Hannibal (2013–2015)
10/10
Outstanding!
20 December 2015
I've just finished watching season 3 with my partner and we can both honestly say this is, without a doubt, one of the finest TV shows ever made. The pace, the story telling, the acting, the cinematography, the style are all stellar! Absolutely superb! I love the relationship between Hannibal and Will Graham (both acted superbly by Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy). I think Mads' performance as Hannibal Lecter is the best version of that character (sorry Anthony!). I Love how it ended but I desperately want to see more. I sincerely hope they get to make more. It appears all involved are on board should the opportunity present itself, so here's hoping a network has the sense to pick this up. I'm a total "fannibal"!

Quite possibly the WORST piece of rubbish the beeb have ever commissioned!
9 December 2008
i am not going to waste much time on this, i only came here to see what score it has over all, after the brilliant, clever and VERY FUNNY show "Pulling" got dropped from having a 3rd series, when utter drivel like 2 pints goes ON and ON and ON! the BBC have lost the plot completely, Pulling has won awards for its brilliance, yet they cancel it during it's prime, and not 1 single second of 2 pints is capable of raising even a mild smirk from me or anyone i know. the "humour" (if you can call it that), is childish, badly written and like it belongs on cbeebies. the acting is stale and contrived as is the dreadful studio audience laughter. i simply cannot believe how bad it really is! BBC, sort you act out before you descend to the bottom of the pile, even under channel 5. URGH! two pints?!?! trash, i'd rather a gin and tonic any day!

Day of the Dead (2008 Video)

what an absolute pile of s***
13 February 2008
Warning: Spoilers
i am one of the most forgiving viewers when it comes to horror, i actually like really bad films. however, when a film tries so hard to be serious, but winds up being one of the most ridiculously awful, messy pieces of garbage ever committed to film, i have to give it 1 star! why?, no WHY? was mena suvari and ring rhames in this? how did that even come about? it defies all belief, just like zombies running up walls and ceilings! the dialogue is a joke. for example (in one scene involving the "friendly zombie" bud.. (anyone who had even seen the original day of the dead (which so happen to be my all time favourite horror film btw!), will know his name was bub! not bud!) anyway...

nick's character: "why is thriller over here not trying to eat us?" pointing at the "friendly zombie" sat next to him in the jeep

mena's character "he's a vegetarian"!!!

OK, that is not even a joke, it's a serious line not played for laughs, as earlier that character told mena he is in fact a vegetarian, and if that was meant as a joke, the direction was SO bad it certainly didn't come across that way. i can honestly say there is not a single redeeming feature with this film, not one. again, not usually my style or place to say, but in this case, i really hope steve minor is never allowed near a film set again. as for the producers. with such turd-shaped gems as creepshow 3, day of the dead 2 and now this piece of garbage under their belts. i hope they come to their senses and realise they should NEVER, EVER attempt to produce a film again. it was like some bad 80s US soap with zombies.. laughable! i'm not gonna waste any more time talking about it. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! seriously!

my all time favourite horror film!
13 February 2008
Warning: Spoilers
i'm only going to write a quick comment about this wonderful film. the main reason is, i just watched the "remake" (calling it a remake is actually wrong, but hey)! and it was so appalling i felt i just HAD to show my love for george a romero's superb original. the mood of this film is so creepy and has one of my favourite opening to any film. tom savini's gore effects are still some of the best i have ever seen and are far better than anything i have seen recently in the cinema. the story is so rich and detailed and utterly compelling. this film contains some of the best dialogue in any horror film. i'd love to see george make the original script he wrote for this (but had to totally change die to budget restraints). as i read that script and it was superb. regardless, this is too good to miss. whatever you do, AVOID the remake at all costs. instead, buy the special edition DVD of this version and enjoy the best zombie movie ever made. bravo george!

