Oppenheimer (2023)
Christopher Nolan, ladies and gentlemen!
I had the privilege to watch it yesterday in an IMax theater and it was a wholesome experience. This movie ranks for me among Nolan's top 3 films and there is nothing anyone could do to change my mind. Nolan jumped in a completely new genre other than the adventure, action and sci fi genre and he outdid most of the biography films I have seen. I also hardly watch any political films and surprisingly the movie could grab my attention that much. From the very first scene till the last the cinematography and the great Ludwig Göransson's score will take your breath away and I think the oscar for best cinematography and score has already been decided. Ludwig's score in this film overtakes some of Hanz Zimmer's top scores that I admire. The VFX is no doubt so well made as well and you already know that he didn't use a single CGI shot. The movie resembles Cillian Murphy's top lifetime performance and I doubt anyone could have done Oppenheimer better than him and I doubt anyone could top his performance this year and it would be a complete robbery If he didn't get the oscar this year. More importantly, this movie represents a savior for RDJ's career. The first half his time on the screen wasn't much enough and I started to doubt that he would be great at all, however, the second half of the film was ompletely driven by him. He will take your breath away with one of his all-time best performance and I doubt that he would!t get at least an oscar nom for this. Emily Blunt and Florence Pugh's time on the screen wasn't much and I actually didn't like Florence's character at all. Emily did a couple of great scenes within the time allowed for her, but still I actually felt this character a bit weird and her relationship and actions with Oppenheimer wasn't clear enough for me. The editing of this film was also one of the heros got all these elements together and of course all of that wouldn't haven been possible without the great mr. Christopher Nolan. He easily can transform any element and any actor to the best form he could ever imagine of himself. All in all, it's a cinematic meal that you wouldn't wanna miss and the I-Max experience was one of a kind. A solid 9/10 and one of Nolan's all time top films.
The Fabelmans (2022)
Hugo 2011 chills!!
It's been a while since a I saw a Spielberg movie that I'd say "finally, Spielberg is back". This movie is pure art and about art. The story is beautiful and simple, the cast gives a good performance and I would be upset for Michelle Williams not winning an Oscar for her performance here cause it's one of her top 5 performances ever. You also got a great score with every scene that added depth, warmth and excitement to each scene, even at times you could her it switching from comforting feeling to shock and unbelievable events. You got a great cinematography literally till the last shot of the film. Yet it's not the best Spielberg movie but definitely one of his best. A solid 8/10 and a must watch with the fam.
Glass Onion (2022)
Ruined!!
Simply ruined a franchise that could have been iconic. A very lame movie with a less mediocre plot and a very lame opening sequence for more than half an hour. The only good part about it might be Daniel's acting but the screenplay didn't seem to have helped him much. Even the colors and the atmosphere of the whole film and the details that we were used to during the first one are gone. There wasn't any kind of good music/score for the film. As I mentioned you can guess the killer easily from the beginning even the ending itself is a very dumb pointless one that will ruin your whole experience even more. Totally disappointed. 4/10 and I am being generous here!
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
A good sequel!
I can simply put my opinion like this: Expectaions - My Opinion about the Movie - Disappointed
I am in an in between zone where i can't say that the movie lived to my expectations nor did it really disappoint me, however i still enjoyed it with the great visuals but being perfect made it a bit weird at times! Also the movie has a unique problem which i never encountered before which is a frames problem. There were cut und shots where you will see everyone moving faster than the previous shots with something being strange about it! Also discovering the world during the first half of the film and trying to amaze the audience with beauty of the visuals was waaaay too long during the first half of the film, then the second half of it the action started and it didn't disappoint. Don't miss the movie at the theater.
The Adam Project (2022)
What can you say. There must always be these low-quality films!
In short, a less than mediocre movie. Same Ryan Reynolds. Same stupid jokes. Same predictable story. Same mediocre effects. Same mediocre score and same mediocre netflix. A waste of time.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
What a poor movie!
Didn't feel until the credits that it's a Marvel movie. By comparing it to other Marvel movies, it ranks among the lowest in terms of VFX, story and acting. Trying so hard to be epic with lots of replays and plot holes. However it had great stunts and action sequences.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
Might be the best Spider-Man movie till date! Even if it's not perfect.
