Mad Heidi (2022)
Amazingly fun movie
Sometimes we come across a movie which was so amazing that we yearn for more, this is that movie. The acting was awesome, story was simple, but good. Most of all, this is one of the fun-action-slasher movie that are interesting to watch, reminds me of Evil Dead series of movies.
Not sure why some some grumblers are rating it low, those are boring people and don't know that movies are there for fun, not to get nobel peace prize!
I'd suggest all people to watch it, this is a rare Swiss movie which is actually fun coming from there. BTW, English might be a bit hard to understand, but that adds to the story and character.
Mrs. Davis (2023)
Outstanding
Mrs. Davis is one of the stories that fit into many genre, and the libraries will have very hard time categorizing it.... is it a science fiction because the fight is against an AI? Is it a religious story where Nun is leading the battle and religious people are shown as the final winner? Is it a fantasy? Psychological drama? Romance? Comedy....this show got all of these blended together, and very well written.
Betty was my favorite action star, she didn't act many movies or shows, but when she does, her ability to turn violent without minimal facial expression is awesome.
Anyway, it was a great show to watch, will be looking forward to more of the likes, from Peacock.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
Okay movie, but too much fluff
Movie was ok, 2 hour long, very painful where it could have cut some fluffs.
Also, not sure, why they had to add some cringing moments, for example, saying 'every goddamn word of it' of a book, has nothing to do with the story; or when Cassie ran to her father, in comical way, more like a Bollywood movie.
Story is a bit weak, idea is neat, animation is good, but story is very weak; Kang bragging about kiling Avengers, but don't remember Kang in any other moives yet.
Sad that Modok could have been a good spin-off. He is a very funny character, almost like the stop-motion animation on Disney+, but very interesting for sure.
The Gray Man (2022)
Finallty a movie worth watching on one sitting
One the best movies in 2022, compared to the craps we get from Disney or others, this is the best one, even better than the boring James Bond movies, also suffering from Woke culture there.
The action filled movie has action from the beginning to the end, chitter/chatter to the minimum, and the actor/actress, though they played a bit different than common roles, are awesome!
Ryan G: As expectec, awesome actor, didn't disappoint for sure, his ability to have the poker face was great.
Chris Evans: Oh my God! He's 100x better in this movie as the villain than his role as Captain America, he's the new standard for villains, move away Jim Carey!
Ana DA: Who'd think that, commonly act as a romantic/soft roles, Ana will be awesome as the action hero! She's the new Black Widow, extremely good performance.
Jessica H: I was hoping to see her fight, but nope, she's in a new role of a manipulating bureaucrat....interesting, but her role was too small to talk about.
Set and sceneries were great, not the cliche Europe ones, but really good ones, made me look for the shooting locations for sure!
Overall, can't wait for the next in series, there are lots of open questions not answered in this movie alone.
The Batman (2022)
Too slow, just imagine 80 year old grandpa moving ....
Modern day Batman was suposed to have all those interesting gadgets, fast action and strong acting. This movie only has strong acting, other than that, not a good movie, and here's why:
1. 3 hour long, with lots of fluffs and unrelated stuff; longer than Bollywood movies, but minus the song and dance
2. Slow, very very slow, moving.... Batman has arthritis or some other problem, he walks and moves too slowly
3. Overly dramatic of Pattison's face, just dramatic images, no actions
4. Fighting scenes were really bad, Pattison is too slow
Overall, poor movie for Batman.
Peacemaker (2022)
One of the best in DC worlds
Initially, I was a bit skeptical, because the storry could have been a series of tired and boring repeatations; however, this is one of the best I've seen from DC, it's funny, story is nice, and ending is fun. All the characters seemed more towards normal human being than the other movies/series, and more fun to watch, no duplications, no repeatations, and each character is unique. I hope to see Season 2 soon!
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
First five boring episodes
Me and my daughter are big Star Wars fan, we watched all the movies and series. When it was announced that Boba Fett will come, we were excited. But, after 3 episodes, we kind of gave up, the story is too boring, too slow, not enough action. It was not clear what he's trying to say or do, pure waste of Fennec Shand character, she's supposed to be a badass assasin, all she does here just talks!
