Horrortales.666 Part 3 (2022)
Strong and entertaining anthology
Phil Herman's HorrorTales 666. Part 3 deliver the goods with a recipe of great storytelling, blood, nudity, strong score, excellent camerawork and solid acting. Phil Herman and Joel Wynkoop are a force to be reckoned with as they deliver great, fun, and entertaining content quickly. What is great about this anthology is that each story is so different from each other and the variety adds to the fun experience. HorrorTales brings back Joel Wynkoop and his wife Cathy Wynkoop. They have great chemistry as we see his character take a downward spiral into madness. Also, I love Phil Herman's psychotic performance and delivers. If you enjoy this please check out HorrorTales 666. Part 2.
Ringo Rocket Star and His Song for Yuri Gagarin (2017)
Hilarious film with great music!!
My wife and I run the Reel Comedy Fest film festival in Illinois. We just had our festival and this film played as one of the official selections at our event and we absolutely loved this film as well as our judges. This film won for best score at our festival and it definitely adds to the comedic element of this film. Hilarious film with great performances especially from the lead actor who reminded me a lot of the character Borat. I'm looking forward to seeing more content from these filmmakers. Please check out this hilarious, quirky and well made film. The music was perfect. We need more films like this!!
Lines (2009)
Your in for the ride of your life
"Lines" being Eric Mattson's second effort as a director brings forth in his film-making ride two strong characters. His writing allows the viewer to be anticipating each of there next moves every second on frame. Mattson is able to get the viewer in the backseat with this piece with his sharp camera work and tight screenplay.Mattson shows his strength as a film-making by grabbing his audience without gore, profanity, and nudity. His fresh take on storytelling is what most film need to get back too. Simple editing allows the flow of the film to seem seamless. Great original music helps open up the film and close the film. The cast of two work excellent off each other and don't give too much away killing the premise of what the movie is about. Check out Garett in a small part in Mattson's current project, "Murder for Pleasure". Check out "Lines" it's a ride we all have been waiting for.
Gratitude (2003)
A film that makes you thankful for what you have...
"Gratitude" is a simple film that packs a punch. Director, Eric Mattson shows his passion for the underdog with his subtle pacing and a directing style that shows his strength for bringing out his performances from his actors. His superb use of locations fits the story and characters perfectly. The editing for "Gratitude" was on mark and moved along at a nice leisure pace allowing the viewer to take every scene in comfortably. Great cinematography and the shot composition really paints a picture for our lead character. I give "Gratitude" an A+ in my book! I am looking forward to seeing Eric's upcoming feature film.. Look for more of Eric Mattson's work in the near future.
American Storytellers (2003)
Excellent film about the process of getting the indie film to the public.
One of the best films about the independent film industry. Director Kevin Mukherji shows his love for the industry. His respect is shown for the indie crew by interviewing four integral and inspirational filmmakers in the independent field. These directors are John Sayles, John McNaughton, Forest Whitaker, and Harold Ramis who give us insight about how a film comes to life from story concept to marketing the completed product. Mukherji definitely shows his craft and has a refreshing way of interviewing the directors as a silent host for the entirety of the film with only glimpses of Kevin seen throughout "Storytellers". Check out his other film "Death and Taxis" a must see.
