Buying London (2024– )

It's my guilty pleasure ...
31 May 2024
Ok, these shows are a guilty pleasure. Selling sunset, buying beverly hills, million dollar listing,...the family in paris, they are cool too. I watch it because I like seeing the homes, but the drama .... A bit much. Don't expect high-level sales or lessons, because it's not like that. It seems they can't do much - and expensive clothes don't guarantee good taste. But this show really takes the cake. It's a bunch of annoying and empty people arguing about listings, drama,... but what really makes it unwatchable is the soundtrack. It is horrendous. Who comes up with those ideas? And who approves that? Jeez. It makes a cringe show even more cringe.

Finally something original ... and I like it ...
19 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
... but the music is just horrible. That stock music pop sound is so cliché. However, the show is very enjoyable. And ... compared to other shows, this team can actually sell. Unlike shows like Selling Sunset. They're not "flashy" over the top personalities or dramatic for the sake of being dramatic and "cool." The family comes across as very genuine and I'm almost jealous of the bond they have. The pace is good and we don't linger too long on specific clients. Enough variety and we get a real sense of Paris. Which is just awesome. This is a show filled with positive energy and made very well.

The Oppenheim Group has the worst HR policy
27 August 2022
That and the fact this show, yet again, reinforces the stereotypes of real estate agents. I mean ... not even being able to stick to a script when calling a client "I don't know what to say" - is that for real? Agent for a 4,5M home. Solid. But maybe they aren't the sharpest tools in the shed? But seriously ... How could you hire a team that is unhinged from the get-go? Mind blowing. Sure, they make big bucks, but how much money is left on the table because this "team" does not operate on a, not even, tolerable level. This show should be mandatory for all HR departments as a masterclass on how not to hire employees or whatever it is they are.

Fun family, nice homes
8 August 2022
The homes, sure the designs could be more spectacular but it's attainable and livable. The dynamic between the family members comes across as genuine. I just enjoy it.

Watch, listen, learn

It's pretty obvious who the people giving the 1 star reviews are. Obviously they have a hard time reading statistics and struggle with any form of empathy. I saw a review here that read "he divided a nation" - sure. That right there tells you more than you need to know. Colin is an extremely talented player who wanted to do the right thing. A role model for many.

Mad sofa critics ...
24 September 2021
When you look at the reviews and see comments like "too political" you know it's gotta be good. I found Candyman very intriguing and it's "new" and more creative approach to the genre works very well. While it's not perfect, it sure is way better than a 1 or 2.

I honestly wanted to like this
28 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
First off all ... I'm not a "bro dude" that hates on movies with strong women, or women at the helm. But this ... Everything is bad. From Pascal's performance even down to the extras . There is so much on the nose dialogue. Boring exposition. Bad action scenes. Where is the cool music from the first one? The only thing that is somewhat believable is the bond between Diana and Steve. Don't waste your time. Unless you really have nothing better to do.

A charming love letter
4 October 2020
This is just fun. Don't expect any deep multi-layered story. It's just fun. I smiled from beginning to end. There's an old-hollywood love letter to NY vibe which is great. I'm done rambling on. Just watch it if you wanna have a good time.

Highly recommend it

There isn't a ton of obvious character building, bit there is plenty to get emotionally invested. It is more suspenseful and eery than most modern horror movies. It is a visually stunning and very well made. Go watch it!

Save me Jebus.
17 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
It's a complete experience. From cool to ridiculous, to absurd, to dumb, to (literally) Oh My God.

The good stuff. Some of the special effects are really cool. That's it.

The protagonist looks like he's high on coke and tripping on LSD at the same time. Kinda understandable when you've been abducted by Aliens.

The dialogue would get you an F in any writing class. "Hey, Rain Man, relax" uuh. If you're taking writing classes, please watch this. Dialogues are so on the nose Pinocchio wrote it. Like this joke.

