Meet Joe Black (1998)
This One Will Hit You In The Feels
I rarely write a review, but in this case, I'm making an exception, albeit late (Very late). I don't care for dramatic films generally, however, I watched this not long after it was released on DVD and I really fell in love with it! Primarily because it's a different version of Death Takes A Holiday. I throughly enjoyed the character development of the main cast and I also liked the cute love story that developed but, I was not ready for the emotional wreckage that occurred with Sir Anthony Hopkins character. I'm not one who cries while watching a film, but I lost it. Again, I'm not much of a fan of drama but this was spectacular! I've given too many spoilers away but I urge anyone who wants to really feel something special, to drop what they're doing and rent/buy this! (It's available on Amazon)
The New WKRP in Cincinnati (1991)
I Loved WKRP, Just Not This Version
The original WKRP In Cincinnati was brilliant, with hilarious stories. This sequel series, not so much. I really wanted to adore it, I tried! There's a few sparks of genius of old but the remaining ones were mediocre at best. It had been almost 10 years since the original series ended but the new show picked up only about a week later. Besides the timing (and obvious aging of the actors) the plot lines were weak. The bottom line is, even as a rabid fan of the original series, even that could not make this watchable.
Me, Myself and I (2017)
The Most Heartwarming Show In Years! It Was Canceled!?!
It's unusual for me to get immediately hooked on a sitcom. That being said I was on board for the ride from the first episode! I found it to be charming and endearing with a very unique plot. As we find out from the beginning the show takes place during 3 different periods of the main character Alex's life. His middle school days, his midlife days, and his "golden years ". I very much enjoyed the cast as it had several well known talents as well as some fresh faces. I think the fact that it was canceled after airing only 6 episodes with the remaining 7 only available on CBS All Access is such a travesty! I don't believe that any other outlet will pick it up and revive it but it would most certainly be a huge success.
Bottom line is if you ever get the chance to see it do yourself a favor and watch and/or buy it!
