3 Body Problem: Countdown (2024)
A perfect first episode
The first episode was honestly perfect, the ending of it is astonishing. Truly hope that the Netflix model of releasing the show at once doesn't dim its light and make it just a blip on people's radar.
Must see first episode for anyone who actually enjoys sci-fi and modern cinematic television, it was creepy, it was mysterious, it was fun, it was intelligent. Truly hope that the rest of the season goes well.
The one issue I and some fans had with the book was the Aliens always go to the USA/the white house syndrome early sci-fi used to have in the 90s-2000s in the case of the book China I suppose, the show has truly done its best to internationalize it and make it feel like a global problem from episode one.
Elsbeth (2024)
Amazing show, so fun.
Absolutely a 10/10 for the first episode!
No time was wasted; the pacing was superb. I was captivated throughout the entire hour, and it just breezed by.
The writing is exceptionally clever and humorous, ensuring a constant smile. Surprisingly, a character that might be perceived as annoying is actually comes off quite charming.
The only critique is the portrayal of police competence or engagement. However, one could argue that this mirrors real-life situations, considering what we know about the police... and their gross mishandling of things.
Additionally, it's reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes, who consistently highlights the police's incompetence in noticing small details.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Subspace Rhapsody (2023)
Beautiful musical episode!
The production in question is truly a masterpiece of musical artistry. The only critism is that it didn't move the plot enough.
I'd argue that that if the music were performed by a different artist or existed within a different context, it might receive a different response from the haters where they would have been screaming and cheering for it. The actors gave it all! Don't get the hate.
I hope to see more episodes like this sadly with the very vocal minority of haters I doubt we will.
If you are looking to enjoy a plot heavy episode this is not it, but if you want a light and heavy hearted conversation about the characters in a singing form this is perfect.
