The Simpsons: Boyz N the Highlands (2022)
Not Just for Fans
Even a person who never watched The Simpsons before, would enjoy greatly this one, even without knowing the characters as well as the regulars.
This episode is a truly rare pearl in a sea of bad episodes. I don't know how about others, but for me somewhere in the early 00's - The Simpsons stopped being my most favorite cartoon time and became just another one.
This episode reminds me of the good days, when you weren't sure you would end up disappointed after watching a new episode.
Bart is being Bart which is ALWAYS GOOD, but the real surprise is Martin, who gets darker just in the (very) unexpected good way.
Even Lisa's interaction with Marge and Homer was fun. Lately on the Simpsons, the side story is usually dull and the humor is dry, but this episode is almost-perfect, and certainly worth watching with a big smile.
Flatliners (2017)
The better one
As a horror-films lover, I have watched both version of this film.
The 1990 film was trying very hard, maybe even too hard, to be kind of a gothic-horror film. The filming locations, the background, the stories.
But it did not have much of a success, in my opinion. All in all, the result was a film with A-class actors who presented B-class acting with a C-level story.
There were hardly any details to make that movie interesting or worth keep watching, not to mention scary.
But the 2015 version makers seem to learn from all those mistakes.
They made a modern film which filmed like a modern one, with personal interesting stories, about a pack of young people who want so badly to become good doctors, but learn that they have to be decent human beings first, and not in the easy way.
Unusual story, that succeeds to keep the viewer intirgued, scared and enjoying-themselves all at the same time.
Give it a try. Even though it might seem like a bad movie at first, it is one that worth your while.
Dare (2009)
Dare 2009
A semi sad semi funny story about a lonely confused adolescent boy who just wants someone to take care of him and love him and does not truly care who they are as long as he's noticed for who he really is. Plus another teenage boy and a girl who just want someone to love and call their own, someone who would make them feel right mostly because they feel so wrong about everything.
Not another high school story but rather an earnest film about three young people who still don't know who they are but willing to do everything possible to find out the answer.
A unique film for everyone who likes watching friendship movies, or relates with the unpopular ones or just isn't sure about themselves either and would like to spend 90 minutes give or take of their lives watching others trying to figure out some real truth about themselves. .
Not an easily-forgotten film.
What's Your Number? (2011)
Fun
Just a fun-fun-fun movie about a girl looking for her one, not in the usual way, and a boy finding his one without even looking for.
Anna Faris gives an excellent performance, and I have never known before that Chris Evans can be not the nice guy for once.
Although the plot may be a bit unrealistic, the acting is so great you forget it's just a movie and get sucked right into a pure fun, that kind of fun that leaves you in a good mood for at least half a day/evening.
SO NOT just another rom-com. You'd better give it a try if profanity is something you can live with!