I just watched the movie at the theatre and you really don't wanna miss this one out. I will make it simple, the movie will live to your expectations If not exceed them, however, during the first half of the film you won't witness anything new. Every fight scene is in the trailer and I LITREALLY mean every fight scene. But don't get me wrong they were awesome and of course not the whole fight scenes. It's also full of talking and a bit more funny lines than usual. You also have a very very silly plot that was based on some character's opinion and lead to all the events of the film and then comes on of the best plots and entrances near the beginning of the second half that you will ever witness and here comes the second half of the movie and trust me it was beyond awesome. The VFX of this film is breathtaking. Every action sequence is very complicated and loaded with tons of details. The visuals are insaaane. You also have a couple of Spidy suits and most importantly you won't be disappointed with anything you might be expecting. You have Dr. Strange and believe me it was one of the best times you will see him along with another hero cause Benedict is such a great actor. Zendaya role however was meaningless but you know she is Spidy's GF. The Finale of the film is beyond great and feels like a dream come true for all fans around the world that will leave you full of emotions, amazed and shocked! Even the two post credit scenes made everyone yell in the theatre (who yelled for more than half of the movie). Not a perfect movie and a lot of things may not make sense and will make your brain full of questions like Endgame and that's what make a movie a great one. I have now experienced the whole trilogy at the theatre and there is no doubt that this one is the best. I hope you just relax and enjoy it cause as a fan I'd give it a 10/10 easily but a solid 9/10 with love and joy is fair enough.
The Father (2020)
Never felt how much pain and loss someone with Alzheimer feels.
I don't wanna exaggerate, but this is pure cinema. When you see a film that slowly drags you to the plot and you can slowly notice that every scene has a slight difference from the preceding one but you are just so immersed in the plot and affected by Sir. Anthony Hopkins's. The performance is way more than great. The movie will make you feel confused and heartbroken however, you will feel touched. You have a great screenplay with the right words that delivers the right emotions. You have a smooth score that you almost can't separate from every scene. Some say that the movie lacks entertainment and for them I have to say that you lack how to enjoy a great movie cause when a movie is so noble and pure like that you only raise your hat and learn how to get entertained in the presence of greatness not expect that you are gonna watch a marvel film. What in incredible feeling this movie made me feel and what a place it holds now in my heart.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)
As disastrous as the first movie and more!
Is this the Venom we all know? No, it's more of a child actually with a naive screenplay along with Hardy's worst performance I've ever seen. You have got tons of plot holes and you feel that all the actors are actually lost. You don't feel it's the same Eddie Brock from the last part and you certainly don't feel Woody Harelson doing such a stupid role. Even the visuals are not at it's best especially the scene by the beach and I'm not giving any spoilers here but it's really really bad seeing Venom at the sunlight and it's actually strange cause when you have "bad VFX" all you do is creating most of your scenes in the dark so that nobody can notice how bad it is but being stupid enough to show how bad you are exceeds expectations. Also look for how Carnage originated in the film. You got Venom coming out of Eddie to attack Harelson and Harelson bites his hands and tastes his blood and he only becomes suspicious of Eddie because he tasted blood before and that wasn't the regular taste of it!!! So the hand that came out of nowhere and beat the hell out of you didn't make you suspicious!! If that doesn't make you fell how bad this film is I don't know what. However, Venom had a lot of funny lines in the film that even though I don't feel him doing comedy lines and even though it was a lot, I enjoyed it. You can easily skip all of this and watch this while eating a snack and not expecting much and you (maybe) get entertained.
Stillwater (2021)
Solid Performance let down by a slow storyline!
I first heard of the movie from the news that Matt Damon got a standing ovation for it. However His performance though it's good is not that good! I mean his last epic performance at Ford V Ferrari was soo great that you can't even compare it with this. The character itself will make you notice that half of the movie he is not making any kind of reaction so, I didn't find where the actual challenge in it regardless of his flawless accent. Everyone did a good job but in short it's that kind of movies that you only watch for the star and everyone else is mediocre or a miscast led by the slow story with it's weak characters and plot holes. Though it gets you attached with a good performance by Damon, I don't think it will appeal to a lot of people. 6.5/10 you can give a try.
No Time to Die (2021)
What an epic movie and a final!! And what one hell of a ride we had the privilege to witness!
I can say it with full mouse that this is the best Bond film (for me) in the whole saga. Whatever you hoped for you will find it in this movie. The realistic one-shot action that make you feel every punch, creative stunts that were more than epic, an epic cinematography along with lightning that made the scenes artistic as possible, a breathtaking score and who's better than Hanz Zimmer to write the score for Craig's last ride as Bond, a horror and full of surprises beginning that I consider one of the best movie beginnings and finally one hell of a conclusion to this saga.
