The Orville: Electric Sheep (2022)
Where's the humour?
I was positively foaming of delight when I started to watch the episode. All the shiny new sfx and new locations are eye candy for sure, even Isaac had a nice new makeover. There were a few tense scenes and serious moments to boot, but fell way short in the humour department. I mean, I know this episode focused on a more mature and serious subject matter, but I missed the odd comedic encounters we got from the other seasons. Perhaps they're saving those moments for the other episodes? We shall have to wait and see.
Antlers (2021)
Oh Deer...
This was utterly boring and predictable and felt like a chore to watch. It's always a bad gimmick when movies rely on real life trauma to boost the story instead of focussing on the actual creature and its lore.
Cruella (2021)
Absolutely Fabulous
First off, this was a great movie! Dark and funny in all the right places, and the 'bitchy' performances from the two Emma's were the icing on the already terrific cake. I loved the style and the time period in which it took place.
The cast were a marvelous choice and fitted their roles perfectly. Some of the scenes reminded me of 'The Devil Wears Prada' and 'Death Becomes Her', both of which ooze utter 'bitchiness' from the likes of Meryl Streep's characters.
The film itself was a glorious work of art and I will certainly watch this ensemble again, darling...
Superintelligence (2020)
Cringeworthy
What a waste of time! Childish and unfunny. I tried my utter best to enjoy this film and kept waiting for something funny to happen, but alas, it fell completely flat. I used to enjoy Melissa's movies (Spy, The Heat, Tammy), but this is just abysmal and utterly bland to the point of being totally forgettable.
Thunder Force (2021)
Terrible movie
I can not for the life of me figure out how and why this movie was made, it is awful to say the least. They could have done so much better than this dreadful affair. There are moments of pure cringe and horrid acting. Some scenes feel horribly forced and you just feel like saying, get on with it already, let the action begin.
Isn't there supposed to be a panel of proof readers to check out the script to make sure it is funny enough to air? None of this movie was funny and I'm a really tolerant person who will give any movie a fighting chance, but this and Superintelligence, were annoyingly boring and felt like a chore to watch.
Next time, they should hand the director a dictionary to look up the word 'comedy' to see what it actually means.
