What is down in the well comes up in the bucket!

What is down in the well comes up in the bucket!

It does not matter how sweet the water should be, just a a few drops of raw feces will ruin it. This work is full of the sewage of half-truths and diversion. Hollywood always depends that the insipience of its audiences will enable them to "enjoy" drinking the mix and rating the experience highly.

Hooked! And loving it!

Obviously I am a man, and will say without any hesitation that we are hooked on this series! My wife and I are best friends and there is nothing more we enjoy than finding a good British series to immerse ourselves together. We have done this for many years, initially finding them in our travels to Britain, and find that British shows seem to "out weigh" our American television on many levels.

The subject matter is really unique and absorbing and the acting superb! The complexity of the characters and their interaction, the humor, the secrets, the context, and the weight and undercurrents of its gracious messages have impacted us and continue to do so.

So many times it seems that these British series don't last and are canceled just as we are dedicated to them. It is rewarding to see "Call the Midwife" continuing on and we hope it does so for many years to come. We will continue to be fans as long as "Call the Midwife" lives!

Brings you in and for a moment you are no longer you.

So few movies have the ability to work the human magic that this film does. From the beginning you cringe, celebrate, heal, mourn, and realistically become a part of the lives of these people (I won't say characters, but people as they become people and no longer actors / characters). Hating and loving the people, there is no way to watch Fried Green Tomatoes and not have it impact you. That is unless your heart is scarred and become calloused to the point where you don't let anything in anymore.

The ins and outs, ups and downs... and oh yes.. the BBQ! It shape shifts you and draws you in. And for a moment of your life you are no longer you, but one of them. Just watch it. And if you would like to escape for 2 hours this is how you do it.

So Hollywood! Why won't you, can't you, make movies like this anymore? Its budget was 11 million and it grossed 13 times that much. I am sure it's not the money that stops you. I am not sure you have the talent to make a movie with the magic and the power of FGT.

Risen (2016)

You can feel the nails... and the freedom!
6 June 2017
I, like you, have likely watched so many films on the resurrection of our Lord Jesus. And so many have been left wanting. Risen is no different except to observe that it fills in many personal blanks left out of most other efforts.

I will just summarize instead of waxing. This film is superb in most ways! It is touching to submit a hardened Roman Tribune; at the crucifixion and death of Jesus, entwined within a struggle of Roman power and his sword obedience and his personal experience and therefore his undeniable belief.

What would you do? You supervise the brutal execution of an enemy of the state, and then witness the same man alive beyond a shadow of a doubt. You can never, ever... argue with a man that has had an experience. And that man cannot successfully argue with himself to an untrue conclusion.

This film screams... "Jesus Christ has risen from the dead!" Which is the only truth that separates Christianity from every other religion. Oh, but they "stole the body"...! From the Roman government. A sealed tomb. Guards present and subjected to death if they failed in their duty to stand guard at the tomb. Not rational or likely.

All of this is well addressed and noted.

The inaccuracy most observed in this film is when Jesus ascends to heaven at the conclusion movie. This didn't happen at the sea of Galilee, or where the film placed it, but on the Mount of Olives. Just outside Jerusalem.

But still I can imagine when Jesus ascended it wasn't this floaty, clean, nice, peaceful experience....... but I would like to think that when our Lord ascended it cleared the sinuses of anyone within and 10 KM radius. Love the blast wave! :0)

I am not much of a reviewer, but really did enjoy this film. And it touched me! As He has always!
