Brilliant.
28 August 2009
I went into this movie expecting nothing and hoping for something. I had really enjoyed Kill Bill vol 1&2 and after recently re-watching them on Blu-ray back-to-back, I can say now that I REALLY enjoyed Kill Bill 1&2... but it still did not hold a candle to Pulp Fiction or even Reservoir Dogs for that matter.

I'm here to tell you that Inglourious Basterds is an absolute masterpiece... FAR surpassed my wildest hopes and blows Kill Bill out of the water. I dare say it may even top Pulp Fiction in my books after a few more viewings.

I Very Very rarely, at the end of a movie in the theatres, before I even get back to my car... want to watch the movie again. And then for days after I Can Not stop thinking about it, and how much I want to watch it again... and again!!! I've seen it now 3 times in theatres, with different friends and family members who all express different opinions.

The movie is simply an experience. Tarantino immerses you into this world of his with extremely well done characters and some of the best dialogue exchanges I have ever witnessed on screen... plus the greatest last 15 minutes of a movie probably ever done. There is not a single character in this movie who doesn't deserve an award - but Most of all was Christoph Waltz as Col. Hans Landa. Absolutely breathtaking acting as the sadistic Nazi...

Go See This Movie Now.

A good watch
2 July 2009
First off - before I get to the movie itself... I just wanted to speak to the morons who ALWAYS automatically vote 1 for everything Boll does - without even watching the damn movie. Its just a really childish and insanely stupid thing to do.

I personally have really enjoyed his past few films... you just never know what to expect when you sit down and watch a Uwe Boll movie and I commend that! In The Name of the King in particular for its insanely over-the-top obviously made to be laughed at entertainment. I mean really -- KING Burt Reynolds??? (best "last conversation before dying" scene I've ever watched... I laughed for like 15 minutes)... and a Ray Liotta Magi who constantly says the most hilarious stuff throughout the movie. And the choreography of the fight scenes was actually quite commendable (sadly not violent, but its all good) - anyways....

... and then Seed, Postal, Tunnel Rats (best war movie I've seen in years - phenomenal flick) --- all 3 are fantastic movies in their own right. Far Cry was god awful and so was Alone in the Dark 2 (sorry Uwe)

And then we have STOIC! - In the same dark/depressing vein that made Tunnel Rats such a kick ass movie... this thing takes you on a wild ride. A ride NOT for the squeamish to be more precise... and not for people who can only watch "Hollywood blockbuster" crap to be entertained. Thankyou to the other reviewer for this movie; I did not know most the movie was "improv" on the actors part and that's an incredibly awesome move on Bolls part to boot... gave the movie a feeling of reality you don't see much anymore. The last half hour in particular is some seriously intense stuff. The acting was also very good... after watching American History X like 19 times + Animal Factory (highly underrated movie), and of course Detroit Rock City + even Dark Reel was pretty damn entertaining... I've always really liked Furlong -- and I'm really happy to see him again in top form. The other actors too were excellent; especially Sam Levinson as the most sympathetic/remorseful of them all.

So go find this movie and watch it - then find Tunnel Rats and watch that... and then STOP giving this man the automatic 1's he does not deserve (except for maybe Far Cry... dude, that was just BAD)!!!

Coraline (2009)

Excellent.

I'm going to make this simple as we already have MANY perfect reviews which explain this movie well. Absolutely creepy, trippy and over-the-top eye candy filled storytelling. Incredible animation - one of my favorites to date.

If you have not seen this yet - go rent it now. If you have a sexy TV then get the 3d version when u rent it. Orrrr buy the BluRay!!

Now I only feel terrible for missing this in 3d theaters :-(( Simply the fact that Beowulf was boring on regular DVD when the 3d version was absolutely incredible... this movie is amazing even without 3d... /cry oh well.

The Children (2008)

Top Notch Horror!!! Finally!!!
29 March 2009
You can read the rest of the reviews for the basic synopsis of this movie (plz ignore the person who turned it OFF after only 30min and then called it garbage) -- I have not been more surprised by a movie I was expecting to suck in a long long long time. I started watching this thinking "oh yay another village of the damned!" and was expecting to laugh the entire movie. NOT QUITE!! The slow burning suspense of this movie is flawless as it sloowwwly makes the audience truly begin fearing these kids and are put in a constant anticipated state, wondering with giddy delight (if your a horror freak like me), or possibly biting ur nails to see what they'll do next.

Unlike "The Ring" where the stupid damn kid is supposed to be soooo scary and yet she just a dirty little dead girl -- if that girl came out of the television and sloowly started crawling toward me-- Ide kick her in the face and not think twice! LoL ---- But with "The Children" you actually feel the fear because you 100% totally understand why its hard for the parents to injure or kill their kids... or even simply be able to comprehend WTF IS HAPPENING around them -- Love the use of sound and was very impressed by quite a few of the nice camera angles used to enhance the suspense. The kids acting was spot-on perfect -- a lot of creeping standing around and giving creepy looks. A couple hot women in here as well, all excellent acting to fit the roles.

GO SEE THIS MOVIE.

Bats (1999)

Worst movie ever award
23 January 2009
If i could give this movie a .5 I would. Im in 100% agree with the AWFUL category to which most reviews lean toward ... very very bad bad movie. There has never been a single movie in my life to which I've been able to actually say I did not like, perhaps hated, every single aspect of. Even for any other extremely horribly mind numbingly BAD movies... usually they at least have ONE good thing to say about them. The Postman for example... for it I could say, "Hey well the first half an hour is a pretty awesome flick!". Well so then Bats came along and took away X amount of time from my life to which I'll never get back and be horribly scared by for life.

I was hoping ide enjoy the camp, as i often do... but no. Im usually very tolerant with movies as well and enjoy a wide range. This was just so damn bad.. oh god just saying "Bats" out loud or to type it makes me feel sick.

This movie is just God Awful and hurts the brain. Never rent it, Never buy it and Never watch it simply because your obviously retarded friend suggests the idea. Run away if forced by someone and destroy it if given as a gift.

There simply IS NO WAY and not enough space in the world to sit here and list / describe all the problems and questions this movie has and creates... this is why this review is simply over and over drilling into your brain how BLOODY BAD this movie is.

Be aware. Stay Back. RUN AWAY.

Suck. Big Fat Suck.

God awful movie. After reading the book and going back and watching this movie for a second time, I am sorely disappointed. Like I Am Legend, this movie has very little to do with the original book. A terrible adaptation and even more-so terrible by the horrendous acting, cinematography and sets.

I keep seeing people say "oh but it was great for its time!" -- Thats a dumb statement. A movie is either good, or bad. This one was terrible and no crying or whining about how "they tried so hard" will make it good.

Oh and the end... Jesus Christ the end... what the hell was that??
