Talve (2020)
A sequiel that isn't a sequiel actually but a separate story
I was very curious for watching this movie after seen the three prequiels "Kevade", "Suvi" and "Sügis". Yesterday, I watched it. After ten first minutes, I was hoping the content to get going. After an hour I was still hoping that the movie would became interesting soon. After the end, I had a feeling that I hadn't seen the movie at all. Why did I have this feeling?
All the prequiels had a main character: "Kevade" had Arno Tali, "Suvi" had Joosep Toots, "Sügis" had Jorh Aadniel Kiir. "Talve" didn't have a main character or the main character was oskar. However, the main characters of prequiels were all apparent in the first part "Kevade", oskar wasn't. This makes "Talve" awkward.
All the prequiels were well-connected to each one. "Kevade" showed pupils, "Suvi" as they were about to create families, "Sügis" as well, and I had expected to see how they spend their elderly days in "Talve". This isn't the case. Some reappearing characters are there though however their part is very small: Teele just appears for some scenes, Imelik appears for only one scene, Lesta plays a small role as a pharmaceut (Oskar Luts was also a pharmaceut). Margus Lepa plays his role as manipulating Jorh Aadniel Kiir very well however his role feels very small in comparison to prequiels. Someone else mentioned already that many characters from preqiels are missing. They tell that Tõnisson went to Sweden and at the end, we can recognize that Arno Tali was dead. Tõnisson would've been the main character for this movie. Or Lesta who didn't get much credit before. Instead of showing the elderly life of the main characters from "Kevade", the author concentrated on children and other new characters that weren't even mentioned before. Teele was the wife of Joosep, right? And Joosep was from Ülesoo. However in "Talve", Teele appears to be of Raja again. Some actors are dead. Some live. How much effort did Ergo Kuld give to get all the possible actors back to "Talve" to make a grand finale? I think that he didn't put enough energy in it. For instance, it would be interesting to see the mother of Arno Tali once again, even for a moment. The actress still lives on Earth.
New characters are still enjoyable however one must comprehend that they don't belong. Maybe Arnold belongs but none of the others as they don't seem to be related to prequiels as seen previously.
The prequiels were all very enjoyable. The last prequiel "Sügis" was made in my time on Earth. I remember going to cinema with the mother of my body to see it. They covered a relatively long timeframe or I just have this feeling. I feel that a lot was happening in them. Funny moments they had. "Talve" has no funny moments at all. The supposedly funny moments are like kicking someone's ass. I didn't laugh a single time during watching "Talve".
All the prequiels were made by Arvo Kruusement. Maybe he's too old for making yet another movie however it's not good to switch the regisseur before the end has been reached. Ergo Kuld and margus algus are famous for their series: "Ühikarotid", "Kalevipojad", "Ment", "Reetur". I get that Ergo wanted to make a start in the movie industry however he could've started with his own topic not a sequiel to a famous movie series. They just can't make a movie. "Talve" feels like the first episode of a series. And there's no second episode which makes the situation awful. We could argue that what if they didn't change Oskar Luts's content and the reason for this crap was the author of the belletristic himself. However we have no proof that there are more than four pages of the original author publicized at all. This makes me suspect that martin algus invented most of "Talve". Setting the weight on new characters isn't a good approach for a grand finale. The final part must conclude everything not create a new story. It would've been nice to see some recalls from prequiels at least as we saw in "Sügis". None of this happened.
This all makes "Talve" in comparison to "Star Wars" a "Star Wars" movie not "Star Wars" itself if spoken allegorically.
I propose that someone powerful could do a remake for "Talve" with the real content that suits to all the prequiels. This version of "Talve" is like laughing at the trilogy.
I would rate this movie to at least "5" if it would be just a movie itself. This movie though refers to its prequiels and therefore, I can't rate more than "0". All or nothing. This one's rather nothing. If margus algus and Ergo Kuld were my pupils, I'd request them to redo the task.
