Still Game: Over the Hill (2019)
How do you not love these characters?
As an American, I put this show up there with the best television shows ever (premium cable shows excluded). I was a huge fan of Fawlty Towers and Derry Girls and heard that this Scottish comedy would be right up my alley. And I'm so glad I started watching on Netflix. I fell in love with all the characters, especially Isa, and felt the tears rolling down my face at the end. Of course I had the CC on for the whole series, and I've even adopted some of the colorful phrases and words into my everyday speech (i.e. Manky). I wish Craiglang was a real place; I'd definitely spend some time there. But I do know that whenever I need a Clansman fix I know where to go.
The Undeclared War (2022)
More Woke Drivel...
...that takes away any legitimacy and therefore the effectiveness of the drama or the issue it purports to expose. The acting is decent, but too many scenes where eye-rolls are hard to avoid. Takes the audience completely out of story.
The Meg (2018)
Awful on every level
Terrible acting, terrible script, terrible casting (could it be any more woke?), terrible cheesiness. The 3 stars are for Statham, who had a promising, serious career before becoming the champion of silly action flicks.
Kumonosu-jô (1957)
Good, almost great
Very clever twists and inventions in this stripped-down version of the original, especially the nod to Hamlet in the banquet scene.
The actress playing the Lady Macbeth role is superbly icy and persuasive, the best I've seen. The interspersing of scenes inspired by the Grecian Chorus and some very eerie images all make this an admirable production.
However, without the majesty of WS's language, it's missing that extra punch.
Lovecraft Country (2020)
Cultural Appropriation ...
... apparently only works one way in this production that alters Lovecraft's original vision.
The Letter for the King (2020)
More Hollywood Propaganda Disguised as Entertainment
Hahahahahaha! A medieval setting where women and girls have power and kick ass!? Tee hee!
What, a medieval story that features ancient European cities with diverse populations?! Lmfao!
Should someone be calling the Cultural Appropriation Police?
A Dangerous Son (2018)
Just a Question
Anybody notice if there were any fathers in these kids' lives?
A Primeira Tentação de Cristo (2019)
No Guts
Wow, super edgy! Going after Christians is about as safe as claiming war on cancer. Wouldn't dare go after Islam, would ya, Cowards? No guts for the sake of your "art."
