Death and Other Details (2024)
So far, so "okay"...
Is this a side story/spinoff of the Knives Out franchise? Came to me whilst writing, I'll Google it later, but I always give a new series at least three episodes, which isn't possible at this moment since I can only view two episodes, still, Mandy shouldn't be attempting the English English accent, voice is too gruff, but so far so good in my opinion, loved those movies, and like most of these actors to this point, so my rating is subject to watching the entire season...
Yikes, so a review needs at least six hundred characters? I don't do many, but most will be filler, as I mentioned prior, after the first two, it deserves at least another episode, which I'll have to wait for apparently.
Resurrection (2022)
Lol, well 🤔
So, no, def not Hall's "best work", but morons like Zack_Gideon and anyone else ripping this movie simple because they were born (unfortunately) with the brain power of a 5 year old (everlasting), doesn't mean this isn't worth the watch. Rating ANY movie less than 5 stars should mean it was made in your cousin's basement, geezus, and agreed, the metaphors were a bit vague and not mind-blowing, but the idiots saying it was a waste of 103 minutes? It's like, wtf have you done with all the minutes since you finished the film nimrod 😶 anyhow, knew from GO this was about allegory and metaphor and "deep-ish" blah blah, but wow, Hall has lost some weight and looks FANTASTIC (always did but just saying), and is still a top notch actress, although yeah 🤔 her talents coulda been better utilized elsewhere, I suppose 😕, BUT, it wasn't HORRIBLE, and def doesn't deserve a 8-10/10, but damn sure no 1-3s, good god, buncha nobodies ripping on a movie that didn't make you giz (physically or mentally) so you're gonna try and tear it to shreds??? Pathetic. Look, it's not her best movie, but it's worth a watch to at least see if you can h tangle the metaphorical mind F that it turns out to be, which honestly, I called 10 min into the film (not exactly but I knew some weird ass ending was coming). But to all those yokel moronic wannabe "critics" who went to Fordham and have an art degree, stfu, and recognize that not every single friggin movie is gonna be "box office" 😶 ya just MIGHT have to dig your worthless "degree" out of the garbage and use your brain every now and then 👍🏼👍🏼 good god 😳 oh, and don't forget your friggin shinebox.
The Strays (2023)
Lol, umm...
...when has Jordan Peele done ANYTHING half worthwhile since his debut "Get Out"? (Response to another review). I do thoroughly enjoy all the reviews of all movies with people manhandling their Roget's, I suppose to come across as intelligent? Huh? Sometimes movies are simply made to he enjoyed, not poured over and utterly shredded in meaningless attempts to find some sort of "deep" meaning ...eye roll... good lord, just stfu and watch, and when you hate on a movie and still give it 4+ stars, that's rather tardio, JS. Watch and use your own brain, this review is for 90% of the movies out there, geniuses.
Ava (2020)
Lol, sad people...
Yes, the premise has been done before, as have plenty of horror stories and others, it's the execution, direction, etc that make some stand out over others...some of these "reviewers" who ripped this movie, if you can say you didn't like "Hanna", or the Korea movie "The Witch", should have their movie card pulled immediately. This wasn't the best but damn sure wasn't the worst, Chastain is at the forefront....sad little people all boo-hoo about the pandemic just waiting to smash on anything....IMDB should institute a way to read the reviews for every person on all movies, to give you a good idea on whether or not to ignore it immediately lol. There's not much else out there to watch these days, this is def watchable, not a 5, def not a 10, but somewhere in between and again, worth the time.
Manyeo (2018)
Hanna has NOTHING on this gal 😶
Get past the subtitles and the first half of the movie, and prepare yourself for some kick a** CGI fighting lol, oh, and a cool twist. I personally prefer subtitles to the voiceovers, but Korean accents are a tad annoying, But still this movie rocks! I'm a guy so maybe that's part of it lol, but compared to some of the other drivel Netflix has been handing out lately, must see!
Assassin's Creed (2016)
Silly people who never played the game....
Look, I get that oftentimes you need not to have played the game to enjoy a movie based on a video game, but to rag on the plot is just asinine. It's based on a friggin game folks, if the plot was any less it wouldn't be one of the best selling video game franchises of all time. Get past that aspect, and this was awesome, and very well done. I must admit, I was worried, the sheer size and scope the game makes for a CGI nightmare, but they did very well I think, and Fassbender is perfect. Again, you don't have to have played the game, and if you didn't like it that's fine of course, but attempting to poke holes in the story and call it scattered or unbelievable is flat out stupid. Jog on, and don't watch movies based on FANTASY video games 👍🏼
