Csillagosok, katonák (1967)
Russian Civil War brutality bared open
This film definitely not for children. A must see for Russian Civil War buffs. Tends to wander a little bit from one battle scene to another quite haphazardly....but manages to bring home the point: nobody was safe on either side of this conflict....including civilians. Death and retribution is dealt out liberally from both sides be they the Imperial Whites or the Red Guards. For military minded people only...civilians can not comprehend the political/military depth of this movie.
Ostrzhe sledované vlaky (1966)
Coming-of-age in the midst of war
If you love train depot life.... World War Two military history....and romantic sub-plots this movie is a must see~ Exquisite handling of the coming-of-age issue between two young teenagers caught up in the intrigues of war.
Kontroll (2003)
Budapest thriller !!!
This movie has everything: action...romance....horror....suspense....comedy. All shot entirely within the Budapest underground subway system. The lead character deserves an oscar...or whatever award they give in Europe for superior/ riveting performances. Never a dull moment from start to finish.
