The Underdoggs (2024)
Funny and definitely not a kids movie
Not kid friendly even though it's starring hella kids. I've seen Snoop in a bunch of movies and this is the first time I've seen him play lead, and I thought he did a great job. Some cursing at the kids actually made my husband and I laugh out loud as it's so ridiculous. It's supposed to be a comedy, we laughed a lot, so it did the job. I'm a parent and I didn't find this offensive as I knew what to expect from someone like Snoop. Just watch it and please do have expectations of it being a comedy for adults, so you won't be shocked or disappointed. The delivery of their lines went so smoothly, how can you not crack up?
This Is Me... Now: A Love Story (2024)
THIS IS NOT A MOVIE, DUH!
The biggest mistake would be to assume that this is a movie. IT'S NOT. It's a visual musical experience about her latest album. She's telling the story of her songs as it's all related. It's not just random singles... they're a cohesive collection of stories done with music. Get it now? I'm giving it a 9 coz I wanted to see Ben as Ben, not as that disguised tv guy. I was also delighted to see a bunch of familiar faces whom I didn't expect like Sophia Vergara and Neil Degrass Tyson. Also, I kinda wished she used fan favorites of World Of Dance to be a part of this, dancing with her in many of those scenes. Maybe some are? Just didn't recognize any.
The Last of Us (2023)
Hoping for better
I give it a 6 because of Pascal (he makes everything better somehow) but this felt more like a Walking Dead spinoff. Didn't feel like it had the budget it had, but of course, it's just one episode in and I'm hoping things will change and get better. Never played the video game so I can't be biased. Just stating my opinion as a viewer who loves post apocalyptic themed shows/movies. Just hoping it can give us something different from TWD. I liked Bella in GOT but wasn't charmed by her in this show. Maybe a few more episodes before I can start appreciating the story, but pilots are just so darn crucial.
Willow (2022)
My childhood ruined
I'm giving it a five just coz of the memories and the original cast in it, but I feel like the producers or show runners didn't even bother to watch the original. How'd this become a teen rom-com?? And the costume designer ought to be spanked. I saw cowgirls in denim at one point. So out of touch as what this movie was about. Did George Lucas have a say in this? What a complete downer. I wish they'd redo the whole thing. Or is Disney just desperately churning out whatever they could find so they have content in Disney Plus? The actress who played Elora was pretty thou. Would love to see her in more things.
Thunder Force (2021)
Background movie
A lot of predictable parts. Gotta say, not sure if Octavia is built for comedy (excellent in drama though), or maybe Melissa is just too good at it that she gets outshined. Jason Bateman might have been a better fit as Melissa's Thunder Force partner. Anyway, movie could've been better. Ok to play in the background. Too hyped up that it ended up disappointing, like Bright.
Ever After (1998)
Bravo to the scriptwriter!
I saw this when it was released in the theaters late 90's. Ended up watching it over and over again. The dialogue is so witty, smart, engaging... I memorized so many lines and have quoted them in real life. "How can anyone love a pebble in their shoe?" "You're trying to beat me with your snobbery." "You were born into privilege and with that comes specific obligations." "Do not speak unless you can improve the silence." "Nothing is final until you're dead and even then I'm sure god negotiates."
Amusing how they fit DaVinci into the story as the sort of fairy godfather. Drew Barrymore was impressive in this period film and Anjelica... best evil stepmom ever! Yes, it's been one of my top 3 favorite films of all time. Plus, Texas has a song in the end credits. :)
Ready or Not (2019)
It's supposed to be fun
If you didn't have fun watching this movie, then you're looking at it the wrong way. It's supposed to be silly. For horror/thriller/B-movie fans, this was a gold mine. The concept was refreshing. If you're not smiling at the end of the movie, then this genre isn't for you.
