Justice League (2017)
Pretty fine for a DC movie.
This is actually a pretty decent DC movie. it's not as good as wonder woman (though not by much) JL is definitely much better than MoS or BvSDoJ. though i wasn't really hyped for this movie i was really interested in seeing it. at first it started out kind of confusingly and the worst parts of the movie are from the start, the movie gets much better the more it progresses. the villain was pretty OK. though he was the usual expendable superhero movie villain he did seem threatening at times. so let's get to the characters: most of the characters were just fine i guess. they weren't terrible nor they were super amazing. flash has some good jokes. Aquaman was really made to be cool again, cyborg was basically like a robot (pun intended) and wonder woman was mostly just like in her movie. the best character of the movie is (very surprisingly) Superman. there is a scene right after he is brought back to life when he is (kind of) evil (i think) and fighting the justice league, especially when he gets to batman... he is terrifying AF. now that obviously isn't the only reason he is the best. this time he actually has some character. he has some nice lines of dialogue and the filmmakers even tried to pay homage to Christopher reeve. in short: Superman isn't boring like in Man of Steel or Batman v Superman and for me this movie redeemed Henry Cavill. Lois lane isn't. she's still the same boring Lois lane as in BvS. she had a scene with Clark's mom and it was the worst and most boring scene in the movie. her only purpose was really to make Superman ,,not evil anymore.'' Batman was changed from BvS a little probably because people considered him boring. he does have a few funny lines but he's fine i guess. so final sentence: probably the more fun DC movie which could be better but you can enjoy it.
Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983)
wow. what a piece of garbage
this movie is easily the worst of the trilogy. and it's not just blind hate... i really wanted to like this movie especially after how entertaining the previous ones were even though i've been warned that this one sucks. and yes, this movie is terrible and boring. almost everything is bad 1. characters: the characters are just a shadow of their former selves. Darth Vader isn't intimidating anymore, emperor pal patine is just a bad generic villain. actually the whole empire is just terrible now. Han Solo,Leia or Luke aren't even 1% as entertaining and interesting as they used to be, they are just boring. 2. the effects: the special effects used to be among the best in these star wars movies. in this one, they are the worst imaginable. this movie even uses some terrible CGI, though not a lot of it 3. the story: the story is completely boring and not much happens. the first 35 minutes is main characters running from the awful Jabba The Hut. then there is something about the empire making another death star (hmm where have i seen this before???) then they get to the Ewok planet, a bunch of teddy bears are able to defeat an army force of storm-troopers with laser guns (they are the most incompetent here) then the empire is defeated for good. though there is one good moment. it's near the end when Darth Vader is almost dead and he talks to Luke. this is a genuinely emotional moment. and then the movie ends with a musical number. way to ruin the only good moment in the movie. summary: complete crap. worst of the series. don't watch it... seriously
Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Improved but not perfect
i wanted to see the star wars trilogy and look at it with a critical eye. so when i watched this movie i expected anything. the movie was pretty fine and definitely an improvement over the previous one. though i don't have too much to say about this movie. i'd mostly say the same that i said about the first (fourth) one. so this review will be more or less minimal 1. the story: what i appreciate is that this is a ,,good'' sequel. it's what a sequel should be: a continuation. this is a pretty good continuation. it's not a rehash of the first one and the story itself is quite decent. also the most iconic star wars moments come from this movie. 2. the characters: the characters are for the most part. just like in the last one (especially the best character Han solo) but in this part Luke's character has actually grown a bit as he was learning to become a Jedi and use the ,,force'' or basically to become an omnipotent space wizard. Darth Vader and Chewbacca got to really shine in this movie and were infinitely better than in the predecessor. also Yoda was introduced and he was fine i guess. 3. the action: thankfully this movie didn't have a lot of storm-trooper shootout scenes. this is probably the biggest improvement over the last movie. the last movie had very boring action with no stakes since the storm-troopers literally miss every shot they take. here we only had one storm-trooper shootout and it was pretty quick. summary: fine movie. better than the last one but still grossly overrated. the biggest problem with these movies is that they are in the middle of kids movies and adult sci-fi
Star Wars (1977)
Decent but still Overrated
i've seen a lot of fan(boys) of the star wars series on the internet and elsewhere. it's really rooted in our culture by now. so i decided to give the original trilogy a shot. so i obviously started with the first (fourth) one. i wanted to look at it with a critical eye and give it some constructive criticism. this movie is actually pretty decent and enjoyable, but obviously has its flaws too. I'm gonna talk about both. 1. the characters: the characters are great. the character development and interaction are mostly good. from the characters the best one is Harrison ford's Han solo. he's really the classic cynical antihero which creates funny situations when interacting with the more hero type characters such as Luke or princess Leia. Darth Vader is also menacing but he's really just the appetizer for the sequels. the other characters are also good in their own way but Han solo and Vader are the best ones 2. the villain(s) and action: this movie has both a singular and a collective villain. the singular villain is the dark lord Darth Vader. he's as said a very menacing character with near endless power and resources. but they kept him more tamed to shine more later. then there's the collective villain of the whole empire (and storm-troopers). they suck. every scene where the main characters have shootouts with the storm-troopers are boring because there are 0 stakes since (after the Vogons) the storm-troopers are the (second) worst shooters in the galaxy. which means there is no tension and i don't feel anything. the storm-troopers are such bad villain(s) that it's basically a pop culture joke by now. 3. the story: the story is fine. it's simple but effective. though a problem i've had is that there are some huge coincidences. for example: the robots which hold the information about the death star got very coincidentally on a planet which obi wan happens to be in and even before got in the possession of (the) Luke Skywalker. but those are probably very minor problems. the rest of the story is good. it's the classic hero saves the princess. except it's set in future and in space. i guess that's clever. though the story and the movie (most likely intentionally) don't go much far into the whole big story. there is no Yoda and Jabba the hut is just barely mentioned. not too much happens. and compared to ,,Empire Strikes Back'' it's really weak. summary: an enjoyable entertaining movie though with some flaws is definitely not bad but the fans still overrate it with the entire series.
