The Great Indoors (2016–2017)

Last man Standing Knockoff, still good laughs
12 July 2020
It's an outdoorsman magazine with the MC a photographer that traveled the world, and episode one is him returned to the office and being told he's not being sent back out and now has to work in the office to make the website better. This is Last Man Standing with the guy from Community playing Tim Allen, and instead of 3 millennial daughters he's working with millennial co-workers. One of his co-workers is McLovin from super bad who acts exactly like Charles from Brooklyn 99. They also do a bit where one of the coworkers is never seen, just a voice from inside a tent, like Howard's mother from Big Bang Theory.

Overall 0% original show, but it stole the funny bits from funny shows, so it works well and as long as originality isn't all you're looking for still worth a watch.

A surprisingly good sequel!
17 April 2019
The big reveal from the original that it's all in a boy's head makes it hard to follow up with a sequel, however they did a great job going in a different direction.

Similar underlying theme to the original but from the flip side. In the first the boy was wanting to play with the father's toys, but in this one the boy feels the invasion from the younger sister. As expected it opens with Everything is Awesome, but from there it adds a whole bunch of new and different original songs to give this a pretty great soundtrack.

Very family friendly, fun and cute, would definitely recommend.

The Defenders (2017)

Sub-par EVERYTHING, not worth watching
25 August 2017
tl;dr - Not worth watching, wish I hadn't

So if you are like me and watched all the Marvel Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist shows before this you'll have noticed the quality went downhill fast by the time Iron Fist came out. I was hoping putting them all together in The Defenders would bring the quality up, but it actually did the opposite. Clearly the producers are coasting on previous success and making 0 effort to make a good show.

The story was unoriginal and poorly written. In fact, everything was poorly written, poorly choreographed, poorly edited. They tried a couple "plot twists" you don't see coming, and you don't, because they make NO SENSE.

Absolutely none of it is believable. Every fight scene starts with a monologue, followed by a team action pose. then badly filmed, badly acted fight scenes, with breaks in the combat to dialog and pose some more. At no point in any episode did I think "yeah, that's a good decision" or "that's how I'd do it", it was just plot hole, bad decision, stupid dialog, plot hole. I only give it 2 stars because I still like Jessica Jones's characters (mostly).
