Once the chracters get to the island, the film picks up considerably. It's also pretty clever with how it develops It's chracters.

Everything from pacing, and comedic timing adds up to one hell of a punch line. Somehow the episode contrasts from a typical episode, to one that is so skillfully planned. Just about everything that occurs has some sort of payoff.

This is the kind of Low budget horror I adore. It's designed to make you think, while simultaneously letting you appreciate the technical level its filmed on. An Eerie piece of filmmaking that's inspiring for its uniqueness, and a quality that compasses the unknown.

One of James Wan's Best!

It Utilized its characters well. It uses torture porn to describe Humanity's selfishness, and selflessness in an "Under the microscope fashion". What you get is a mind bender, with good old fadhion scares to tell a unique story.
It's a laugh riot.

Some of it is good, the rest not.

The mythology is lost in this film. The style is too campy. There are signs of pacing issues early on, that continue as the film becomes more increasingly dopey. If it's not trying to be like the games, it commits to the mediocrity of not knowing what it is. It's entertaining atleast, but still doesn't satisfy being a whole film.
It's dreadful.

There is a lack of Color in this film, and it suffers from that. The set pieces are early 2000's. The Writing doesn't comit to dopey fun, because the actors take it seriously. The last lingering taste is ugly, and uninspired from its original source material. This is a film to avoid, none of it is entertaining.

An Easy film to bomb.

It's a tonal inconsistency of being a real film, and being a low rent sci-fi channel extravaganza. I think it's the production that makes this film feel campy, and the dialogue. I appreciate the glimpses of John Carter's backstory, it gives the film some meat on its bones. Ultimately it leans towards boredom once it's underdeveloped world comes to light.
The Sorcerer's Apprentice

It's a Real Cheesy, and less magical thrill ride.

The film produces some exciting scenes, even those feel too T. V. oriented. In fact this whole film feels too safe, and non edgy. Jay Burachel trys to act his way through a choppy script. Nicholas Cage even feels boring. It needs a re-write, and ditch the comedic approach it develops.
