Redgrave and Dillane carry the film
15 August 2020
I was compelled to write this review because of the lead actress, Victoria Foyt. Her performance was absolutely terrible! It was so bad that it was distracting from the rest of the actors. Once she finally was silent, for a short amount of time, Stephen Dillane's and Vanessa Redgrave's brilliance could be seen. I must also say, once you get through some of the hokey "coincidences", there are some good parts to the movie. But Redgrave and Dillane carried it for sure. Foyt ruined it.

Haunting look at depression
13 June 2020
Do not watch this movie if you're depressed. It is VERY depressing. That being said, it is a great, low budget film with great dialogue. The actress really shines. It will stick with you.

Great slow-burn, supernatural film!
20 October 2019
I'm a big fan of supernatural films, especially slow-burning ones. Nowadays, a good one is very hard to find. The Dead Center does a terrific job with its script and direction by Billy Senese; Main actors, especially Shane Carruth and its overall production. It is a low-budget film, yes. However, it has substance. Isn't that what we're all watching for, anyway? Loved it!

Mary Elizabeth Winstead is Perfection.

An honest and moving film. Winstead is the heart of this performance. Do not miss it.

A true work of art; stunning and disturbing
1 May 2018
This is what a horror movie should be. I was disturbed. Unsettled. After the movie, the story and characters stayed with me for awhile. There was true heart and soul put into this into this entire film; the story, the characters, the cinematography, the direction. Every aspect of this movie was well planned and executed.

I highly recommend The Eyes of My Mother. It is definitely worth your time.

Winchester (2018)

Really...don't bother.
1 May 2018
I sometimes see movies that I know are going to bad, that have bad reviews, because I wanted to see them ever since I heard that they were coming out. That is what I did with Winchester. I was ecstatic when I saw an article that Helen Mirren was going to do this film! I love this genre, story and of course, Helen Mirren. Then the reviews....awful. Don't see it. Don't buy a ticket...all of them. Well, I waited until it came to ITunes. I watched it anyway. It was bad. Really bad. Ugh. I had hoped that maybe it would be like one of underrated movies I'd end up liking like Duets or Mallrats. No. Not at all. I gave the movie 4/10 for the acting. Helen Mirren is Helen Mirren...amazing at everything she does. Everyone else was good. The script was garbage, so the rest was doomed. There you have it.

For reference, some of my favorite horror movies are as follows: The Shining, Bram Stoker's Dracula,The Exorcist, Stir of Echoes, Dracula1931, A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, Goodnight Mommy, Insidious