However, in the latest episode, Mandalorian came again, and then it started to become more interesting, at least his story is full of actions and interesting twist! No wonder this series got only 7 stars, without Mandalorian, it'd get just 2 or 3!
Brazen (2022)
Simple story, didn't worth the 1.5 hrs of our lives
Alyssa Milano is one of my favorite actress, and we all know the hardship she had to go through with the bad people, and also started the whole MeToo movement.
But this movie, where she is actually a crusader for women rights, is a bad one. The story is bad, and so simple that didn't even bother to add some complexity. No complex twist, no complex emotion, simple rich teen gone wrong problem.
Except the acting, the whole movie will leave u feeling nothing.
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
Waste of our time and their money
Birds of Prey available in Netflix now, being a fan of Harley Quinn, especially the animated version, I pushed myself hard to watch it. Unfortunately, this is a garbage movie, and it ended up giving me nausea and headache. Here:
a. No story, story has nothing to do with her, but she's a part of it; nothing to do with Joker at all.
B. Over acting, she tried too hard, sometimes, too much effects and too much makeup make it worse.
C. End is rushed
d. Fighting scenes are too slow
e. Some dialogs are bad
f. Villain is so strong, but doesn't have an army of goons
g.....
Anyway, good one to get headache and use it as an excuse to do anything else at home!
Invasion (2021)
Apple needs to stop making emotional shows, let W channel do it
I was very excited about this show, hoping that, with Apple's money and desire to be successful in the hot streaming market, we will get a good sci-fi. After watching 2 episodes, I'm super disappointed. It's full of emotional/family drama, lots of talking, and nearly no direct invasion.
Just think, if an alien wants to invade earth, they do it so slow that bore people to death anyway! Whole Desert Storm war was over in a few days, even with earth technology!
Anyway, still giving 5 stars, because the cinematic and acting were good at least. It is a good show to play in the background while doing other stuff, it's so slow that you won't miss by not paying attention to it.
Vacation Friends (2021)
A movie without any new story
Very old storyline, bad friend turning into actually good friend; bad acting (except John Cena and a few others), bad story, predictable ending....nothing much is good about it. Because it's a Disney movie, so it won't be extremely bad, just have to grind through the ending.
Sweet Girl (2021)
Amazing movie without any boring pieces
Sometimes, it is mind boggling that some users would give a crappy movie higher star ratings than a really good one. This movie is amazing. There aren't many actors, but if we consider some aspects of the movie, we'll know why it's a good movie:
a. Acting: everyone acted amazingly, even the little girl. We know she was Dora and always thought she'd act in similar role, but she did really well, especially at the last few scenes. Mamoa is good actor anyway, everyone of them were carefully chosen and did a great job.
B. Cinematics: Yes, it's an action movie, considering that the cinematics was great, I didn't see any lack of effort there.
C. Story: it is ok to have a simple story, as long as the whole movies enjoyable. If someone wants a good story, go for Green Mile or Phantom of Opera, stop looking for Shakespeare in action movies.
That's all, if someone wants to see a crappy movie, wait for Cinderalla from Prime, it's the worst Woke movie, next to Green Knight (where an Indian was a knight in white mideaval society!).
Cosmic Sin (2021)
Belongs to C-Rated Movies
In our world of science fiction, we have Marvel and Star Wars type, A rated movies; and, we have Cosmic Sin, C rated movies. The movie is so badly developed, I felt sad for Bruce Willis for agreeing to be part of it. He's a nice guy, made enough millions, he needs to stop doing these low quality movies, otherwise people will remember him as the guy who did a garbage movie!
From story, to cinematic, to ending, everything is out of sync and out of connection. Save your time, watch something better.
Good on Paper (2021)
For the fans of Iliza, you won't get disappointed
I'm a fan of Iliza, watched almost all of her Netflix shows. In this movie, I was expecting her to act like herself, and she did a good job for sure.
The movie was well filmed, all the actor and actress were good, acting didn't feel like sloppy. The story line is simple, but easy to follow, no boring piece in between.
