Prey (2022)
You know what? Not a bad movie.
When my bf said he wanted to see the new Predator movie and he was expecting me to come along with him I rolled my eyes thinking of about 100 other things I'd like to be doing with my time besides watching yet another franchise reboot. But an hour in, I was pleasantly surprised to be invested in the characters, and not bored or flabbergasted by the plot line. The cinematography was very well done, and it wasn't an overly gross out violent movie- the build up to the end was effortless, with no major stumbles and the conclusion of the movie was ultimately satisfying. I have to say, well done- it checked all of the boxes and I didn't walk out thinking I had wasted any time by watching this movie. Is it a classic? Perhaps not but a very solid homage payed the original with a creative flair that I appreciate while adhering to principles of good storytelling. Well done Hulu, see it if you haven't already, it's pretty darn good!

Worth watching for the cinematography alone
This movie is gorgeous. Every shot is a visual feast. I really thought it was quite beautiful, for a small budget indie film that is also the directors first foray, honestly, I am impressed. I get it, the plot isn't the strongest, but it's not an abomination either. It lags a bit, and I wish we had more screen time with the antagonist, the actor playing him was one of the better ones. I really recommend watching it and hope this director can one day sink his teeth into something truly meaty- but this was a very good place to start.
