Hunter Killer (2018)

Exciting and enjoyable movie

The story is interesting and original; and deserving of at least an Oscar nomination; all the performances were excellent; the one actor whose name I recognized when I just now read about the movie on IMDB I did not recognize in the film so completely did he become teh character

Wonderful show; all the actors, from the youngest to the eldest are superb and the various plot lines and characters are interesting and engaging

The story and what it showed of the period of Charles II of England relating to the laws that governed the theater and of his affair with Nell Gwynn, a famous actress and his mistress, was informative and fun to see; also it was fun to see the role Pepys played in having women play female characters on stage; the actors' performances were uniformly excellent.

Excellent miniseries

The performances are superb! the makeup and costumes and settings are also excellent and add to the feeling we are watching a period of history; the only problem, for American and perhaps other non-Russian speakers is that the subheads are white on white and too small and pass too quickly; we had to keep going back to see what we had missed; we theorize that perhaps this why the general rating was only 6.9

I should have read the viewer reviews more carefully; my husband loves westerns so we decided to give it a try; at first we thought it was supposed to b e a parody and that the reviewers "didn't get it" but no. they are all right; bad acting, stpid story -- nothing good

This Is the Army (1943)

enjoyable show to watch

We remember seeing the original This Is the army many years ago; this was fun to watch both because of the music and dancing and because it captured the patriotic fervor of the time; also there were parts I didn't remember seeing before, e.g. the Stage Door Canteen and Irving Berlin singing ..Hate to Get Up ..though my husband did ( I'm dating myself :-) canteen song the other reviewers described it perfectly and I really don't have anything to add to their comments; except that it was interesting to learn what that reviewer wrote about Yip Yip Yank about which show I knew nothing; I must see if there is a trivia section here; the singers are superb! are they talented servicemen ( the crdits give military rank in front of their names) or Broadway performers who joined or weredrafted into t army?

In this film, and "Into Thin Air", also from a book by the explorer and author John Krakauer, 2 different men, one very young, want to have an unforgettable experience; unfortunately, their hubris caused them to ignore the advice of those more experienced than they and so they did not take proper precautions; both the films and the books are interesting to watch and/or read;

Taking Chance (2009 TV Movie)

A wonderful moving story

Based on a trued story this is a wonderful, moving story that will being tears to your eyes; It's good to know that the bodies of men killed in battle are treated so respectfully; not only is the procedure of taking Chance's body to his hometown for burial, and the military escort moving but the reactions of all people encountered en route were wonderful to see; it's a docudrama, not a documentary , and the the actors to a wonderful job

The Key to Rebecca (1985 TV Movie)

suspenseful, interesting plot

Ioved this when I saw it many years ago and have been trying to find it somewhere since so my husband could see it; I did get the book from the library for him to read but I seem to remember the movie was well-done; the book Rebecca by think Daphne DuMaurier) is used to pass coded information to the Allies (I don't remember) in an attempt to foil a Nazi attempt to capture the city of cairo; another reviewer hit the spot with his comment that it's suspenseful and exciting; the not-explicit sex scene is an atempt to find teh coded message before it eaches teh allies

The Great Fire (2014)

Interesting but more drama than docu;

I really liked it but it seems unfinished; I had to ask my husband if it was over or there was another part? when it ended they were looking for the the mother and her son in a field or someplace; and we had to do research to find out if there really was a conspiracy to replace Charles (II?) with James.

Jerico (2016)

no story; didn't get to watch

We never got to the story of the boys and their adventures; the beginning was long and about the unjust treatment of Blacks in the South and doubt as to whether anything would change with the passage of the Civil Rights Bill in1960; it was a history lesson and one with which we are familiar

The Good Doctor (2017–2024)

a wonderful series;hope it's not yet over

The performances are wonderful and the plots, i.e., the medical cases as well as the problems and some prejudices among the staff are excellent ; in addition to enjoying it I learned a lot.

Devil's Bridge (2010)

After reading the plot I immediately recognized it; those who wrote the reviews apparently never saw The Most Dangerous Game or Deliverance, both excellent and unforgettable films; although Deliverance takes place in the back country of southern U.S. and is about a canoe trip; most dangerous game is very clever adn I hink the plot has been used Based on those 2 films I recommend The Bridge

The MacKintosh Man (1973)

wonderful old movie which wears well

Good plot.

excellent performances by the actors ( except for the female lead. Shot on location in Ireland , England and Malta. The scenery is lovely. The music is perfectly fitting and adds to the enjoyment of the film. It's exciting. It's based on a novel by a writer of whom I've never heard.

The Collection (2016)

excellent, engrossing series

Apparently I neglected to indicate in the review I just wrote that it contained a spoiler; I don't know what that spoiler would be unless it's that Season one ended with some matters unresolved; this is a wonderful show with excellent acting, excellent plot, fascinating family dynamics, beautiful dresses, references to historical events. One really cares about the characters. Other reviewers expressed my thoughts exactly and I agree with them that this wonderful series needs a second season