Overall, one of the few movies I've finished watching at one shot, just good for enjoyment.
The Upshaws (2021)
Amazing sitcom, perfect acting
In the world of Woke and PC TVs and movies, it's refreshing to see a sitcom which is natural in all possible way. The acting is amazing, natural and full of energy. The dialogs are all so funny, even though might not be super good for kids like Family Reunion, but it's fresh and new, that's why it's so fun. I wish they have 2nd season very soon!
Mortal Kombat (2021)
Nice Action Film
In recent days, when Hollywood can only think of getting in the good eyes of their overlord in the East, it is a breath of fresh air to see movies as they are supposed to be made - fun without any stupid addition to make the boss happy.
The movie is fun to watch, the fighting sequences are really nice. It's a mix of martial art/kung fu and kick-boxing, basically, whatever works, and that's why the movies is more practical and realistic. The animated monsters are ok, look well done.
Also, another good thing about the movie, when a head is crushed, it's literally crushed and not like Marvel movies, saving the feelings of the little ones and not a drop of blood anywhere. So, if you cannot take good amount of gore, better stick with Disney stuff rather than watching this :)
Secret Society of Second-Born Royals (2020)
Interesting situation as the movie meets the need of kids
The movie is heavily flawed in every aspect, but my daughter enjoyed the movie very well. The story was good, acting was very good for the kids of the ages, and the color/cinematic/set all look amazing. And, it's a very simple story, not to watch and think, just watch and eat popcorns.
So, what's the flaw with this movie? Political Correctness gone overboard
The main actress is a half-Asian, the queen is an Asian, the queen of a country in Europe, which is mostly white for thousands of years. How an Asian can become a queen of a country in a continent that is mostly White? Also, if you have ever been to Europe and you're not a White, you'd know that their culture would never allow anyone from Asia to rule them. Especially now, when hundreds of thousands died from the virus coming from there. I understand that Disney wanted to attract Asian market, but to get there, it ignored the culture and history.
Outside the Wire (2021)
Very nice movie, weak story
The movie started well, the cinematics amazing, new sci-fi ideas are great. But, the end of the movie got wasted by idealistic writers' crazy dreams.
10 Stars for amazing cinematics, really good visual. The movie did amazing job in acting, every actor/actress acted amazingly, not a single bad movement (think about Wonder Woman 1984, where the acting was so bad that lost our trust in the movies!). The GUMP vs GUMP fight was so good that I had to watch that part 3 times already.
4 Stars for bad story, the beginning was good, they were on a good mission, but robot turning bad and against humanity is a very old theme (and already too commonplace by Terminator's endless remakes). Even the character of Sofiya, who you all know and love from Into the Badlands, got ruined by bad writing. Unfortunately, bad story is the only reason this movie will get bad rating. Another blockbluster failure of Netflix, not sure when they'll learn the value of good writing (remember Extraction? good acting but bad writing)
Greyhound (2020)
Masterpiece of Movie
While recently we're flooded with WW2 movies, some are good, some are meh, this is a movie everyone must see.
Dialogue: Every dialogue is measured, there is no wasting of words, and every spoken word has a meaning. This movie is well scripted, actually, it is so well scripted that I had to go back and listen to what they were talking about.
Cinematic: Amazing! We all know that CGI is used, but it didn't feel like it. The light, the shadow, the focus, the waves, the sea, all are amazing.
Acting: It is great to see Tom Hank in this role, he's a great actor and rightly chosen for the role. Anyway, all other actors were great. The whole movie didn't have too many actors, but they all played well. However, one thing bothered me was the black butlers. Out of all the people, Apple still had to get two black actors and both were butlers. I think that is not so fair to Black folks, but I understand that Apple has its own masters in the East to please.
Anyway, the movie is great, it was only 1hrs 30 mins, and because of that, it didn't waste any scenes with fluffy fillers, idle talks or so.
The Meg (2018)
Saved by Jason and Bing Bing
When a movie is produced by China, everyone knows that certain expectations need to be lowered, for example, the movie will not show corruption of authority, but will show corruption of capitalism; the movie will not have blood too much, it will have the good side of the country. When these expectations are cleared away, then the movie becomes much more enjoyable.
