1923: The War Has Come Home (2022)
Uneven & weak writing in this episode
My rating for the series overall will probably be much higher, but the writing for this episode was very lazy.
Any scene that involved action in this episode was full of impossible, improbably physics defying events.
Writing about hunting that seems to be written by someone who has never seen, handled or fired a weapons, and certainly never hunted.
The "cheesecake" somehow has access to a never ending supply of sexy lingerie in the wilds of Africa, in 1923. Uh-huh. Okay.
Cowboys, who never need, never use shovels while out with the herd, show up and provide half a dozen shovels, out of nowhere, when they are unexpectedly needed.
Again, this concerns this episode, and generally I don't find much to nit-pick in Yellowstone series'
Night Court (2023)
Scripts are awful
I have liked John Laroquete since the original version of this show and was happy to see him back in a regular series.
Sadly the scripts are SO bad, unrealistic, juvenile, strained in every way.
Larroquette's character is the only, sort of, realistic one. The others, even the return of Roz are annoying, boring, pathetic caricatures of diverse humans.
Roz's character is the token gay, but she is engaged to a woman 50 years her junior, it's just awkward and unbelievable.
Harry Stones daughter, the judge in the show, is a whiny, pathetic loser and not a character that viewers can really care about.
Reacher (2022)
Season 2 Writing is Sloppy
With every episode os Season 2, the writing gets worse.
Characters are stereotypical and flat.
Dialogue is trite, predictable.
The action sequences aren't even a little bit plausible, and are made worse by the inconsistencies in how the characters behave.
The most unrealistic, unbelievable scenes are the ones involving flashbacks to characters time in the US Army. Male characters are in uniform, in garrison, unshaved. None of the actions or plots elements of the flashbacks would ever happen in the type of military unit described, not mission or tactics. The Army leadership is portrayed as corrupt and as having powers it would not haveThe writers of this show have obviously never talked with a member of the military, in any occupational field. Nor have they researched civilian or military law enforcement.
And I'm guessing they never read Lee Child's books. There is always a measure of plausibility in Child's books & his characters actually behave the way humans do. Child is noir-light. In the Prime show, the characters behave the way out of touch Hollywood writers think they would behave.
Good Omens (2019)
Downgraded my rating effective season 2 from 8 to 1
The purpose of Season 2 seems to be only to force a world where 75% of adult relationships are homosexual, onto the viewer. The writing is very weak this season, storyline is not very intriguing, the viewer is not challenged to solve a puzzle, or root for a beloved (or much hated) villian. I did not laugh once .... the dialogue is just flat. This season doesn't feel like the same show as the first season. This season is simply about several uninteresting relationships. And the usual amount of Church slamming, but no plot or characters to get engaged with.
Even the amazing cast could not make watching this season worth the time. They do everything they can with the dialogue they are given, but they are simply given uninteresting material.
Star Trek: Picard: Assimilation (2022)
Woke Propaganda
Season 1 was good -- solid 6 - 7.
Starting with this episode Season 2 became woke garbage ... The Message(s) more important than the plot, dialogue, plausibility etc.
A Discovery of Witches (2018)
Fine Adaption of Great Series ... until S3
Season One and Season Two stayed true enough to the books, with a little punch up to the pace, to make for great streaming.
Season 3, which should have been the best, as the third book in the series was the best, fell a little flat, a little slow in pace. It strayed too much from the book, spent too much time preaching PC gospel, unnecessarily, as the whole theme of the series really is about the equality of all peoples. There was no need to stray from the story to appease the PC police, the story as written proved those points well.
Invincible (2021)
Grows on you
Give it a few episodes before you decide if it's for you.
I normally avoid shows with teenage protagonists, and I do groan thru the scenes between teens in this show, but the storylines and adult characters keep me watching.
The Irregulars (2021)
Entertaining characters, historically inaccurate, safe politically
Although no attempt is made to keep the language, social norms or costumes, true to the historical era the show is set in, the characters and actors portraying them, are highly watchable and entertaining. But if hearing 21st century slang in a Victorian era piece will annoy you, this show is not for you. In it's defense, it is a speculative Supernatural piece as well, so I soothe my educated brain over all of the historical errors by supposing of it could be an alternative timeline.
