3 Body Problem (2024)
Another day another "try hard to become HBO" project
The premise of the story is pretty interesting specially that I know nothing about the source material, but the show is really boring. Cheap VFX, cheap acting, the characters feel like they are cheaply written physicists, like when someone tells you "I have a a lot of friends who are physicists".
Netflix is trying so hard to become HBO but it isn't able to do that, their big budget shows are a disappointment most of the time. If you enter the 1 hour episode territory I am expecting greatness not yawns and constant time checks.
Also remembering the directors brought some really bad memories for me, the north remembers.
Beef (2023)
A24 x Netflix might go places
Finally a nice Netflix show !
Been a while since I have actually opened netflix, I even cancelled ny subscription a few months back and watched it with my roommate. Netflix has a chance to stick with A24 to finally produce quality content instead of cheap fast ROI tv shows (if I can even call them that).
Steven Yeun is a solid lead and Ali Wong is amazing !
Very unique show when it comes to jumping between multiple genres, I have never seen too many genres packed in a mini series like that. The pacr of the episodes was perfect and the show is super bingeable.
Also kudos to the trailer team ! Finally a trailer that doesn't show the whole story and is pretty ambiguous when it comes to the actual story, makes you want to actually watch the show.
Billionaire Boys Club (2018)
Cheap
Very cheaply made piece of (f)art.
Cheap production: They had to exclusively mention that this film is taking place in the 80s in order for me to realize it was the 80s. Very bad decor and very bad customes.
Cheap script: it's just the most cringy and boeing script I have ever heard. I legit lost some respect for some actors for even agreeing to act with this script :D.
Cheap story: it's said that it's based on a true story and apparently it's far from real, typically when you decide to stray away from the real story you come up with a banger, but in that case it was a pretty bad, empty story.
I wouldn't suggest this movie even to my worst enemies.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Boring, empty and james cameron is just lucky
I am not a family man but this movie might be cool for a family movie ? Idk
This movie is boring and tbh I never found the first one nice but at least the first one was new experience with 3D and that's it.
30 mins in and I started yawning, 45 mins in and I left. There is no story, action is boring, CGI is a trip to the 2012s nothing impressive. Script is weird and feels like someone who is trying to fit in with the young gen wrote it. Not a fan of James Cameron overall, other than titanic I see him as an average director. I wouldn't recommend this movie at all even if you are looking to burn some time.
This movie will succeed in the cineme off the hype of the first one, but a third part won't go anywhere. Nice try James, boring execution.
Atlanta (2016)
Dark Comedy
Atlanta is the definition of dark comedy, the joke is too funny but after a couple of seconds it turns out to be a sad reflection of reality...
Drama aside, the direction/sound production/visuals/acting/costumes and overall vibe is immaculate ! One of my fav of all time, I highly recommend it.
I am glad that Donald Glover decided to stop at 4 seasons when something is that magical an end date is always a smart move.
I love all the characters but Darius (LaKeith) is out of this world, his looks alone kills me !
Overall 10/10 show highly recommended s3 and s4 are straight 10s for me and s1 and s2 are as good too !
The Bear: Review (2022)
This is the one !
Every promising show has this one episode that fully showcases its full potential. This episode is the one, brilliant directing (my fav one shot sequence), superb acting and as always pretty nice script.
The intensity of the episode had me feeling like it was 10 mins long, I finished the episode looked at my roommate and went for the second rewatch instantly. Love it when shows are brilliant and enjoyable without a crazy budget, famous actors or any type of overdoing stuff. It's really refreshing to watch a bingeable show again !
Love it and can't wait for the finale to drop on Disney plus and most importantly for the second season too.
Westworld: Well Enough Alone (2022)
We are getting somewhere
Honestly after watching season 1 of the show and the masterpiece it was I simply can't stop watching westworld. The people who are capable of making a masterpiece in season 1 mudt have something else up rheir pockets. I hated s2 but loved s3. Didn't like episode 1 s4 but loved that one, because it shows you the potential this show has. I am really optimistic about the show's future and I hope I am not disappointed.
Love, Death & Robots: The Very Pulse of the Machine (2022)
Why the hate ?
These episodes are why I am a big fan of this show. You don't watch this show for the story (although the stories are awesome imo) but you watch it to appreciate the overall creative process !! The unique art styles that comes with every episode and the vibe are the show makes it an awesome project !
Keep up the great work !
Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber: The Charm Offensive (2022)
Elegant way of telling a story
This show reviews are very weird, the lowest rated episodes are somehow always the best. Great episode and great show overall, recaps multiple phases of Uber in a very smart way.
The Devil All the Time (2020)
Masterpiece !
Acting is phenomenal, story is interesting and very well executed ! Netflix been stepping up their game.
