Needs more

I watched this to brush up on my German (or in this case, Austrian). If you are even the slightest bit interested in veganism, just google "Dr Gregor" on YouTube. With some organising, this documentary could have been put together from start to finish in less than 2 weeks. Credit where credit is due: they do a good job explaining the "unhealthy vegan", but it's not worth your time.

Kingdom 3 (2023)

It just keeps getting better
10 January 2024
At this point in time, both previous Kingdom movies have ratings of 6.6 and 6.7. Kingdom III now stands at a rating of 7.1. I wholeheartedly second the motion that the Kingdom series just keeps getting better - this instalment is definitely a step above its predecessors. The chariot chase alone is hands-down a miraculous achievement in terms of pure cinematography - it is on par with chariot scenes in Ridley Scotts' Gladiator. Don't expect complicated politics or an historically accurate Qin Shi Huang -- this continues being an action heavy adventure with notably less romance than the previous 2 movies. The focus is battle and boy does it deliver!

It's alright, a bit better than Part 1
11 August 2023
It's been discussed how changing animation style can sometimes backfire - a classic example being the remake of 1997 Berserk. Moving on from that...

The change in animation style wasn't really noticeable after 5 minutes. The best seasons of Seven Deadly Sins are the first 2 and there is no follow-up movie which is as enjoyable as the first 2 seasons. That said, this movie was rather average, I'm glad I watched it but it's not high on "re-watch value". Part 2 is slightly more intriguing than Part 1, yet otherwise interchangeable -- nothing much to add here. I'll definitely be watching the next instalment.

Relaxing and heartwarming
9 July 2023
What an absolute gem of a show. It's an incredibly relaxing and heartwarming experience that made me feel like I was right there on the farm alongside the characters. The animation is breathtaking and captures the serene beauty of the countryside perfectly. The characters are well-developed and relatable, and I found myself fully invested in their stories. The pacing is perfect, allowing the viewer to fully immerse themselves in the peaceful atmosphere of the farm. I found myself feeling calm and content every time I watched an episode. It's a must-watch for anyone looking for a heartwarming and relaxing anime experience. Everything about this show is amazing it absolutely needs a season 2 asap.

What a wonderful treat!

8/10 Solid. To the team who out this together - thank you! Great story. Heart-warming, original, beautiful in multiple ways, I highly recommend this! The mere idea of a story focussed on running while time stops is wonderful!

The best western adult animated movie since Heavy Metal 1981
31 October 2021
I have seen my fair share of animated movies - effortlessly more than 98% of casual viewers. To those who have worked on this movie - if you are reading this - bravo. The story is intriguing. The music spot on. This is obviously a work of passion and homage, but it already feels like one couldn't reliably date it, were it given to someone without telling them when it was produced. This movie will be found and enjoyed by those lucky and inquisitive enough for decades to come!

Going on a tangent: The warring Olympian-Titan myth in this movie is a gem. "The greater the sin, the greater the mercy: the deeper the death and the brighter the rebirth"

And a further side note: Sure, everyone reading this would have seen better animation and have heard a more memorable soundtrack - give me Hans Zimmer and the Ghibli Team and you'd get both. I can think of plenty of movies where the violence (animated or not) is "cool". There's nothing of the sort here.

Very memorable
8 September 2018
I'd give this movie a solid 8/10. It is among the most violent movies I've ever come across and THE best 3D animated movie from Japan I can currently think of. It's only 70 odd minutes long and well worth your time - give it a go!