All of the required politically correct characters by current trends are included; no traditional roles are observed; for the most part white males are portrayed as very flawed and/or evil, so no problematic triggers in this show.
Thomas Sowell: Common Sense in a Senseless World, A Personal Exploration by Jason Riley (2021)
Big Picture holistic view of a great American genius
While known for being an economist, this overview of a truly brilliant thinker, highlights the full variety of his research and writings. Through his own words and interviews with peers, Sowell's intellectual rigor and devotion to the facts and truth endeared me even more to one of my heroes.
I now have a longer list of his books that I must find, and an even stronger desire to introduce others to this courageous intellectual... the rare honest intellectual.
Can not wait for the bio coming out by the same writer.
Hunters: In the Belly of the Whale (2020)
Bot for History fans or the Well Read
Submitting to the current left driven narrative that ALL White Christians are Evil, and that only people in a protected identity class are Good, this production wastes the talents of Pacino and the opportunity to teach some valuable lessons from history that all peoples in all nations need to never forget.
Avoid if you love history or find Hollywood's endless assault on your intelligence and internal sense of judgement, offensive and arrigant
Joker (2019)
Joaquin Phoenix's Performance is a must see
So riveting, so addicting was the actors performance that despite there being NO action and very little story advancement after an hour into the film, I was still glued to the screen and sympathetic.
NOT a typical comic book movie; many fans of the genre will feel left out, as the film is essentially a rant against the (lack of) mental health treatment and offers scant Origin material.
The elder Wayne was portrayed in very bad light. I found this alternate interpretation clumsy, but not unexpected, as leftist Hollywood hasn't the guts to portray any white characters as good.
"Joker's" origin in this version does not allow this character to display any of the genius typically associated with the character.
Joaquin Phoenix's realistic portrayal of mental illness, without campiness or empty sensationalism, will shed light on a societal ill and undoubtedly garner him Oscar nominations.
iZombie: All's Well That Ends Well (2019)
Satisfying!
Thank-You show writers for not betraying the audience, the players or the characters (and hence yourselves), with a very satisfying final season and finale episode.
Last Man Standing (2011)
Smart comedy
Season 7 started a bit rocky for me; the dialogue didn't "snap" as crisply as before, and the new Mandy/Kyle just feels awkward. But with every passing week the writing has gotten better and I'm still enjoying this show and it's smart humor.
Game of Thrones: The Bells (2019)
Betrayal

Fandom
Legacy
all betrayed by lazy writing and (apparently) tired ShowRunners
Game of Thrones: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (2019)
Redeemed by Brienne
The knighting of Brienne of Tarth by Sir Jaime Lanister is the only redeeming moment of this Season. And even though I am so disgusted with the Pro-Feminist, totally misandrist take over of media and entertainment, this moment felt real, and not at all politically motivated.
Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)
Suddenly every character is a moron?
The writers abandoned and betrayed the characters.
A season full of stupid decisions and awkward interactions.
Zero chemistry between characters on screen
Game of Thrones (2011)
Just skip Season 8
Seasons 1-7 rated a 10 for me ....
Season 8, a 1 or 2.
Stay in suspense and skip the last season if you are new to the series, you'll only be angered and frustrated by season 8.

Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Uneven, strained, somewhat pandering but heartfelt
Pandering to the politics of the day created one shot during the epic battle of ALL of the female characters that this female found trite and patronizing. 2 or more other major plot decisions are also a betrayal of the fandom by surrendering to the tyranny of identity politics.
Uneven and contradictory handling of the characters and plot decisions created a long list of plot holes and distractions .... compare Spiderman's friend and Ant Man's daughter.
There are touching and heartfelt moments ... happy and sad tears shed. Sadly, those are diminished by the distractions of the plot issues.
The 7 rating was a nod to the efforts of the players, despite the machinations of the script.
