in her own series iron heart. Talokan people were great too. Martin Freeman and another outstanding performance. Ludwig Goransson with another great score that diserves an oscar too.

What i didn't like about this movie is its runtime and sometimes i felt lost in the middle. Namor motives were weak for me. Other than that well crafted movie by coogler.

Coogler pulls off an incredible feat, despite some story stumbles, creating a superhero film that is emotionally affecting, politically and culturally urgent, and that pays loving tribute not just to T'Challa but Chadwick Boseman too.

"the stakes never acquire much urgency in a movie too busy being jokey and juvenile to tell a gripping story."
7 July 2022
Allow me to start of by saying that it's a worthwhile watch at the movies, as the visual spectacle and jokes will keep anyone well entertained during its runtime.

But I have to address the elephant in the room which is it's jokes. Don't get me wrong, the movie has a lot of very good jokes I genuinely laughed out loud, but the movie was so focused on delivering jokes non-stop that it became a parody of itself.

The fourth installment in the thor franchise didn't bring anything new to the franchise and didn't proceed the bigger mcu story.

Despite the great casting which I loved each one of them the weak script didn't give them the range to fully unleash their abilities espically the GOAT Christian bale the Thing is ... he's the only one who tried to bring any amount of seriousness to the movie, and was severely underutilized. He was creepy and intimidating. His character had the right motivation for what he was doing. He had everything a good villain needs. I'm not exaggerating when I say that in the almost 2 hour runtime of the movie he was present about 25-30 minutes in total , which was short for me we needed more of him .

I love taika waititi style of directing from Thor Ragnarok and I loved it here too , I loved the cinematography and the soundtrack was amazing and give the vibes of the 80s.

At the end Thor Love And Thunder is not a bad movie but they could've done better with this incredible cast .

Have low expectations and you will not be disappointed
29 May 2022
The sequel to the 2016 doctor strange has deliverd great visuals and some horror elements that we haven't seen in a mcu film before, Raimi bulled this one perfectly.

Sam Raimi definitely put a splash of horror in this action film. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is darker & more violent than any previous MCU movie, which could be considered a strength. However, I felt like there was not enough multiverse and maybe too much madness. Despite the entertaining visuals, the plot is fairly chaotic, and the acting & dialogue are inconsistent. This movie is an entertaining ride, but it's a little too messy to stand on its own.

One of the best things about this film is the action sequences they were not long but they were made with raimi style and all the cast were great but elizabeth olsen was the shining star of the movie.

At the end, Multiverse of Madness isn't wildly unconventional in its story choices, but the fun it has exploring the possibilities of this narrative makes it a treat.
