Rookie Blue (2010)
We need more TV shows like this today...
Watching this series in 2021 gave me a feeling of nostalgia; you know, before the woke and overly political plot themes took over... Hence why I have resorted to watching older TV shows as of late. Rookie Blue is a feel good, easy to watch show. It is hard not to fall in love with the characters and their stories. There are only about a handful of Canadian TV dramas that I have thoroughly enjoyed, as at times they come across as low budget or borderline cheesy. As a Canadian, I can admit that the caliber of film production from the US has set a high standard for prime time television.. one that is not often matched in Canadian dramas. However, I loved Rookie Blue - binge watching 6 seasons in a few weeks time. If you haven't watched it yet, give it a chance! My only critique would be that 6 seasons are not enough!
Bosch (2014)
Another great show bites the dust
Review for seasons 1-6 was easily a 9/10; sadly season 7 fell flat. I give it a 4/10 dropping my overall rating to 7/10. The characters and story lines have always been highly entertaining, making it easy to binge watch entire seasons in 2-3 days. The excitement I felt when I saw season 7 was out on Prime, quickly dissipated with the woke storylines. (An annoying reoccurring theme with every other TV show I used to enjoy pre 2021). Aside from that, it felt rushed and left a lot to be desired. Frankly, It would have been better if season 7 never happened.
My final comment - Lately I have resorted to re-watching older TV series; before everything became about pushing the same garbage narratives. Perhaps these Hollywood writers should do the same to remind themselves how to do plot and character development without everything being entirely centered on the "ist" / "phobe" / CV19 agenda. I know I am not alone when I say IM OVER IT.
The Resident (2018)
In a time where many of us have been turned off of medical dramas due to CV19 - The Resident is still a compelling and entertaining watch
At the start of season 4, we saw that the first episode did somewhat center around the pandemic but counteracted the negative with some lighter and happy moments. I do not agree with every view point / narrative portrayed surrounding covid and I don't think a vaccine is the cure all but its TV... It doesn't have to be entirely realistic to be a good medical show. I appreciated that following that first episode, CV19 was no longer the main focus and allowed the doctors to return to interesting cases and dramas in the hospital. I personally tune into shows to escape the harsh realities of everyday life. It is to the point now where I don't even want to watch the news anymore let alone most other tv shows because of the fearmongering and politics. The last thing I want to see in the fictional shows I watch is more of the same.
Overall the characters are likable and the storyline is very entertaining. I hope this show has many more seasons to come.
The Good Doctor (2017)
Season 4 is TOTAL GARBAGE
Changed my rating from an 8 to a 3. As with many other of my favorite tv shows that have returned this year, I am disgusted and completely turned off as a viewer by the far left / social justice warrior narrative that each and every episode has to shove down your throat. Not to mention the fact that majority of us watch tv shows as a way to relax and escape the realities of everyday life; the way this show is now - inundated with CV19 and PC propaganda I might as well just tune into CNN.
