Tarzan and Jane (2017–2018)
8/10
A classic
6 January 2017
It is not everyday that we see a new iconic character (or two) in a new style and medium and to a different target group. And it is less often that it actually works. Well, today Netflix launched a brand new animated version of Tarzan and the focus is not only on this character but on Jane. She is smart, athletic and his equal and that's saying a lot. From the jungle to the big city (London), we travel with Tarzan after he is saved from a burning plane by a gorilla who ends up raising him. I really do like this show, its attempt at being old and yet new, and still relevant. The animation is strong and i do think that I need to see more to properly judge the show because so far, it is pretty cool. Even the purist should like this rendition.

Kong: King of the Apes (2016–2018)

Really cool take on a classic
6 January 2017
So many people want classic or iconic characters to look the same and for the story line to never change. I understand that but as storytellers, we all want to try new directions and expand our imagination. This take on King Kong achieves that goal and is fun and set in 2050 which allows for the future to meet the past. It is a fun movie and the reception worldwide has been awesome. Season 2 is already in production. With Tarzan and Jane launching today on Netflix, how great would it be to see a Tarzan Vs. Kong series next? Would love that! After all, Tarzan is a human raised by a gorilla while Kong is a gorilla raised by humans. It has never been done and could be a lot of fun.
