Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Once upon a looong time ....
There's a fantastic 2:15 movie in here. At full length it's still pretty terrific but there's a lot of stuff that didn't seem to me to advance or enhance the plot. Great acting, though, and lots of Tarentino's trademark dialogue and dark humor.
Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee: Melissa Villaseñor (2019)
Melissa who?
She's very talented but you wouldn't know it from the show. All you learn about her is that she finds Seinfeld very funny, though a lot of it seemed like nervous laughter.
The Room (2003)
Bad in so many ways
I love a good movie and I love a good bad movie. "The Room" isn't either of those. It's just BAD. A couple of the actors do their best with what they have to work with but it's very little. It's really hard to say what Wiseau's greatest weakness is: his acting, his writing or his directing. They're all awful. This movie must have gotten its 9 Metacritic score purely out of sympathy. I am, however, looking forward to watching "The Disaster Artist," if only to enjoy how it's possible to make a good movie about making a bad one.
Glass (2019)
Flawed, but a good ride
The movie has holes you could drive a 747 through and in places, especially at the end, is really contrived, but it's still worth seeing. Note to M.N.S.: Relax, dude. Just because you hit it big having twists at the end of your movies doesn't mean you have to keep upping the ante. Go do a comedy.
Unbreakable (2000)
Disappointing
Loved "Split" and wanted to see this before seeing "Glass." Maybe my expectations were too high, but I thought it was way too slow developing for one fairly minor action sequence and a twist that was pretty obvious and then went nowhere, with the wrapup in a written narrative like a cop show.
