The Post (2017)
One of Spielberg's best films ...
I love the 'finesse' of Director Steven Spielberg in that movie. You really feel the hand of a master of cinema in the interactions, the storytelling, the ambiance, and the music choices. Well it is not a big blockbuster Hollywood action movie but it is strong cinema and a strong story with an important message.
A parallel movie to this is 'Darkest Hour' which is really related to the theme.
All the Money in the World (2017)
A movie you should not miss
I will resume in few words:
-Acting, the new actor is so much better in that role than K. Spacey.
-Story
-Directing
-Cinematography
Ridley Scott delivers a powerful film about the love of money and the love of human life. He asks the follow question, what between this two is more precious?
Worth watching!
Fly Away Home (1996)
Good souvenirs ...
I watched this movie when I was really young. It has some powerful magic and beautiful cinematography. Really go and see it if you haven't seen it!
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017)
Something special
What a movie! The message, what is being said, the script and the interaction with the actors, all that is powerful and easy to follow along. I really enjoyed watching this UNIQUE FILM. Be aware, the language is often really explicit ... but if that doesn't bother you, what are you waiting for? Go and watch it in your closest theatre!
The Case for Christ (2017)
Underrated movie - Worth watching!
As a cinematographer I was really surprised by the photographic quality of the film. It definitely looks like film. It was actually shot on a Red Dragon, a digital cinema camera. The story is really clear and easy to follow. The actors play well and the music add it touch to the ambiance. Overall I felt that this is an important movie, and every strong story needs to be told especially if it is based on true events. The film has some minor directing quirks, things that could have been more worked out/showed/said in a more fluent way, that's why 9/10.
The Passion of the Christ (2004)
Lifetime achievement in Cinema
Outstanding cinematography, powerful storytelling and the most important of all, the script is closely accurate to the biblical story. Darren Aronofsky's Noah and Ridley Scott's Exodus, both movies failed because they had no biblical accuracy. No doubt, Mel Gibson made a lifetime achievement in Cinema with this film ... Even if you watch it only once in your life... it is a must see.
Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (2016)
Plenty of action but the plot and the story are too weak
I loved the first film of "Jack Reacher". It really was a great content packed motion picture. From start I didn't expect too much from Jack Reacher 2 but after having watched it I felt like it wasn't worth the 2 hours cinema experience. The Film begins with a story which for me isn't the most interesting and then takes an air of "Taken" with Tom Cruise playing the father who wants to protect his "fictional daughter" from being kidnapped. There are also some moments remembering me the opening action sequence of "James Bond Spectre". In total the plot is not interesting enough and you assist in the end to an action packed commercial movie. The movies had also something "too americanized" feeling to it which in my humble opinion was negative for the viewers experience... I could imagine watching it again once but I wouldn't buy it on Blu-Ray.
