Reckoning (2019)
Needed some script adjustments
Overall, not a bad flick. Turned out to be your basic revenge movie. However, with the unusual "mountain" people backdrop, it was hard to follow with the shallow script. A little more specific dialog early on detailing who's who and the "feud" would have helped. A feud over a watch and a tree seemed a little much, but I guess it could happen. The main character played her part well, and was believable as a protective mother. The kinfolk of the evil matriarch were somewhat caricatures, and the matriarch herself was a little bit ridiculous. Other viewers may have different opinions but, overall, it was not a bad movie. It picked up its pace fairly quickly and had a happy "revenge" style ending.
The Ravine (2021)
Different but decent film!
Unfortunately, all the 1 and 2 category reviews seemed to be off-putting because it had a spiritual message. I thought it was a decent movie that made you think about the struggles of the real world and those that fail to have faith. The 1 and 2 category reviewers fall into that class and bash it just because it's "faith". Belief in God is all too frequently the target of ridicule as can be read in these reviews. Acknowledging that there could be something bigger than our simple lives scares too many in today's society. Decadence has become the norm and it shows in movies and in some peoples response to a movie that even slightly promotes faith. It's a good movie. Period.
Conspiracy (2008)
Ridiculous! Don't waste your time!
-Let's start with one dimensional acting by Val Kilmer. He only had one expression and one emotion through the entire movie.
-Gratuitous nudity for absolutely no reason other than to show breasts while he's on a phone call. Huh-why?
-One dimensional characters and a very weak storyline.
-Ridiculous amount of violence, particularly in the final scenes with dozens of people being killed. (Gee, how did they explain all those murders to any outsiders? Aww, who cares about reality)
-Obviously slanted as pro-illegal immigration and portraying the "bad guys" as the xenophobic, evil Americans.
-The flower at the end was an attempt at a warm moment. It failed.
It was a train wreck without the engineer...