But, what really makes this thing almost unwatchable is the soundtrack. It's all over the place. From Indiana Jones-like music to 80's beats and horrible lyrics. "Making contact". "The space between future and now, we're only getting closer." Even the music is on the nose. It has it all and is truly annoying as hell.

The movie proves that in Hollywood it's about who you know mostly. Not how good you are.

There is one thing that I don't understand. If an Alien would come looking for Jebus, why go to the woods in Canada somewhere, and not Jerusalem?

He looks good and wears a nice suit.
10 May 2020
I respect Seinfeld. He did a lot for comedy (and continues to do so with comedians in cars getting coffee) but this? Why?

His high-pitched voice is annoying to say the least. Where did that come from? Like a 15-year-old LA valley-girl talking with her friends. Its that kind of annoying.

There are some funny jokes, but I can't remember any of them. It's basically a boomer complaining about the world he finds himself in. Seen it before. And better.

And, pick up your trash at the movies.

Trying too hard
14 April 2020
Comedy and what someone thinks is funny is subjective. When you're on the toilet and laugh at your own fart and splash sounds, this show will crack you up. Concept could have been fine, but the constant barrage of less than mediocre jokes and unlikeable characters ruin it. Two stars for effort. But that's pushing it.

Decent action movie - worth watching
12 April 2020
All those 1-star reviews... Why? Who or which studio pays these people? Is this movie perfect? No. We've seen this revenge plot a 1000 times, sure. But, it's not the last time we'll see it either. So get over that, please. It is an enjoyable movie. Nothing more, nothing less. Definitely worth watching.

This true story deserved much more ...
29 March 2020
... and above all less Eisenberg. He's just not believable. His fast talking style couldn't more out of place. The rest of the cast is doing a decent job, and it is a story that needs to be told and never forgotten. But this was not the way.

There's bad, and there's this.
30 December 2019
I kept watching because it's so bad. The story is all over the place. It feels like a 3hr movie and it's just over an hour. If you want to know how not to make a film, or write it, watch this. How do things like this even get made? Who's the person that convinces producers that this is something solid?

I really really really want to like it more
28 December 2019
I was writing a review when I was 3/4 into season 1. My grade then was a 5. Why did it change to a 7? Well.. That first season drags on a bit. Every writing cliché we've seen 100 times before have been dug up again.

But, in defense of the writers, it's a 22 episode season. Jeez. You're bound to get into some clichés. when you have to write that many episodes.

David's performance is solid and so are the other dudes (no well-know actors - but solid) The dog guy does deserve some more camera time ... But hey. Shoutout to Toni Trucks who does a solid job as well.

It's clear they used good military advisors and the action scenes are fantastic. I say again: fantastic.

Season 2, especially the first half, is a punch in the gut. Really solid storytelling and I really like the fact we're not constantly fighting in Afghanistan or Iraq.

My main issue with the show is Jessica Paré. She wasn't great in Mad Men, but experience and more acting classes could have fixed that. Unfortunately, it hasn't. There's an interrogation scene in season one that's just laughable. The one in season 2, where's she's interrogating a woman with another agent, she really outclassed by the other agent. She says her lines and that's it. Acting? Nope. Pay days can come easy for some people.

Decent movie - great acting
24 July 2019
A lot of complaints again from basement critics. This is a solid movie. Good writing, good directing, but great acting.

The opening scene is excellent and sets the tone very well.

The haters are at it again
24 July 2019
If you liked the "old" movies, you'll enjoy this one. I didn't really like the acting, but the previous movies didn't win any best acting awards either.

It's fun. That's it. The Critters are cool and still look exactly like what they're supposed to look like. No cgi bs, practical effects.

it's all about expectations
20 July 2019
The amount of negative reviews here is astonishing. Expectations people. This isn't the new No Country For Old Men. Grillo performs well, as usual. Luke Grimes is good. Is it predictable? Sure. It's a fun movie to watch. It's well shot. Acting is fine.
