Jury Duty (2023)
The Idea that this guy is not in on it is ludicrous.
While this is a semi-entertaining and funny show, Ronald Gladden is obviously aware he is surrounded by actors and is being directed. Even if he is just a reality contestant, he is acting his role like all reality contestants do. This will probably be his big break, and I am sure we will see more roles from him in the future. It amazes me how and why the creators of this show have sold this as him being so unaware as it is obviously the opposite. It is an entertaining watch and the guy has some comedic talent, but this show is nothing groundbreaking. And the attempt to sell it as something it is not detracts a lot from the potential of what this could've been and that is a shame. This should be classified as a mockumentary more than anything else.
Would I Lie to You?: At Christmas (2019)
Sharon Osbourne is a monster
Osbourne's story was one of the most reprehensible things I've ever heard and she seems totally oblivious to it because she obviously considers people of other economic classes complete vermin. I guess when the rich never mix with the "riff-raff" and treat others like slaves every day of their lives, they never develop a sense of actual humanity.
Y: The Last Man: Ready. Aim. Fire. (2021)
I can't tell if it is the writing or the acting that is lacking.
This show is way too slow and boring to continually keep introducing one completely unlikeable, unreasonable and unbelievable character after another. They seem to want to put emotionally unstable characters into positions that don't fit and drag that out as long as possible while ignoring any advancement in the actual plot.
Annika: Episode #1.2 (2021)
I like this show but...
The speaking to the camera stuff is just not pleasant. It is a fad that died out 10 years ago and really doesn't feel like it belongs at all in this kind of show. I'd love to see another season of this show after this one without this gimmick.
Ted Lasso (2020)
I wish this got more press
This is my favorite comedy out now. Maybe ever. I'm 8 episodes in and it just keeps getting better. Smart, funny, positive, and it will teach you how to be a slightly better person. No one I know has heard of it and it doesn't seem to be getting that much attention and that is borderline criminal in my opinion.
Inside the NBA (1988)
Solidarity
Kenny Smith shows solidarity with the walkout/strike tonight. Always has been a great show. 10/10 every time.
Teenage Bounty Hunters (2020)
Kind of funny but thesatire is more realistsic than you'd guess
Funny and worth the watch but to be clear, the people around the main characters are shockingly accurate for something that is supposed to be exaggerated or possibly parodied. I grew up around people like this and while the show is attempting to poke fun at the racism and bigotry and just complete ignorance of all the secondary and tertiary characters, it is a lot more accurate than most would think or be willing to admit about life in a suburban, mostly, white, x-tian area in the south. Enjoyable show though overall.
BoJack Horseman: Free Churro (2018)
A Masterpiece
"Free Churro" is a masterpiece of animated television. I have never seen anything like this before. So well done. I haven't hung on to every word of a monologue for that long since, well I can't remember when. Just incredible. It is amazingly relatable and even felt personal to me in ways I can't put into words. Arnett delivers a flawless performance. Just wow.
Loudermilk (2017)
Possible potential, almost good
I like a lot of the aspects of this show and the bones of it. My biggest problems with Loudermilk have to do with the writing and the humor. The idea of the show is pretty good, but if you strip away the grittiness and the rough veneer you are left with a somewhat cookie- cutter situation comedy. This is not terrible but it is not great either. The humor and some of the acting seems really forced and obvious. Especially Loudermilk himself. He speaks and acts like he is drunk, even though he is the cleanest one on the show. I am not saying this show is bad. In fact, I believe that there is a lot of potential to grow and refine the characters and the humor. I will continue to watch it because it is a decent comedy as it is and hopefully it will come into its own by season's end. As of now I give it a 6/10 and reserve the right to raise my rating if the show progresses in the way I believe it can.