The Performance of Craig was the one that we deserved an epic solid one that delivered every emotion and feeling that Bond felt. Also the great effort he did in the stunts was very obvious on the screen and I feel like he spent every drop of blood and sweat to make these scenes as great as possible. Also Léa's performance was pretty good, overrated at moments but still great. I can't also emphasize on how great Ralph Fiennes is as it's his profession to give us a solid performance at every movie he makes. And finally you got a whole action sequence for Bond's Aston Martin DB5 which was the finest appearance for the car at the whole franchise.
Hanz Zimmer my god what a score you created for this movie. No one could have helped deliver this movie in terms of the score better than you.
His score was almost synchronizing with every move of the scenes that at points you will fell it's attached to the scene as one unseparated thing.
The Cinematography was wonderful where every scene was like a piece of art even the ending shot along with the beautiful color grading for every scene. You will see sharp scenes, colorful scenes and dark scenes that gives your eye the feeling of that you have seen much as it's runtime is near 3hrs.
All these elements are combined together with enthusiasm for two actors, Rami Malek (the antagonist) and Ana De Armas (as Paloma).
Ana De Armas was great. I mean I feel kinda fooled for using her for the advertisement of the film while she was more like a guest in the movie about 20 minutes or less but she delivered her part perfectly and she was so funny.
As for Rami Malek, It was only the beginning of the movie that he was great at while the rest of the film he didn't even appear much and when he appeared he wasn't doing anything but talking making you feel that anyone could have done thia role. I mean what kind of an antagonist is this that doesn't appear much on the screen and lacks depth especially at his second to last scene that made the whole segment before it meaningless?! I will let you figure it out yourself.
The intro of the movie was soo late that I felt the feeling I had after this awesome action packed beginning was fading but still was so artistic and quite impressive actually. Bond was also a bit invincible at points which was kinda unbelievable but still great .Also the finale of the movie you can't have help but have a mixed feelings about it because despite being so much epic that you could have never imagined a more epic finale, you also feel like it was like this because Craig is retiring from the role which makes me a bit upset but still can't resist or imagine a more suitable ending.
I had the privilege to witness this movie at the movie theatre yesterday and I was willing to watch two movies, however after watching it for nearly 3hrs, I felt satisfied and not in need to watch a second one. It was on of the best cinematic experiences for me as someone who goes to movie theatres regularly. I would have give it a 10/10 but a solid 9.5/10 isn't much difference. I beg you not to miss this one.
Nobody (2021)
John Wick Vol.2!
For John Wick lovers, It's that kind of movies that you don't wanna miss. The movie is creative and only concentrating on giving us a pack of action that you rarely witness in any other movie. Overrated at points and maybe even unrealistic at other points, but damn these action scenes should be taught to every movie maker who wants to create a great action film. It's the mesmerizing one shot action sequences will keep you on the edge of your seat. From it's flaws that even though our protagonist is not invincible and gets beaten up, he still ignores the injuries to the level that you forget he got injured at first. You will also find good performance but not the best characters or the most powerful performances and the movie doesn't concentrate on anything rather than the protagonist, the antagonist, the action scenes, the great, cinematography along with a great score that you also might feel was overused at some points. To sum up, a great action packed creative movie that will keep you entertained. 8/10 Don't miss that one.
Jungle Cruise (2021)
I waited a whole year for this!!!!
Big disappointment!! The worst story ever. The worst cast. The worst acting. The worst editing. The worst movie I HAVE EVER SEEN in years If not the worst. Disney should give up producing more of this live action shit that never gonna impress anyone. I can't believe I was sad when it got delayed. 2/10 and I am being generous cause I was so bored that I only continued it out of respect for Emily's effort.
Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
Woooooow! I really missed going to the cinema!
Let begin by saying that any hate that the movie is getting is caused by what we all expected and have been suffering from in the past movies in this franchise, and that's is the "human part". By saying the human part I mean everything starting from the expected plot to the mediocre acting to the silly screenplay and the unnecessary scenes in this film. However you are watching the film to see Godzilla vs Kong and "that part is a little dramatic"😂. Its by far the best movie in the franchise. The VFX are just perfect and the plot going on with them is super exciting and actually great. You will come at points just saying wooow from the bottom of your heart for how great that turned out. The fight scenes with the city lights are just priceless. If you went to the cinema to see this film you won't regret a single penny of your money and will witness a great adventure. Also the movie used the score that is used in like tons of other movies when something epic is happening which might be annoying for the ones who expect a great score from every movie they see but yet it was unexpectedly the best fit for the fight scenes. I really hope you don't miss that movie at the theatre. 7.5/10.
