Hotaru no haka (1988)
No man, I'm sorry
Really? No matter how bad her aunt was and she was right only she didn't said it nicely. When her sister life was in danger, any human being would have gone back or at least leave her there. Even more when he found out the obvious fact that his father was dead.
It's not technically bad it just doesn't make sense. If this wasn't a Ghibli movie it wouldn't have more than a 6.
It clearly wasn't made by Miyazaki, but it's not a bad movie it just dosen't make sense. Ok you can stop reading now it's just that now IMDb reviews have to be 600 words long, so it's hard to make a good movie it's harder to make a good movie with a hard ending.
Pain & Gain (2013)
Based on a true story, unfortunately
It was hard to watch, because despite the weird choices they made, it's extremely real.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)
It's not because is political, it's just bad
It doesn't connect well... basically it makes every mistake in storytelling. Man better watch episode 21 from the first season of home improvement that is way better and has more depth than whoever did this mini series could ever dream of.
Hillbilly Elegy (2020)
It took me 3 weeks to watch it
It's actually pretty good though. I put it an 8 not more because it's 2 hours long and it only starts to be good in the last 20 minutes. It is without a doubt too long, but still, no matter how slow, it is worth it.
When finally Glenn close stars to take action, and so does the protagonist in the hotel, is when you finally see what was all about. And it suddenly becomes a great movie.
It might be set on a hillbilly place, but if you take out the drugs, light people on fire, teenage pregnancy and take only what those represent, what causes them, and it really is the most accurate depiction of today's generations that I've seen.
Gisaengchung (2019)
PRESENTATION VS "GOOD" CONTENT
First I must admit Bong Joon Ho is a good director and writer. And Parasite is technically not bad at all.
However when watching a movie, it is quite rewarding to find some constructive citicism and good morals and principles. Well, in Parasite all you see is a man criticize at the way society works, with its undeniable flaws but, in the most destructive way I have ever seen. As he purposely doesn't leave room for good as he does for evil.
As Frank Capra said 90 years ago: "all cried: Emancipate our films from morality... Kill for thrill-shock! Shock! To hell with the good in man"
That is why to me "It´s a wonderful life", "Up", "Lord of the rings", "Jojo rabbit", "Lemans 66", "Ordinary people"... while thay may be technically worse movies than parasite, are a whole universe better than what Bong Joon Ho could ever dream.
Primal Fear (1996)
Extremely hard to watch, but this things do happen (thank God not usually)
I have never seen true evil shown better in any movie. It is shown even on characters who are supposed to be good. The problem with this movie is that it doesn't show that much of Good as well. I'm studying Law, I can tell you this is scary accurate, but because of the lack of a really good person in the movie, we get the last shot.
The Loudest Voice (2019)
This is the real deal
This show gives us a look into the republican thinking as I never thought, even could have, imagined. I am a republican, I don't know how democrats react to this, but I can tell you is not at all propaganda. And it doesn't say "look! republicans, they're dumb. And crazy", it says "be a republican if you want to, that's all right, but beware of this". I could really see in Rogers an evil, more talented and intelligent version of myself. I'm sure not all republicans, but it certainly did to me.
HOWEVER, I must warn you, I'm pretty sure this is the hardest thing I have ever watched on TV or the big screen. As you know he was the Weinstein of the news. I'll tell you to watch it but because of her extremely bully behaviour, at least to me, maybe because it really affects me personally, it's hard. Very hard. But so is the truth sometimes isn't?
IMDb on the Scene - Interviews: Bumblebee (2018)
I really liked it
They do humanise the transformers saga, it's quite simple though. But I think it should be called "Charlie Wattson, and yeah bumblebee is around".
Anyway I wasn't interested in bumblebee as the protagonist, so it's a great movie for me.
