The Diplomat (II) (2023– )

Outstanding!
5 May 2023
Outstanding show! And, it's been renewed for a second season, and deservedly so. It's brilliant. Keri Russell as the American Ambassador to the UK does an exceptional job, as does the entire cast. It's a treat to see roles for strong women with brilliant minds, astute dialogue, in top leadership positions. It makes one appreciate those in foreign service, because Stewart has a thankless task at times trying to assist the Ambassador. The behind the scenes political international maneuverings are astounding. Plus, the building interiors are a treat for all Anglophiles and lovers of architecture and European grandeur. I will definitely rewatch this season again.

We're binge-watching this is so great!
13 February 2022
It's Feb 2022, and we're watching this series for the first time. It's addictive! The writing is outstanding with all the twists and turns. Jennifer and Reese are well matched and do a great job, as do many of the cast. Some serious topics, for sure, and topical. Looking forward to the 3rd season.

Ordinary Joe (2021–2022)

They all look far too old for their 10th year college reunion.
25 September 2021
This has an intriguing premise, although it gets a bit confusing at times. Having each Joe with a different color (Rocker Joe is orange; nurse Joe is green; NYPD Joe is blue) helps a bit. What really bothered me was this was the 10th year reunion from college and they're supposedly 31 or a bit older. No way. I may watch the second episode, but if it gets too messy with all three Joes continuing to meet various versions of Amy and Jenny, I'll pass.

The Prom (2020)

A heartfelt & affirming movie
20 February 2021
As a gay woman I never had the opportunity to go to the prom. How different my life would've been if people had been more excepting when I was growing up. Thank you, Mr. Murphy for a wonderful film. I loved all the songs and the dancing. In an interview Meryl Streep said at age 71 she had more dancing than anyone, and she did a fabulous job. The cast gave heartfelt performances, especially Jo Ellen Pellman as Emma. I encourage everyone to see this affirming, fun film. Love is love is love.

The Equalizer (2021– )

I actually watched this & thought this was top rate.

I admit I like Queen Latifah, and she doesn't disappoint in this new series. She's brilliant, resourceful, tough, has some awesome self-defense moves, is fearless,, and has some great backup. She's determined to help those who think there is no hope., and she proves them wrong. If you enjoy fast paced dramas, with a strong woman, who happens to be black, tune in. Let's make sure this series continues.

I turned it on for Sally Field & will see where it leads
2 March 2020
I enjoy Sally Field and it has been awhile since I've seen her in a series, so I tuned in. It's different than anything I've seen recently, and at first I wasn't sure I'd like it. But, I kept watching and as more characters joined Peter, it became more intriguing. The four in this "family" are a diverse, quirky mix, but I think that will keep my interest. Yes, there is some social commentary with the characters, but isn't that life? I find people different from me intriguing and so I'll continue with this and see where it leads. Reviewers who lament they wasted their time seemed to be closed to new experiences. What would your response be if you were Peter?

Molly's Game (2017)

Ms Chastain gives another awesome performance
30 July 2019
Ms Chastain tends to pick strong women roles, many times based on real women, as in Molly Bloom. We are all the more richer for her superb acting too. Molly was willing to give everything up, because her own name was the only thing she had left. Idris Elba gives a strong performance as the attorney willing to take her case. I enjoyed Kevin Costner as her father and Whitney Peak as the bright daughter of Elba's attorney.

Outstanding!
8 April 2019
I was captivated from the start and all the twists and turns were riveting. To think this was based on a true story and that Ruth Wilson plays her own grandmother in this is another amazing fact. Well worth a repeat viewing.

Cute, light movie; Anne Hathaway is a treat
21 October 2018
I wasn't expecting too much from this "chick flick", but I found it enjoyable and humorous. The supposedly good girl, Anne Hathaway sneaking around, in attempts to sabotage her former BFF's weddings preps had me laughing out loud. But then I always enjoy AH and she didn't disappoint.

Awesome sequel.
21 August 2018
I loved the first one and was a bit hesitant about this one, because how could it be improved upon? I was happily wrong, because this has charm, an excellent script, awesome scenery, and good acting, including an outstanding performance ( singing and acting) by Lily James ( she will go far). The opening scene where a younger Donna is addressing her senior class gets you immediately into the mood. Yes, I choked up a few times, laughed out load, cheered and also greatly enjoyed Cher's appearance. Forget La La Land; this is far better. I predict it will be nominated for the following Oscars, at a minimum: Best Original Script, Best Costumes, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Actress (or Supporting depending how it's defined) for Lily James. Yes, it is that good. Treat yourself.

Miss Sloane (2016)

Awesome Performance by Jessica Chastain in Brilliant Movie
2 July 2017
Outstanding movie and brilliant performance by Jessica Chastain. It can be a little confusing at first and it's fast paced just as her character, Elizabeth Sloane is. Riveting portrayal of lobbying on Capitol Hill. A bit unfortunate that a gun control law is the focus, because that got NRA members to boycott, even if they knew little about the movie. Otherwise I think the box office total would have been much higher. Because it could have been any bill, the emphasis is on her and her commitment to win.

Ms. Chastain is awesome. I truly believe she's up there with Meryl Streep in acting ability. This is one of the best movies I've seen this year.