Arrival (2016)
Terrible, Borderline boring and Nonsense
this movie was awful. it was nonsense and if just less happened it would be boring to death. though there were some good things about it. the premise was new and original, the cinematography was nice, acting was fine and *some* visuals like the alien ship were great. but the negatives outweigh the benefits. so why is this so bad? 1. nothing happens: the plot of this movie is so minimal and boring. all that happens is that aliens come to earth, Amy Adams talks to them, Chinese guy gets angry for no reason, aliens leave. and this is a 2 hour movie. as i said it's almost completely boring 2. unoriginal: this movie as i said has an amazing refreshing and original premise. there were possibilities to what directions this movie could go in. and the completely unoriginal filmmaker hacks decided to make the most boring and unoriginal thing of this. and the designs of the aliens are just as unoriginal. you could do so much with some creative designers... so the studio made sentient trees! (or squids whatever). 3. the twist: there are a number of confusing flashback sequences Amy Adams gets where she sees her dead daughter. the ,,twist'' is that it's actually her future daughter because she can see future thanks to the alien language... well that was unnecessary and dumb... 4. the characters: every character is completely dumb. even the ,,intelligent'' alien life forms are idiots. so first the army: they ask Amy Adams if she can translate some alien gibberish babble noises because she's good at languages. then they send a team of people into a ship of potentially hostile aliens just like that. the aliens are also dumb. if they can see the future and know that ,,some threat'' will threaten them and that earth will reject them why didn't they do something like defending themselves and not going to earth which they know will reject them? Amy Adams is also an idiot. after she gets flash-forwards of her daughter and knows she will die (yeah the daughter is just a bad plot device. not even like a source of character motivation or something) and she asks the alien: ,,who is that child?'' so not just is she dumb she has no common sense. also she knows her daughter will die in the future she still goes to hawkeye and basically tells him if he wants to f***. all the characters are not just dumb, they are completely bland and uninteresting. i don't even know their names. 5. it's too long: as i said before the premise is interesting but the movie is unoriginal and boring. but this movie could be much better if it at least was shorter. if this was a short film festival kind of a movie it would be a lot better. but the fact that it's 2 hours long makes it boring and unentertaining. 6. interstellar: there is a movie from i think 2014 it's called interstellar or something and well it's infinitely better than arrival. not comparing the plots but what Nolan has done with interstellar is the exact opposite of arrival. he took a very boring premise and made it interesting and entertaining while i genuinely felt emotion thanks to how good the story was. this movie took a good premise and made it boring. i felt literally no emotion even though the movie tried to force it on me with the violin music piece. ugh. Tl;Dr: arrival sucks, don't watch it
Nejasná zpráva o konci sveta (1997)
what did i just watch?
when i saw the title of the movie and even the IMDb rating i was interested. ,,hmm'' i thought, maybe this will be good and interesting. but no. it was boring... and weird. basically the entire plot is about people in a small 19th century village talking and shooting wolves??? then a modern helicopter(!) with some army guy shows up and then it goes back to boring scenes of people talking and shooting wolves.
1/10 don't recommend
La vie d'Adèle (2013)
Mostly boring and not entertaining
this movie is pretty meh... it has like two great scenes in it and that's literally just because those scenes are made to be (surprisingly great) porn. everything else about this movie is boring. the filmmakers forgot that the one thing no one wants to see in porn is ,,story'' and scenes of people just doing things other than what you expect from porn. not just that but they added 3 hours of boring scenes to those 2 normal scenes that actually serve the purpose. final rating: 3/10 just because of these 2 amazing scenes it's not a 1 or 2
Iron Sky (2012)
Not sure what to think after seeing this
this is a very weird movie. the basic premise is that Nazis have a base on the moon and want to invade earth, that itself sounds crazy. and that's what this movie is: it's crazy but kind of fun. i'd say the first act up to the beginning of the second act weren't very fun and a little boring maybe. but then then movie went crazy in the end of the second act until the third act, and it was getting crazier until a point when it became kind of sad. final sentence: 7-7.5/10 it's fine but you may not like it
King Candy (2015)
pretty good for an indie film
even though this is a short indie film (46 minutes to be exact) it is kind of entertaining to watch... not that the cinematography was the best because after all this is a lower budget film, but the story is pretty interesting even though i have to say it's a little similar to The High (also made by Ralph Sepe Jr.) it's still pretty original... the main character is pretty well developed and you pretty much can understand his motivation. nothing feels rushed and i'd say if it was longer ( like over an hour or so) it wouldn't work... but i have to say one problem of the story is that i quickly forgot what it was about at the start (then you kind of get reminded in one specific scene but that's not very important anyways) overall: pretty fine but i hope future stories will be different
