The Neighborhood (2018)
Promising start with writers who have forgotten key points
I first found this show as it was midway through season 3.
I watched the first episode and was hooked, finding the show funny while pushing the boundaries of political correctness which in today's TV series is rare to find.
The show for the first 2 seasons was great, the third season showing a rocky start but partially redeeming itself by the end of the third season.
Once season 4 started it seemed to have a change of theme and the story seemed quite different to what it had originally intended to tell.
While the show is still enjoyable, it doesn't have the same feel as when it first started. Season 5 has had many writing flaws which conflict with the original theme of the show; from the smoker in the first episode (which Calvin had built himself - mentioned in the first episode) being used a lot and in the second to last episode aired they 'purchased the same model'.
Calvin has sold his garage after in the previous episodes trying to keep the community together and avoid change; which is a value he expresses regularly throughout seasons 1-current.
I understand shows need to adapt to keep up with themes in every day life, but the writers would do well to watch the first few seasons to try and bring the show back.
I'd hate to see a show get cancelled when it has so much potential to go on for a further 3-4 seasons.
Ghosts of War (2020)
Nice build up... with a cliffhanger?
I enjoyed the movie... as I enjoy most WW2 movies/shows. It was great up until he realises theres a bug in the program, goes back in and then.... that was it... its like the writers couldn't work out what to put next and had the movie finish.
If they don't plan on a sequel, the really should have made a better ending... i'm expecting a directors cut with the extra 30-40 minutes of footage this theatrical version offered...