Story: The story is simple, but very convoluted. There is no relation to the initial incident and the mega shark later. The story lines are full of stereotypes. For example, the movie has only one black actor, and the role talks a lot and also scared by everything easy, and the role is also someone more suitable to serve rather than lead (think about butler and not Shaft!). This is in alignment with the general opinion of that country.
Cinematic: Nice! Movie is well filmed, actions are all well choreographed, and sequences are well defined. Color is amazing! Every aspect of the cinematic is well done.
Actors: That's the only good thing about this movie, except the cinematic, Jason & Bing Bing saved the movie. Jason showed is common acting, as a man of action. While, Bing Bing's acting was very measured and well done, she's avoided common things that many actress in that do to please the men. Of course, she could not have sex in that movie, the country folks wouldn't like it, but they hinted it. Anyway, I'm a big fan of these two actors and they didn't disappoint.
In conclusion, good action movie, but watch it with a filter glass so that you can ignore all the nuisances that come with a movie from there.
Artemis Fowl (2020)
Nice Cinematics, weak story, and tone deaf movie
Artemis Fowl is a standard Disney movie, the cinematic, the music, the costume, most of the actors, all were superb. From the beginning to end, the movie goes smooth and it kind of managed to end the story.
However, not sure whatever the reason, the story really sucked. After watching for more than an hour or so, I kind of felt that the whole movie didn't have any good story. The whole story could be told in two to three lines. Also, the movie had lots of 'filler' actions, actions were added to make the movie longer, instead of contributing to the story. There were many unanswered questions, many contradictory statements.
Now, the main actor, he was a young boy, he tried his best. But, he was overdramatic, it was clear that sometimes he was walking or behaving too dramatic for the sake of the camera. At the end, even if he was a genius, he made a rookie mistake! Of course, you need to watch the movie, regardless how bad it is, to find that mistake!
At the end, while Black Lives Matter and the protest against anti-Black racism and stereotype are going on, this movie made it clear that Disney actually supported slavery and black stereotype (in England, in modern days, only Servant in the movie was Black). Except giving the guy blue eyes, also another tone-deaf approach to show that blue eyes are better than original black eyes of the Black folks, his only role in the movie was to serve, and listen to a white kid with questionable judgement. The master of the house was multi-generational rich and white person, and most probably a big supporter of slavery. Just like Mulan, a movie to please the Commies, Disney released another tone-deaf movie exactly proving the point that systematic racism exists in mainstream media.
Hunters (2020)
Brilliant acting, biased story
The show is brilliant. If you consider the acting, the scene, the color, the dialog, the story set, all are brilliant. I like their words, and how they have managed to make this great series.
However, the story is highly biased. It showed only one side of the world, where the Jews are the good guys. For them, killing for revenge is acceptable; killing for religion is acceptable, as long as they can justify it.
But, at the same time, Israel is occupying Palestine and huting/killing them for no reason other than they were trying to regain their land. In that case, the Palestines are terrorists. Same thought process would only make the Jihadist believe that they are right as well as long as they can justify the killing of people in the name of religion.
That's the dilemma, showwise, this is great! Storywise, too hypocrite to support.
Ji qi zhi xue (2017)
Jackie Chan lost his mojo
Right after Foreigner, this is the 2nd movie I've watched, since I was a big fan of Jackie Chan since I was 10 years old. But, in these days, his movies have a message and I don't appreciate it. If you watch this movie and Foreigner, and if you pay attention, you could see that all the bad people are non-Asians; and only Asians are helping out Asians. In recent movies, Also, the movie is kind of slow, even though filmed in Australia, the story was weak and the actions were like filmed in Hong Kong, close combat only.
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
Desperate attempt to make the Chinese look good
Just as expected of any Disney film, to make money in China, it has added bunch of scenes by the Asian actors unnecessarily, showing them as heroic, clear headed and rationale compared to other actors. For example, the first bomber scene, she was Asian; then her sister is there; then in the casino, nice looking ladies are Asian.
As expected, Disney is ruining the movie again.