Raya and the Last Dragon (2021)
After watching, I feel like we won't witness any great film by Disney again
A booring predictable colorful usual Disney film. Even it's one of the rarest times that I witness a Disney film featuring a score that is like the standard score that is used in a lot of mediocre films when any epic scene comes. Pretty much an overrated movie and might be one the worst Disney films ever. Also Raya is now on of the most boring Disney princesses that I have ever seen. Even The Last Dragon itself was kinda stupid. Don't recommend.
Logan (2017)
The Greatest X-Men film ever.
The theme of the film is quickly revealed from the very first scene that it's not like any of the previous X-Men movie as the R rating appears from the very first second and it actually introduced the X-Men universe to the reality dimension.
Acting :⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Everyone in this film was giving another level of performance that we weren't used to from the very same characters. Hugh Jackman did the best performance as Logan in his 17 year long performance and his best performance since his Oscar-nominated performance. The amount of pain and suffer that Logan and Charles went through over the years was expressed by Hugh and Sir. Patrick were priceless and their expressions could deliver a flow of mixed emotions that would hit every X-Men fan right in the heart.
Making her debut as X-23, the wonderful child Dafne Keen gave one of the most strong child performances ever that blow our mind and we wouldn't ask for a better representation for this character.
Score : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
By Marco Beltrami (who is also the composer of A Quiet place I and II) gave an intense, thrilling and powerful score that added to the greatness of each scene that will make you on the edge of the seat most of the time. The kind of soundtrack that gives you chills.
Cinematography : ⭐⭐⭐⭐½
By John Mathieson (who is also the cinematographer of Gladiator) was brilliant!! It makes you feel like you are right in the action especially the cars chasing scenes and the camera movements during it. Also the wide shots ( as in photo no. 4) was artistic as it could be. The lightning at some shots was just perfect making the shots at some points as a beautiful painting. The only flaw it had was the decision to shoot some fight scenes (especially the last one) in a single shot to emphasize the brutality and violence in them which the CGI didn't help in.
VFX : ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The visual effects were great but had obvious flops at critical points of the movie especially the last fight scene which was the grand finale of the whole movie which only the brutality, excitement and shock could save.
The plot : ⭐⭐⭐⭐½
The story is for sure strong and unique from the other X-Men films and the best among them. It's only enough that it introduced us to a new aspect of the whole X-Men universe and it's quite shocking and powerful events that just won't let you move your eyes of the screen, but it was quite predictable for how it's going to end and sometimes brought exaggerated violence which was at points unnecessary to keep us attracted.
Direction : ⭐⭐⭐⭐½
By the one and only James Mangold, who saved this franchise after the huge flop and disappointment the 1st film gave us. He made us worry whether this film is going to give Wolverine the ending he deserves or not especially that the 2nd film had mixed reactions but he did give us just the movie we were hoping for and even exceeded our expectations at certain points. Every shot of this film is well studied and artistic as it could possibly be creating the great atmosphere and the beauty that comes out of this brutal world making it an immortal film and one of the all time great. A great Job indeed.
A movie that will make you excited, entertained, cry and smile. One hell of a journey it has been.
Logan (2017) : ⭐⭐⭐⭐½
Favourite Quote : Charles Xavier: Logan, you still have time.
The Mandalorian: Chapter 16: The Rescue (2020)
Giving it a rating is sooo unfair!
It's the best ending anyone could hope for and truly the best series I had the privilege to witness. Nothing but pure joy, entertainment and most importantly pure art. It had the ability to carve it's love through my heart and settle on the throne of "my favourite series ever".
The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run (2020)
Worst Spongebob movie eveerrrr!!
I was really excited for this film and it's new animation style, but my god that's the worst story eveeeeer that is only full of nonsense literally. There were lots of scenes only to fill the gap between the beginning and ending and it was really really bad. It's very childish and the animation along with the story might be more appropriate for a video game and I even doubt it would be good. And Keanu for god's sake don't make me hate John Wick. The worst most unfunny role eveer. 1/10.
The Devil All the Time (2020)
Unorganized Insanity!
