The Passage of Mrs. Calabash (2004)
The unlikely tale of two strangers and a chicken...

A consummate journey film, The Passage of Mrs. Calabash is an excellent exercise in patient film-making. The pacing, the narrative flow of information and the delicate balance between humor and intrigue arrest one's attention and fully endear the viewer to the characters. Distinctive stylistic elements reminiscent of Hitchcock's Life Boat and Christopher Nolan's Memento, The Passage of Mrs. Calabash truly delivers. With an ever-sharpening eye for the craft, director Scott Tuft overcomes with great finesse the challenges of relaying a subtle yet complex story within the confines of a limited location. Scott Tuft is an up and coming filmmaker of tremendous potential worthy of a closer look.