The Rain (2018)
A prequiel to X-Men?
I'm writing this between the seasons two and three. I don't want to make a long story, so here are my five cents.
The story is so interesting that it seldom makes me feel bored. The apocalyptic world reminds me on The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead however these two series were interesting in first seasons but the more they progress the more they just keep talking and there's less happening. The Rain however has only a few talking and there's always happening something. Of course, these were just the first seasons.
What I see after the season two is that it could be like a prequiel two X-Men because it shows how some abilities are being developed.
I'm wondering how many times has Simone said "Rasmus".
Some moves of people irritate me but then I think how good the actors are to play these stupid moves out so well!
Somebody has recommended to watch Dark instead. I've done that. There's nothing more to watch as Dark has come to an end. Dark can't be compared to The Rain as the topics are very different. Dark can be compared to 12 Monkeys and Dark beats 12 Monkeys having more explanations.
In the last days, there has been a lot of heavy rainfalls here. And my tonsils are hurting for the sixth day in the row. I'm not dead yet. So my body becomes stronger, stronger than the rain.
Annihilation (2018)
A movie making the watcher think about our behaviour
This is yet another movie with violence although it was possible to solve the main problem with goodness. The thing learnt but the human didn't. If a human has a fear they become irrational. After some moves, it was clear that there was a mirror. We see in the mirror what we want to see. It reflects our life to us. If we attack it, it attacks back. If we hug it, it hugs back. If we start loving it, it starts loving us back. Therefore, this movie could be a great teaching source for young parents. Children learn from their parents. What do they learn? Could violence disappear from our world if we stopped using it? Can we replicate love?
I enjoyed this movie. I couldn't stop watching it before it reached the end. I would look forward for a sequiel. I can imagine that if a sequiel would be made and love would've been replicated in it, that could be a Disney movie.
Hacker (2016)
enjoyable as entertainment but not as a computer movie
After looking for the movie Algorithm, i found another movie called Algorithm 2. i was surprised that there was a second part and set my expectations high. Later i discovered that it wasn't the second part of Algorithm but a separate movie called Hacker.
Although the big message is the same as in Algorithm, Hacker lacks on minor messages. And it lacks hacking. i think the producer has made the main point clear to me: don't mess with professionals unless u r one. u never know when and where u make a mistake and then they r after u. Playing professionals need years of experiences. If u want to run a marathon and compete with Kenyans and u r not trained then maybe u run the first kilometer and r wasted. Trying to play tennis against a pro as an amateur means not winning a single game — the odds r not with an amateur.
There is another message which is similar to the one of Algorithm but stated differently: If u want to change the world then steal enough currency and create a chaos with it because the one who owns the currency makes the rules. Although the real gangsters behind the currency system can't create new currency anymore they still have power because about ninety percent of world's population accept them as gods. They r dying out slowly and we can wait. Or we can act. But if we act then we can't use their tools because they r better on them. we have to use our own tools.
In the movie, one more point was made clear: weak men can be easily defeated by strong women. Once u start hacking something or someone, be very careful! u r being watched whether u know it or not or whether they know your intention or not. There r cameras everywhere. Every ATM has a camera and the characters in the movie didn't even cover their faces! And they were not discovered. Wasn't at least this suspicious?
The main character alex wants to use a tool that carries negative energy within — payback. Payback is continuation of violence in a violence vortex. If u want to stop violence then u don't pay back but stop it. One is only allowed to use violence while protecting themselves. In the movie, it wasn't about defense.
i don't want to spoil the ending so u can find it out on your own whether it will be left open or finite, whether they all die or not, whether they return to canonical world or go on with creating a better world.
Overall this movie is enjoyable. It is exciting and doesn't assume as much understanding of computer science than Algorithm. The story is linear and easy to follow. Characters r played well. Would i recommend it? As entertainment — yes, as a computer movie — no.