In short, great acting, horrible film, good ending, the end.
Goodfellas (1990)
Maybe it was great by then!
Actually I wasn't impressed by the film and that's rare for a Scorsese film that I watch. If the film was great like other 90s films, it would still be awesome now but it isn't. I didn't like Ray Liotta being the lead at all a very narrow actor who is not even that attractive in his performance even was melodramatic bat some points with Lorraine Bracco that made me feel annoyed at some points. On the other hand, the one and only Robert Den Niro didn't get the time he deserved in this film with his captivating performance and yet was able to make a remarkable performance though I didn't feel the story helped him much. Also Joe Pesci was great and powerful as If he was the heart of the film. But the story athoug it's good is predictable at some points with an average director from Scorsese which I began to notice at the stupid scene when Ray got into a fight with someone with his hands so obviously not hitting the other person's face and that person puts his hand covered with ketchup on his face to appear as If he was bleading which was a true dump scene. The score of the film helped much also but I give all the cause for not liking it is for the weak predictable story with the worst lead actor ever.
7/10
Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014)
Didn't get it!
So let me get this straight, another film whose director is "over-arting" to make every single shot as perfect as possible and keeping you confused between what is real and what is not, then telling you it's hallucinations then again with a simple reaction telling you it is not! Seriously I hate when directors and writers try to make an ambiguous film as hard as hard as they can cause what you don't get is for sure a smart one, right?! I can't deny how it's cinematography style is perfect and captivating along with the amazing performances by everybody (except Emma Stone who I don't really know whether she was nominated for being good or cause the year 2014 lacked good performances in this category being the least person with time on screen and also with emotions!) but that is just not good enough to save it's way of trying to be so much a film that you set as an example for movie making for those who want to learn, and don't get me wrong this style is not bad but it cannot be left with interpretation for what's happening at some points which I guess Christopher Nolan is the best director ever to do it with clearing the difficult things up at proper times of the movie and not leaving you with scenes that are like difficult verses of poems that not all people will get it. Some people loved it, others didn't but this time I am on the latter side with no reason for the ones who loved but they only like what they don't understand but still amazed by it's style of making but I give it a 7.5/10 .
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
Not a that smart movie!
I understood it from the very beginning and didn't need to watch it again. A unique story indeed but quite boring with trying to over smart the audience or in other words confuse them. Any smart movie should keep you attached and impress you with new flicks but that is not the case here. I wasn't attached to the story and it was boring with editing confusion nothing else. Disappointed. 2/10 for Kate's acting only and the whole idea of the story only.
The Sixth Sense (1999)
A sensational movie.
The film captivates you from the very few beginning minutes leaving you at complete shock then gradually interprets things on a simple but smart level through the great performances of both Bruce and the kid Haley. Also Toni Collete gave a great performance that I was happy to know she deserved a nomination for it. Also the scenes were filled with tense by the beautiful score and the direction of the great M. Night Shaymlan. Still there were some boring moments in the film but it doesn't ruin anything. Then the film gives you one of the best shocking ends ever. Regret that I haven't watched it all this time. 8/10
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009)
A bit disappointed!
I saw a trailer for the film and it's idea captivated me at once, however it's the only interesting thing in the film. I also can't get over the animation outside Disney and Pixar easily which made me wondering why they can make a wonderful animation of the food and incidents but can't make admirable animated characters. I really didn't like his father and what they did with his eyes as a comedy sort of thing and felt it was really disturbing or irritating. Also the animation of the rest of the characters isn't quite good for me. The incidents became overrated with no sense with a scientific cover to hide it's naiveness. Even the feelings between the characters wasn't good enough and didn't feel most of it and it's that kind of emotions that feel it's just a standard in any animation film that had to be in there fill the time of the film. I don't recommend it and you won't miss much 6/10
Lord of War (2005)
Nicolas "no emotions" cage!
The movie's only point of strength is it's attractive screenplay that fits each character perfectly. However it lacks almost any score, any acting from Nicholas (or I don't bear him) and lacks a good plot. The film's pace is so quick in how he grows fast in his weapons business suddenly you find him doing his first deal and then a bigger one ans another one without knowing how he could reach this phase and how he could reach it fast. Also Jared Leto gave a good performance his character was weak and literally a lot of things happens to him starts from the beginning that suddenly Nicholas (The narrator) tells us it happened and it ends in the next scene by Cage. Also a predictable story a bit with plot holes but a good direction indeed. 5.5/10
