Lovely
4 September 2018
You will appreciate this movie if you have ever had a loving healthy relationship, you will likely resent it if your experience doesn't reflect the respect and love shared on screen between spouses, family and friends. Henry Jaglom's character portrays a mentally fit and emotionally intelligent husband, which is rarely portrayed in film. I appreciate not having to wade through personality disorders or being being frustrated/anxious by watching people engage in toxic exchanges. This is a great movie for someone who doesn't seek need flawed characters on screen to make them feel better about themselves.

Accurate portrayal of real life

So many of the reviews here are picking apart the characters, they are hung up on the flaws of characters and aren't able to articulate a review of the film. The film does a great job of bringing the viewer into their world. This is real life, if you don't like it, do something about it - by the movie is simply a reflection of reality. I read a review that said the movie was depressing, and complained as if it didn't deliver. Yeah, it depressing, it's supposed to be. Not all movies have an uplifting soundtrack and feel good catch phrases.

I was crying at the end. If you don't finish it, your loss. If you're not crying by the end... ask yourself why not.

I'm a Floridian. This is real. It reminds me of Bully & Gummo - but a younger generation. Our ociety makes this possible, people who deny the truth will be "bored" or upset by the film. That doesn't mean it's undeserving of a proper rating.

Black Comedy Telenovela

Holy Crap, how do they do it!? I'm laughing, crying, gasping AND I feel like I'm watching daytime drama. Seriously genius. They've managed to hit on so many social issues... it's unreal how they managed it. And I absolutely did not expect the ending. Genius. Did I already say that? It's Brilliant.

Sam Rockwell is a genius
6 August 2018
I'm from small town USA, I know Dickson. Rockwell nailed it. McDermott had me crying through the whole movie. Themes of love justice, regret, shame, redemption are repeated throughout through various characters. The plot twists were unpredictable, like a fit of rage. I expected this to be a good movie, didn't realize it was THAT good.

True

This documentary is a nice view into the life of a self aware and articulate survivor of sexual assault. Everyone deals with trauma differently, & I applaud this healthy outlet of healing.

I would love to ask the authors of the negative reviews two questions:

1. What was it like for you when a repulsive monster penetrated you against your wishes. 2. How did you cope with that?
