Ghosts (2021– )
10/10
10!!!!!
16 November 2021
I haven't liked or been entertained by a sitcom in what feels like a very long while w/the last one being - THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT (ABC). It got canceled in short time so I'm trying to stay positive about GHOSTS lasting at least a full season. Crack casting all around and the writing/dialogue is great. I think what'll keep it fresh are the one off visits by "guest" ghosts as well as all the backstories. Can't WAIT for Alberta's!

The Kids Are Alright (2018–2019)

I'm scared to love this show......

Because I'm the jinx that gets the great ones axed. Seriously. The first time I saw TKAAR I almost weeped because from soup to nuts I adored everything about it and the kicker was the "repeat watch and loved it even more" but alas, that little voice in my head said "don't get comfortable so enjoy it while I can." I'm not a negative ninny, I just seem to kill great shows and THIS is a great show IMHO. I love every character, the casting is perfection, the writing is on point. The only problem is the fake Jesus hair on the eldest son. Between this and Spike Lee's "CROOKLYN", I'm back in growing up in the 70's heaven.

The Conners (2018–2025)

Glad I gave it a view........Two Thumps Up!
17 October 2018
It's amazing how many chose to go low with their review without ever watching the show or, DID watch it but went into it with plans to be negative no matter what. In my opinion, the premiere episode was VERY good and I wasn't expecting it to be but I chose to give it an honest shot with my only real disappointment coming with the fact Roseanne Barr made the choices she did. I WILL be a regular viewer and I'm proud of the cast AND crew for trusting in their belief that there was still a story to tell and they were up to the challenge.

Please don't waste the potential
2 October 2018
It starts and ends with lazy stereotyping and I'm disappointed because they're squandering the opportunity to provide a fun show. I'm stunned at the dumb writing! Why?! It's almost like a parody of a parody and I don't understand how they couldn't see this before it was given the go ahead. Please take this back to the drawing board and paint a new picture.

Extant (2014–2015)
10/10
Excited again!
10 July 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I rarely review and even more rarely do I watch hour network drama's but I decided to check out EXTANT and I was rewarded with a quality show on every level. With some shows of this nature (sci-fi, futuristic) there are sometimes so many twists, turns, technical overload that attempting to track them all becomes the downfall for me and I lose interest. Had no problem there. EXTANT was smart and focused on creating a show that just like the character's son, is a smart combination of man-made materials and human emotions. The storyline dots were easy to connect without losing momentum or getting bogged down. It layered the intrigue just right. It stacked the mysteries just perfect. I didn't miss anything or feel the need to watch again for clarity but, I will view again just because I thought it was great. Halle was awesome. the right everything. The casting is great. I found nothing preventing it from giving it a 10. I like being excited about show again on network TV. Thank you Steven Spielberg!

Buried (2010)
4/10
I can't remember when i felt less sympathy, empathy or compassion for a character

Warning: Spoilers
Seriously. I think the blame for my seriously negative op lies squarely with Ryan Reynolds. I never felt the "I'm just a working stiff trying to make life better for my family." He failed to make the dumb as $hit erratic mistakes feel as if they were emanating from a man who is buried in a coffin underground. He might as well have been locked in a john in the basement at work! He was emotionally deficent when speaking to his mom. He acted as if he had forgotten the woman had Alzheimer's. Yeah, it could have been played that way but it wasn't. I think this could have really been much more with someone with more range. I don't think Ryan Reynolds is a bad actor at all. I simply didn't like him in this. I just wanted it to be over. The end was worthy.

I really need to see this one again
12 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Just watched this for the first time. The description didn't do the movie justice. It advertised as a thriller, and yes, I thought it was going to take that turn more than a few times. First time was when Maggie's thug of a son showed up. The second was right after she was "befriended" at the welfare by the woman sitting next to her. The third and final time was when her waste of a husband Archie got his feet back in her door. I didn't get Margaret or her story until the end of the movie. The finale explained the beginning. We see her back at the dole office in need of money. We see her back at the free reading room warming her foot on the heater pipe. We see her back at the church service singing hymns. The last scene finds her making her tea and reading her paper. When did she start to collect papers and reading materials to "study?" Was it during her marriage or after? Remember how Archie got so upset when he came home after a day of "looking for a job" (placing bets at the sporting office) and there was no paper from the morning for him to "study?" She returned from hospital to find her flat spic-n-span and then Archie comes home; a new start? I think she felt it was. Notice how she kept up the house; found order. It wasn't about happiness or love or even companionship. He hurt her and that wasn't forgotten, but it could be lived with. It was about his physical presence. This was about some lifting of the loneliness, and the lesser need for fantasy. The idea that there would be someone within the walls filled the space the voices used to take up. I wish my thoughts were more clear and I was better at explaining, but I really want to see this movie again, or should I say, I want to watch the character of Margeret again. This is a character that's going to be hard to forget.

Local Flavor with Joan Cusack: France (2006)
Season 1, Episode 6
10/10
Good job Joan!
9 November 2006
I adore the show and I'm so happy I found it. I've always liked Joan, and began watching because "Ialso like food." What a nice and entertaining surprise I've found. The show has a feeling about it it that speaks to those of us who are foodies, but not snobby about it. It's never pedantic, chi chi or so sterile I'm feeling as if I'm going to be graded at the end! Its fun, spontaneous, and real. I feel like I could visit every place he has and not be intimidated by the food or the people. I'm really looking forward to her traveling to hopefully Asia, Australia, Africa.....all the A's. I also think it would be a blast for her to hit the US, and some of the cuisine that really hasn't been explored like the Amish "can you see Joan with the Amish?!" Good job Joan.
