Underworld: Evolution (2006)
Sequel to Underworld- a movie about the ongoing war between the werewolves and the vampires
OK, so when I was watching the Ist Part - Underworld, I thought to myself...wow this Kate Bekinsale chick can really act. She's got this cool expression on her face which is just the right amount of intense. Its neither too Angelina-Jolie -I-can-save-the-world-with-my-left-hand- so-bring-it-on-bitch nor too chicken scared. Its just right. I was in love with that expression. But it was only when I saw Underworld- Evolution did I realize that HEY...THATS NOT AN EXPRESSION...THATS HER FACE. Girl, you wore that face while making love to Michael. WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG wrong!!! Besides this, the movie was pretty 'meh'...nothing special. Some good effects, but they couldn't save it for me. I highly recommend Underworld because I'm a total vampire freak....but don't watch this movie, just watch Underworld twice.
Mulholland Dr. (2001)
An accident on Mulholland Drive, an amnesic woman, another woman trying to find stardom....they come together to find out about the amnesic woman's past.
OK David Lynch...I've become a fan...Naomi Watts...I've become your fan too....Laura Herring...you look beautiful. This movie is great....has become one of my all time favorites. The movie begins with a scene of an accident on Mulholland Dr... a woman(Laura Herring) survives the car crash but forgets her memory. She hides in a vacant house and bumps into Betty(Naomi Watts) who has come to make a mark for herself in the glittery world of Hollywood. Betty tries to help the amnesic woman find the truth and her identity. Sounds like a simple plot but its not. I bet most of you will not be able to understand the movie till its mostly over....thats the catch. Technically, its a great film...with a few continuity issues(HA HA, I love pointing these out)...the sound design is superb...the script is compelling...everything falls into place...but what I loved the most about this movie is Naomi Watts...Ms Watts, someone very average on my list of favorite actresses, climbs the ladder and get really high after this movie. I had seen "The Ring" and I thought she was nice...But there is a scene in Mulholland Drive, when she is auditioning for a role against this much older actor...THAT scene...WOW....her performance is mind blowing. If you don't like thrillers or Lynch films or serious confusing films but appreciate performance, SEE this only for that one scene..it'll be worth it. Again, KUDOS for Mr Lynch and Ms Watts...great film...I highly recommend it.
King Kong (2005)
Remake of the classic with the same name
hmmm I'm a little disappointed..maybe its because a lot of people had already told me that this was a superb flick and so I was expecting something just too phenomenal...or maybe because I love Lords of The Ring trilogy so much that I expect Peter Jackson to make god like creations every time. Well its not a bad film, possibly the best visual effects I've seen since Lords of the ring ...Naomi Watts is always great. Jack Black played his role well...various times I hated his character..so good work Jack.Adrien Brody has such beautiful eyes that it makes me want to cry. I wish he had a more prominent role though. But the editors of the movie have made a few editing errors.. it wasn't a good idea using slow motion effects in various places, it just made it very jittery and disturbing...also a few continuity issues here and there..I speak like this because I'm an aspiring editor, so I don't suppose a lot of people will notice them..but still. I will conclude by saying that I expected more from a Peter Jackson movie...especially concerning the script which I didn't find at all gripping. I still prefer the old original king kong...anytime of the day, twice on Sundays.
Nachnewala Gaanewale (1991)
a wife winning back her husband from the clutches of another woman and her rich evil father
a wrong cast with inappropriate names..anyone coming from India or having an idea about the country would understand that no sexy woman in India could be named "Kamla" ...let alone a handsome man named "Chandar" and well lets just leave the highly obnoxious name "Pinki" alone. The movie revolves around the story of one named Kamla(Sheeba) who's husband Chandar(Shabaaz Khan) leaves her for another woman Pinki(Sarla) from a very rich family. Kamla becomes a renowned dancer and glamorous to win back her husband. I hate to be so critical but there is not a single thing that I liked about this particular flick....but yeah, I completely enjoyed it, but thats because I don't have a job and I'm kind of masochistic.
