Atlas (2024)
Maybe I was expecting an action film
It's more about why the main character doesn't trust AI; can she overcome that mistrust in order to save the world?
Meanwhile she does a lot of yelling and crying - I found it annoying but obviously a lot of reviewers didn't.
I liked JLo in the movie Parker so I'm not biased against her acting.
They didn't spend any time developing other characters - a lot of alone time for Jennifer - other characters were cookie cutter.
I had to mute and skip pockets of film and then fast forwarded through the last 15 minutes.
(Spoiler) Note to self: don't build a self aware robot and give it the means to reprogram itself if it gets one password then give that password to a child.
Captain Nova (2021)
Maaaybe young children would watch it
Lazy writing or couldn't afford to develop scenes because apparently in Netherlands you can detain 12 year olds for over 48 hours by themselves and interrogate them with no lawyer or parents.
Also S. W. A. T team can shoot and wound a 12 year old and nobody freaks out and in fact stand around and carry on a conversation while she lays there.
There's more but you can read other reviews about the old people and and also the car.
Zone 414 (2021)
Neo-noir PI tale in dystopian future with 'droids'
Yes it has a Bladerunner vibe but it's got its own tale to tell. Guy Pierce always good actor. Thoroughly enjoyed it. 90 minutes was right length. I thought overall the acting was good.
Another Life (2019)
AFTER FIRST 2 or 3 EPISODES IT'S GREAT!
I, like many others I'm reading, turned it off after 2 episodes of Season 1. BUT since there was a second series I figured it must have something going for it. And does it ever! I began where I had quit and I kept watching and I'm so glad I did.
Give it a chance - you'll be glad you did. Not as good as The Expanse but it's in that class. I say this even though I don't like Katee Sackoff much but she did grow on me.
Vibes (1988)
Can't handle Cyndi Lauper Jersey accent
Heading says it all and Geoff Goldblum hasn't quite found his mojo in 1988.
The Way We Weren't (2019)
Had to see for myself which version of reviews i agreed with
It seems like reviewers either loved it or hated it with no in between. I had been debating whether to watch on Prime which is why I checked out IMDB reviews - to help me decide. The result was I had to watch it to see which side I agreed with.
I liked it. Very low budget but it didn't feel cheap. The characters are all likeable and the acting was good - no-one took it too seriously which kept it light. And it was funny. It had some filler but generally it moved along at a reasonable pace. Did I mention there are some very funny scenes.
I will probably watch it again and soon because it left me with a good feeling.
