Jane Eyre (2011)
I'm a little disappointed
Jane Eyre is my favorite book. And this in mind I had high expectations for the movie. And I think this movie was only made for readers. As I think non readers would probably not understand Jane to the deepest and Rochester too.
*And I know how movie adaptations mostly skip so many parts due to duration of the movie. And probably this version of Jane Eyre was the one of the most royal movies that is to the original book plot. I only wish it didn't spare the inner thoughts of Jane from the audience. Since the book was first narrative, what is beautiful about it was, readers could feel everything along with Jane. But in movie all we see was a thoughtful Jane looking thoughtful during important moments. I was keep thinking what she thought in the book so it wouldn't be meaningless. As I'm saying non readers wouldn't understand her since they didn't get to know her. And Jane was certainly a wise person with her special way of talk which we didn't get to see much in the movie.
But hey don't get me wrong. I still give this movie 8 stars. I know it could be way worse like some other book adaptations.
In book I mostly fell in love with the two, Jane and Edward, because of their conversation. How it felt so realistic, and genuine or interesting... but in the movie they only showed them talking for one or two scene.
*I think Mia and Fassbender, did a great job though. And I don't think Fassbender was too handsome for Rochester as some other do. I think he truly fit the role (except he was supposed to be dark haired and black eyed person but I'm taking about the charisma)
*the visuals of the movie was beautifully done. In fact I was expecting it to be a bit darker. Which some scenes were supposed to be taken at evening but they were at noon very sunny totally ruining the mystery of the scene. But anyways music fit well too.
On wish it was just a bit longer with more details, it feels like it missed so much emotion.
Hala (2019)
From a muslim hijabi girl's point of view..
After I watched the trailer I sort of expected what this movie would be but wanted to see it anyway, since there aren't many movies with hijabi girl lead. And it was worse than what I expected.
To be clear it started well. Her liking a white boy was okay, unlike the other viewers I didn't get annoyed with that. That's normal considering she is living in the USA. But I was expecting it to be a sweet romance as it started. They made her the bad girl, dumping him like it was nothing.. and then trying to have something with her teacher. Like seriously?? What was that even?? It was out of context. And the way she acted after troubling his career. I hated her.
At least I'm glad they didn't make her end up with the white boy in the end. Because it would be a shame for the boy. Since he did nothing wrong.
As for my point of view. I am not telling that this is an unrealistic story. I know many people especially teenagers struggling... having a hard time because of their family forcing them on religion. And that's the worst. But I think it was not the case in this movie. What they did was not different from what any other parent would do. (except the arranged marriage part. And actually, her mother later said that she was free to do what she wants about the matter.) So what was all the anger about??? Her father? He was the problem one here.
What I'm trying to say is... there are way too worse parents out there. Clearly, She had an understanding mother. So I didn't understand why she acted like it was the religion suppressing her, and limiting her from what she wanted to do. It was her problematic father... So I didn't get why they portrayed the ending as the taking of the hijab was the solution for all of her problems. I'm not saying that she shouldn't take it off. On the contrary, I'm saying that no one should wear it if they don't feel like it. Because what's the point of doing something reluctantly.
I wish this movie was about the real struggles of a hijabi girl like everyone needs it. Not a weird grumpy girl, letting down the people who cares about her, and trying to ruin a man's career by acting so thoughtlessly. And blaming the hijab for everything in the end.
The Time Traveler's Wife (2009)
A calm movie with not so well time travel concept
This movie had a pretty calm pace. I expected more since even the title said it is about time travel.
I gave it 7 because it was a good movie. Especially Adams! I like her. But I would choose About Time over this one. It was much more exciting.
In this movie, they poorly used the time travel concept. In most of the travels, he barely did anything. We just saw him try to steal clothe, and as he wears them he disappears.... What is the point of this?
And also I get the paradox concept of time travel. We saw it in other movies... Sorry but suddenly appearing in front of your future wife's 6-year-old self sounds quite wrong to me. Okay, she is your age in the future, but the same could happen to her daughter as well. What if he mistakenly went to her daughter and made her fall in love with him thinking she is the wife.. Ughh.
#Saraitda (2020)
Started good, ended meh
Actually the first part of the movie was surprisingly good. It had a different aspect on this zombie movies. We always see a bigger part of the influence of zombies in movies. Therefore showing only one person trapped in an apartment was interesting.
But the second half especially after they meet with each other and this creepy dude trap them, movie want downhill. The ending was rushed.
Inception (2010)
Seen on Imax
I've seen Inception several times before. But didn't have the chance to see it on theater back in time.
Yesterday thanks to 10th year anniversary, I've seen it on Imax! And it was fantastic!
Seeing it on Imax was totally different experience. Wish they do this more often.
Outer Banks (2020)
Much better than popular teen dramas
Outer banks is something we don't see often. It has some flows. But generally it's a rare piece. Nowadays all of the teen dramas are either too stupid, or all of the so called 'teen's are pretending to be anything but a teenager.
Though, I wish they were not 16 in this series. Because obviously he looks like a man. So it's quite hard to imagine him as a 16 year old boy.
For me the best character was JJ.
Project Power (2020)
It's a Netflix movie
This is a Netflix movie. And Netflix is a platform for you to watch something in your home to have a nice time. You can't expect it to be everything at once. You literally watch it from your couch in your living room.
So I don't get it when people keep complaining about Netflix movies. It's a Netflix movie for a reason. I don't think Netflix producers are trying to make a big hit with movies like this. They just want people to have 2 good hours.
This movie was something I was looking for, after coming home from work.. that I could watch to forget the daily stress and enjoy the visual feast.
American Animals (2018)
Misleading title, interesting movie
"American Animals" is quite misleading in my opinion. I thought it was more wild for some reason. But movie was about a teenage robbery surprisingly.
The movie started slow but gained speed through the end. So you should be patient. But editing was really entertaining.
Unlike other reviewers i liked real characters being in the movie. Otherwise it could feel shallow, and made up...
And also acting of the lead cast was great and kept me up.
To All the Boys I've Loved Before (2018)
Really Disappointed!!!
I was waiting this movie, since i enjoyed the book for real especially 1st book.
But the movie was such a disappointment.
First of all who decided to remove all of the Josh vs Peter parts... Lara didnt even like Josh in movie. I am so pissed offff.
And also everything was so shallow. And obviously what they did with this movie is changing the plot of the books.
ALSO considering movie itself as a MOVIE only (I mean if you pretend books dont exist.) it doesnt have much to watch. Nothing serious happened. Events just jumped from one to other so fast.
And seing everyone enjoyed movie, i dont understand how...
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
lot better than i expected!!
After reading reviews I thought that it will be bad. But it was not! I really liked the movie. I don't understand why people never appreciate anything at all.
There is no need to compare this movie with previous trilogies. C'mon! we all know that nothing will be the same. People have to get rid of their biases.
If you really want to compare, just see how visual aspects had improved.
And also I think the last jedi is even better that force awakens.
Chung Hing sam lam (1994)
Lovely movie for a lonely day
This movie is beautiful. But since I didn't know the exact story(I don't like to read plots) I kept waiting till the and for the policeman 223. Because I liked his story more. It was so sad that I wish it was not left half finished. And again since I didn't know the plot I taught Faye was the blonde haired girl. Which was my mistake. I watched the whole movie saying "How come those girls are same? They might look similar but she is such a high spirited now, besides how dangerous and a bad woman she was at first." Ugh! I think this happened because I wasn't used to Wong Kar Wai's movie style. So should watch again, knowing that this is a very different movie this time.
