I loved this show. Watched everything in a few months.
The first few seasons where the best, then it was all a bit less good. But not as much less good as most other shows, where shows just freefall in quality after the first season or 2-3.
Throughout the whole show I felt hungry. They are eating all the time. All that nice food. Most of it unhealthy take away. I think that sends the wrong message. You can not live on take-away food, do no excercise and stay as thin as these guys.
What particulary upset me is the continuous food waste! They hardly ever finish their plate of food. They just leave half and walk away.
In the last season Burt (the giant geology-guy) became more of a character in the show. Too late, in my opinion. Maybe if he'd been written in earlyer it might have changed the dynamic of the show and you know, some new blood to revive things. Burt rulez! Such a great character.
In most episodes there is a natural storyline. But some episodes you can just feel the writer struggling to come up with something new. I think its a shame that sometimes to facilitate that, the characters where forced to do some way out of character stuff. Like Sheldon welding on a train-engine. Obviouly Sheldon would never do anything of the sorts. That was such an anti-joke. And there are some more of those.
Some of the episodes where so bad I used as background while practising my rubic's cube skills. Just not worth my full attention.
That being said. I know lots of fans here hated the arrival of all the woman changing things from the first seasons. But I think they did a great job with the slow development of the characters and the passing of time. There are no less that 12 seasons! And you can see them getting somewhat older, so would be silly to try and keep them into youthfull nerd-world for all those years. (Althou there are probably plenty of nerds who have nothing happening in 12 years, no offence).
I think more attention could have been given to those relationships. What on earth does Amy see in Sheldon? Howard obviously gets his mother, but what could Bernie possibly get out of that relationship? And where it all started, Penny and whats-his-face. Maybe the writers could have deepend that out a little. Could actually have been quite funny.
Nice homes they all got! I'm moving house soon and was a bit stuck with which colours to paint the new house. I got plenty of inspiration from watching this show :)
