The Lighthouse (2019)
A solid film that thinks highly of itself
I give this movie credit for how unique it is. The movie looks good and the actors play their roles well. There isn't much of a story besides two guys sitting alone in a lighthouse.
This is the kind of movie where you'd think, at any moment, a character will turn to the camera and say, "Isn't this movie amazing?!' The movie needs to speak for itself. As the movie goes along it begins to feel more and more forced for the sake of drama and suspense. The final act becomes a comedy when it isn't supposed to be. Two guys farting on each other, drinking kerosene, and getting off to a bright lightbulb. Hell, at one point in the film you have one guy touching himself to the light while the other is crawling around like a pet dog. I know there is meaning behind it, but things just get weird and you start to wonder if there is another way to express said meaning.
This is a cool, unique film. It is just a bit pretentious.
The Lion King (2019)
The Lion King, only worse...
This is, at most, a tech demo. At worst, it is a tragedy.
The graphics and animation are great, but what is this mess? The audio is mixed poorly, There are moments where you can even hear the mic peaking. The music is over produced. The voice acting is fine, but so what?
Watch the original Lion King. Don't even bother with this mess unless you're interested in realistic animations (although it is already starting to show it's age.)
Scrubs: My Fishbowl (2007)
Classic Scrubs
The main plot centering around a suicidal veteran is sad and relatable to many people. The Janitor and fish subplot provides nice comic relief away from the main plot. The humor is done well enough to take the edge off a serious subject. The main and secondary characters don't go through any major growth in this episode, so it is moderately inconsequential from a story perspective.
Scrubs: My Night to Remember (2007)
Watch it if you are watching the series for the first time, but skip it otherwise
Just a filler episode of clips. Not worth watching more than once, and it isn't even required to be watched once. In my opinion, this is the worst episode of Scrubs.
Another Dirty Room (2016)
Perfection
Nothing is more entertaining than seeing Dan, Rick, and Brennan tear apart and review a dirty hotel/motel room. Oh boy, the things they find will leave you grossed out but you'll be laughing the whole time. Love it!
Creeps & Monsters (2019)
Dan Bell continues to put out great work
Dan is one of the best filmmakers in the Baltimore area, and it is great to see him do work outside of the city. Creeps & Monsters shows you the locations of famous "supernatural" events. He provides lots of information and does a great job filming the locations. The pacing is good and it is just all around great fun to watch.
