A Gamer's Journey: The Definitive History of Shenmue (2023)
Enjoyable even for the Shenmue fan who feels like they know it all
The Shenmue games were revolutionary for the time and were so fascinating and touching to gamers everywhere that it's hard to not want to know more about their history. All Shenmue fans knows what it's like to Google this game for decades. Mostly just wondering when the third game was going to come out.
During that time, many fans have seen every promotional video, every interview with Yu Suzuki, every behind the scenes video, and since Shenmue 3's announcement, interest in researching has only skyrocketed.
I went into this film expecting to learn nothing new but I was wrong. In fact, this is a film that gives the most intimate look into not only the facts but the hearts of those in development of these games. This is truly their story as much as it's the story of the fans. This film is a must own for a true Shenmue fan.
Little Lunch (2015)
Any good review obviously written by family members.
This show is a miracle. Not a single charismatic actor on screen, not a single interesting thing talked about, the worst acting of all time....is this an intentionally bad show to troll us or something?
I did not know a Tv show could be this bad. This is just bad. Really bad. I'm without words.
Greaser's Palace (1972)
The old man with the Last Supper painting (hidden message)
The most bizarre part of the film is where the little old toothless man with the painting starts saying some gibberish over and over again (hoshi-jeb, hoshi-jeb, hoshi-jeb) So I plugged it into a sound recorder and played it backwards. And ya know what I find?? I believe he's speaking backwards, and what it distinctly sounds like he's saying is, "Veggie Soup". Hmmmmmm.....??
IMDb won't let me post this without at least 10 lines of text so I'm now typing a bunch of stuff just so they'll let me post this and it's pretty lame that they have to do this to me because all i wanted to do was make a comment, I didn't feel like writing an essay, but it's what they're forcing me to do and now I'm done.
Mortal Kombat (1995)
I have to agree...
I have to agree with most of the reviews out there. The spirit, appeal, and attitude of the game itself is it's intense violent content. To make a pg-13 version of a game like this means it's going to definitely be toned down.
But if violence was the number reason the game was a hit, the same logic should be applied to the movie version. Because the storyline of Mortal Kombat sure doesn't deliver the goods.
But it's when the characters do their moves that you at least have some dazzling special effects to smile at. And the movie's soundtrack certainly is memorable and makes for one of the most rockin' movie soundtracks I was ever prouder to own.
More blood and deeper story could have made this one a real winner for me. :( But average at best.
Almost Live! (1984)
I loved this SHOW!!!
I remember being a small kid and seeing all of Billy Quan's antics, and I was in San Mateo, California. So this show obviously was going strong there. It was part of the great series of shows we would watch on FOX. Including Get A Life with Chris Elliott, and the Simpsons. For years I thought Billy Quan was on the cult show Night Flight, airing on TV in the same year, but I guess I was confused. ALMOST LIVE ROCKED!! I remember it now!! I remember my sister and me used to imitate the Billy Quan routines in our own tape recording with sound effects and imitating the dubbed voices. OH THE MEMORIES!!
I have got to get this series on DVD!
Ator 2: L'invincibile Orion (1983)
Best of the worst!!
This film must have been quietly released on some other side of the world, perhaps even in English. Hopefully nobody understood a word, not there's anything to understand in this movie anyways! Haahaa! Call me a nut, but I think this is one of the best movies ever. Why would I come to that conclusion?? Because it's my national pasttime to sabotage horrible films and this one begs for it every other minute! Once I became a fan of Myster Science Theater 3000, I had no doubt in my mind they'd find it somewhere and use it. Sure enough! The version they acquired was entitled "Cave Dwellers" using some strange intro footage not even from the film itself (apparently, they were ashamed to use footage from their OWN film!). I can't say I recommend buying this film. Rather, I highly recommend getting the MST3K version. Sure to find it most anywhere MST3K DVD's are sold, don't miss out!
