Small scale 'Die Hard' in a Hospital
7 December 2019
Isn't not hard to jump into this one from the premise if a brisk/tense thriller is what you're after. It's got a well acted ensemble and of course Mr. Willis has small cameo as a grizzled Detective. Best parts are watching Nicky as the heroine doing her best to survive and fight back against the corrupt cops. Tito surprised me with how menacing he was. Impressive action and well shot cinematography for whats a smaller budget.

Pretty dated story and acting

I went into this with an open mind and I'm a big fan of Keanuu but this was a huge disappointment. His "acting" in this is soooooo bad. He looks like he is lost and unable to really make up for poor dialogue or weak scenes. Patrick is the only saving grace in this film. I don't see what all the hype about this film was. It seriously felt corny and dated all over. Not exciting and nothing we haven't seen a million times before. Just skip this and see SPEED instead! At least that was action packed!

Well done if not underrated thriller

Some people keep saying it was derivative but I loved the way this film pushed the genre constrains in it's own unique and intriguing ways. Sure it was clichéd at certain obvious moments and had its inherent flaws but at the same token it surprised me at a few turns. I won't spoil this for anyone and I wont tell you the plot but just give it a try if you're bored one afternoon and have an hour or so to kill. just Just don't expect an Oscar worthy performance or mind blowing character study.

Not better than a 6/10 and the acting could have had a little more to it but I would watch something by these filmmakers again.

Surprisingly well done genre film
18 September 2014
Saw this in the festival circuit last year when it was titled 'The Gauntlet.' It's a little bit of Saw and a little bit of DaVinci Code.

Five strangers wake up in what seems to be a labyrinthine or underground castle with no memory of how they got there. Their relationships to one another are unknown, and the loyalties they form for survival are tenuous at best. Each level of this dungeon proves a grueling challenge where the price to move forward is often another person's life. Along the way, a sense of each person's past and a glimmer of their true character peeks through. In fact this is the more enjoyable aspect of the feature. I respected the internal life of these characters and learning who they were.

Meanwhile, blood, much blood, much death. Bai Ling (The Beautiful Country, The Crow) is fantastic as a disturbed and merciless survivalist. Though the least of the actors that needs to prove themselves on an ostensibly low-budget genre flick, Bai Ling goes for broke, covered in blood for basically the entire film. Another treat was the casting of Dustin Nguyen (The Rebel) whose performance is one of subtlety and dignity. The Gauntlet is what it is. It goes for broke and I had fun while it did.

Still Love this movie!
2 July 2014
Indiana Jones is still an enduring and timeless classic in every way a great film should be. I can watch this movie when I'm a graying, senile 90 years old grandmother and still LOVE IT! The story, acting, suspense, adventure, thrills, chills and everything in between is universal and timeless. It doesn't get better than this combo of Lucas, Ford and Spielberg!

Some of the photography, pacing and ending Special Effects is dated a bit, but I think Ford's charisma, charm and ruggedness still holds up with age. He's still so dreamy I'm still in love ;)

Worth a rewatch if you haven't seen it in years like me!