Probably one of the funniest shows ever!
17 January 2008
what can i say? i saw the DVD in a sale and purchased it for a mere £5, as i am a big fan of comedy series DVD's. i had never seen the show although i remember it being on TV... the very first episode had me laughing so hard it hurt. the section were he channels lady di was pure tear inducing, side-splitting hilarity, i practically feel off the sofa. i cannot remember the last time something made me laugh as much as this. marc wootton is a legend! he is utterly fearless and brutally shocking as his superb character shirley ghostman. sometimes you cannot help but squirm with embarrassment as shirley pushes the boundaries of taste and decency, this is certainly NOT for the easily offended! if you like your humour on the darker side, then i cannot recommend this enough. it sits nicely alongside the stupendously dark nighty night (julia davis is the female marc wootton, and marc also appears in both series of that!). i ran straight out and purchased cyderdelic (another comedy series staring marc wootton) on DVD as soon as i saw it was available, and again.. it is pure class. anyway, high spirits with shirley ghostman is a must buy!

A Near PERFECT sequel
12 May 2007
Warning: Spoilers
WOW! what can i say? i was SO excited about this film since i heard they were making it. then after seeing the awesome trailer i could hardly wait. finally, i drove an hour to catch the midnight screening last night and i was totally blown away by it. it has everything a good sequel should. the evolution of the story is superb, intense, very scary and totally believable. the fantastic shots (and there's hundreds of them) of a deserted London are incredible well done and extremely creepy/eerie. the idea of a containment zone, the attempt to "reboot" the UK and re-integrate families back to "normality" is wonderful. the sense of dread and doom are superbly handled and when things do start to go wrong. the panic is quite intense. this film has been handled beautifully and i cannot sing its praises enough.

***spoiler***

the evolution of the rage virus is also a fantastic idea that is perfectly handled. and i cannot wait for the third one!!!

One of the funniest shows on TV
20 December 2006
Absolutely hilarious sitcom on BBC3 that revolves around that great British hangup with casual sex. Superbly written, directed and acted this really is laugh out loud comedy! I still haven't seem all of the episodes and I cant wait for the DVD. I only hope that this gets another series (or 2). My favourite character has to be the girl with the big drink problem (her name escapes me at the moment), her drunken antics have had me crying with laughter (damn, i hope I don't behave like that when I'm drunk!!!) LOL This really has to get 10 out of 10 from me, its great that there is so much new comedy coming out. What with the GLORIOUS Nighty Night, and the very pleasant Jam & Jerusalem, there has been so much to watch on TV recently.

A TRIUMPH for George A Romero.
24 September 2005
Warning: Spoilers
**some spoilers**

I've now seen this movie twice, once at London's Frightfest (with George in attendance) and last night on it's UK opening. Both myself and my friend who I watched it with absolutely LOVE this film. George has managed to pull of the impossible and actually come up with the goods after 20 years of anticipation.

I won't go into the story as you all know that by now, but I will comment on George's superb political overtones about America's greedy attitude, it's loud, aggressive foreign policies and the war on terror. With the humans blazing into the now zombie world with fireworks and guns, killing as many zombies as they can to get what they want (some of the bikers fly huge American flags on their bikes to drive it home even more). The zombies are evolving slightly, they are slowly remembering, and like wild animals learning to use tools, the zombies (lead by 'big daddy' who seems to be a little smarter than the rest) head for the fortified city which is one of the humans last 'safe zones'. The city is ruled by an opportunist, Kaufman (Hopper) as he lives in the skyscraper 'Fiddler's Green' for the wealthy and upper-class. Leaving the rest of the survivors to rough it out on the streets. The action really does go at a fast pace, with many memorable scenes. The river of zombies is stunning, and stands as one of the highlights of the movie and makes George's boldest visual references to America and the attacks on 911. Mainly pointing out America's complacent attitude pre-911 and showing that being surrounded by water does not make them immune from attack by people they upset. Even if you don't care for the social satire and George's comments on the state of the world (and in particular, America) today. Then this film still delivers on every level, from gore, to action, to story.. you name it, Land of the Dead is how it should be done! George.... you are a LEGEND!!!!
