Without Remorse (2021)
Book totally different.
And it's a shame because it was one of Clancy's better books with a morally questionable hero. Clark is an assassin with some very dirty laundry in his past and is a vigilante as a younger man.
25 years in development can ruin anything but the movie is literally nothing like the book.
America: The Motion Picture (2021)
Pretty funny actually
I suspect the many jabs at trash US dude-bro culture offended the less intelligent and well read viewers. Make no mistake, this movie is completely nutty but also shows how far America has fallen.
Made me laugh out loud several times. But what do know, I'm just a pinko European who travelled through 30 states.
No Time to Die (2021)
What was that?
Tonally misguided, a mediocre script and uneven direction leaves Craig's Bond with an undeserved final entry. A torrent of plot holes and tech gaffes (EMP can kill nanobots). It has no point other than its end and lacks coherent theme and pace. Shame, truly.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Sort of funny but mostly cruel.
An utter narrative mess with a very imaginative execution by madman Gunn.
I think it's a terrible movie that hides cruelty as gags and has pretty bad one liners. I don't get why muricans are so excited about it.
I don't like it at all. In fact, despite the few good, funny yet dramatic scenes in there and some great action, I found the whole thing disturbing. Much like Gunn himself.
This movie is something they'd force Malcolm McDowell to watch in Clockwork Orange.
Outside the Wire (2021)
Garbage.
There is not a single likable character in this 2-hour commercial for Raytheon and everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves. Acting is phoned in and the screenplay takes itself far too seriously.
Yes, technology has gone WAY further than is generally known but this is the kind of movie that tries to tell you that it is for you won good. It's not.
Life (2017)
Why, why, why?
It's a complete mystery to me why Hollywood keeps making movies about the discovery of ET organisms with people that act like completely untrained idiots when handling said organism? I don't need to mention Prometheus but, hey, I just did. Prometheus is far better than Life, though.
The best line in "Life" is Ryan Reynolds telling the Ariyoon Bakare to stop treating the Mars bug like a buddy, "Im' your buddy". Yes, very good point. Unfortunately Hugh the Scientist is more interested in caressing it in a sexually loaded manner. It completely kills the suspense.
Like, is Hollywood mandated to make as many movies about evil ETs and ravenous super organisms as possible? What the hell is this? It's like propaganda almost. Can anyone ever make something like Close Encounters of the Third Kind again (not counting Paul)? Also, did we really need a moody, deer eyed Jake Gylllenhall's character to remind us how much our leaders are messing up our planet and that's why he really likes "ISIS"? And why does his character seemingly blame all of humanity for it? Who wrote this, Dick Cheney? Great cinematography though. Really quite epic camera-work.
What a shame.
