American Horror Story: Requiem 1981/1987: Part 2 (2022)
The REAL American Horror Story
Snowflakes will complain that an openly gay creator is using his platform to make people uncomfortable with the fact that AIDS was the real killer of the 80's and 90's.
It was tastefully done. It was poignant and sad to watch.
"That story doesn't need to be featured in American Horror Story".
That story was an actual American Horror Story.
If you're uncomfortable watching it. That's a you problem. This actually happened. Hundreds of thousands died at the hands of a disease that the government branded as "the gay cancer" or "the gay plague". The Regans sat back and watched as hundreds of thousands died because of this disease and was buried in mass graves.
Scream VI (2023)
Slice and dice...
I actually LOVED Scream 5 and the birth of a whole new saga of the franchise. Scream 6 lives up to the hype it's been getting. It doesn't take itself seriously, there's lots of humour and it's a wild ride.
Of course it has it flaws, but those are forgiven for the movie which is just good fun. I will say, I thought I would miss Ms Prescott, but I actually didn't. That being said, I hope she is paid what she is deserving for any potential sequels that she may pop up in!
Whilst it was fun that Kirby came back, this is one of the flaws I mentioned earlier. I think the story itself could've stood on its own right without her return, or her story itself could maybe be different.
Bring on Scream 7!
Nighty Night (2004)
Niche, dark and hilarious...
This is one of my favourite programmes to ever grace the BBC - it's so funny and I still often quote it to this day!
It's so awkward, darkly disturbing in parts and sometimes uncomfortable to watch... but I wouldn't have it any other way...
Sorry Jill...
Mood (2022)
Great, gritty... plus catchy music
Spotolmy or whatever they're called clearly hasn't watched a moment of this. Stuck in their "angry white person" mood and clearly bothered about POC being on TV, so is therefore trying to generalise and stereotype. There is literally nothing "woke" about this TV show, nor is there anything to do with gangs.
It's about a girl who wants to make it in the music industry and falls into the darker side of being a social media influencer.
It was a really good watch.
Ghost Stories (2017)
If you have the chance, see the play!
I have been fortunate enough to see the play of Ghost Stories a handful of times. It's hella good fun. When I heard that a movie version was coming, I was excited to see how it was going to transition to the big screen but although some of the comedic elements were missed in the movie, it was still a great movie.
People take this kind of genre "too seriously" and expect an Oscar winner.
Just watch it, with friends, in a darkened room. Have a giggle and whatever you do... don't spoil it for anyone ;)
Four Lives (2022)
Must See
Harrowing. Horrible. Infuriating. Sad. Brilliantly acted by all but especially Sheridan and Stephen. Never actually seen Stephen in a more serious role and he ran with it. His portrayal was chilling and made for uncomfortable viewing.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021)
This was the movie adaptation I wanted!!!
Brilliantly done, made me want to dig out my PS1 and play the OG first two games again!
Don't take it seriously, it wasn't ever going to win an Oscar!! But it's a fun popcorn movie! Lots of jumpscares, gore and sexy guy Candy to oogle!!
I hope they carry on with more sequels that are a bit more true to the OG games!!
Tales of Halloween (2015)
A bit of silly fun!
Don't take it seriously, it's probably the kind of movie you could sit with like 10-12 year olds that want to watch a "scary movie" on Halloween!
Enjoy it for the corniness. Don't go in expecting an Oscar winner....
The I-Land (2019)
Like a Long, Bad Black Mirror Story
Shockingly acted, an overdone unoriginal storyline. Unlikeable characters that are basically just pointless.
Watch at your own peril, but don't say you wasn't warned!
Crawl (2019)
Corny, but fun!
It's overall a fun movie that will have you jumping out of your skin, but will then probably make you laugh for jumping at it... it's not gonna win the Oscars, but it's deffo worth the look!
Secret Obsession (2019)
Awful...
Too many plot holes, awful acting... just very disappointed...
Annabelle Comes Home (2019)
Don't Listen to the Negative Nancy's
Just been to see this and it was a lot of fun! Like a traditional, spooky haunted house movie that actually had a bit of a "goosebumps" feel to it. There were some good jump-scares, one of which made me and everyone else in the cinema scream - it's never going to win an award... just go and enjoy it for what it is.
Blinded by the Light (2019)
Heartwarming and funny!
Blinded by the Light is just brilliant! It's so heartwarming, heartbreaking and funny all at the same time! I laughed, cried and really tried hard to not sing along! Sure, it's corny in parts but it adds to the magic of it. It's never gonna win an Oscar, but it's a deffo feel-good movie that will literally have you smiling from ear to ear!
Child's Play (2019)
Fun, funny and fast-paced!
Child's Play (2019) was really good to be fair! Hilarious "animatronics" like in the original, shocking OTT gore, comedy.... everything you want in a movie about a killer doll! Don't go in comparing it to the original, just enjoy the little nods to it! Hamill makes Chucky feel more creepy, Plaza can do no wrong anyway in my eyes... all the cast were solid in all honesty!
Black Summer (2019)
Ignore the bad reviews. TWD comparers get a grip!
A brilliant 8 part mini-series. Like 20-40 min per episode, each episode split into sections.
I love the walking dead, just as much as anyone. But there is a clear difference. Black Summer is in its own league. For starters, each episode gets more and more gripping, plus made me jump quite a few times as well. Something about zombies that run give me the heebie jeebies.
Also, if you judge whether to watch a show because of a couple of good/bad reviews... have a word with yourself. Make up your own mind.
Dynasty (2017)
Camp, trashy and FABULOUS!!!!
I am a HUGE fan of the original Dynasty with the whopping shoulder pads and fountain cat fights, so when this popped up on my Netflix, initially I was annoyed! "How could they do a remake of something so fabulous!!" - then, curiousness got the better of me and I watched it. Holy sh*tballs!! It's brilliant!! It's so camp and trashy just like the original, but I LIVE for the drama and trust me, as a huge telly addict, you won't be disappointed in this!
The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018)
Awesome!
This movie was a lot of fun! I was a bit apprehensive as it's been a good 10 years since the original movie was released. But, that being said, it was great! It was tense, with some jumpy scares and gore. Everything you want in a slasher movie! Plus, it has a great campy 80's soundtrack! The whole movie had a feel in fact of the old slasher moviea of the 70's and 80's
